Chapter 9: Go Back to Reality

Although still confused by the information Roderick had provided earlier, Damian was quite satisfied with the information he had gotten this time and he also found a way to contact Roderick without having to come back here. 

After finishing his business with Roderick, Damian immediately left the Black Market, because he didn't want people to be suspicious of him if he hung around there any longer. 

After all, Damian realised that he had talked with Roderick for too long and now that it was late afternoon, he had to return to Wendy. Although Wendy didn't require Damian to return at what time, he still knew to do his job well.

Although Damian used to be known for his bad behaviour, at least he was a responsible man, so he had to come back now. After changing his clothes back into his neat suit, Damian returned to Wendy's private luxury boutique. 

When Damian arrived in front of Wendy's boutique, he immediately stepped inside but his steps were immediately stopped by someone. Damian turned to the woman who stopped him, "I came to see Wendy," Damian said, reminding the woman that he came for Wendy. 

"Do you intend to lie?! Miss Wendy doesn't have any guests scheduled at the moment!" The woman gave Damian a sharp look, thinking that Damian was up to no good in their boutique. 

In response Damian just sighed, he wasn't surprised to be greeted like this, even though he thought Wendy had told her employees that he worked for her. "You can ask Wendy, just say Damian is coming," Damian explained patiently, he didn't want to cause a riot here. 

Although unhappy, the woman did as Damian said to confirm this with Wendy, "Just watch out if you lie!" the woman said sarcastically as she waltzed away. 

Damian was left alone outside the boutique, patiently waiting there. Unexpectedly as he waited there, he noticed that the few people who entered the boutique gave him disgusted glances and he heard them whispering as they passed by. 

"Damn it, I never thought the time would come for me to feel this humiliating," Damian's mind grimaced, never thinking that he would feel something this humiliating. 

Damian waited there for a long time, until he finally saw the woman who had insulted him return while running towards him, her face not looking too good at the moment when she saw him.

"I'm sorry, sir. I don't recognize you, I'll take you to Miss Wendy's place." The woman apologised while bowing deeply, not expecting that the person she insulted was her boss's husband. 

"No problem," Damian replied casually, he wanted to get out of there quickly to get rid of the spotlight that was currently on him because of what she did. 

In a hurry, the woman immediately escorted Damian to the upper floor where Wendy was currently. Damian followed her and as he looked around, he realised that Wendy's taste was very interesting in decorating her company. 

"Miss Wendy is in a meeting, sir. You can wait for her inside," the woman said as she opened the waiting room for Damian. 

"Alright," Damian replied briefly, he had no intention of disturbing Wendy either as he had only come here to perform his duties. 

"Is there anything you need, sir?" the woman asked politely this time. 

"Nothing, go away!" Damian immediately sent her away, he was uncomfortable with her presence, especially since she had insulted him earlier.

At first, Damian waited patiently for Wendy, but over time he began to get bored because there was nothing he could do there. Because he was bored of continuing to be there Damian chose to leave the room. 

Something Damian didn't imagine happened when he came out of the waiting room. When Damian came out he coincidentally saw Wendy and a man talking, he thought that they seemed to have just finished a meeting. 

But, Damian vaguely recognized the man who was talking to Wendy and Wendy happened to call him to come closer. Damian did not hesitate to step closer to Wendy and the man. 

"What a coincidence that we can meet here. Damian is Grayson Maxwell, and Grayson is my husband, Damian." Wendy introduced the two of them.

"Gosh, I didn't expect to meet someone from the Maxwell family," Damian said as he extended his hand, intending to shake hands. 

Not too happy with what Wendy said to him, Grayson only glanced at Damian's hand sarcastically, he did not think that Wendy was really married. 

Although Grayson didn't like Damian's presence, but to make his image good in front of Wendy, Grayson also politely responded to Damian's hand with a smile that he forced. 

"I should be surprised to meet you. I didn't expect a girl as beautiful as Wendy to get married so soon," Grayson said intending to insinuate Damian. 

But Damian, who wasn't thinking about anything troublesome, just responded to Grayson's words casually, "I'm very lucky to be with Wendy," Damian replied with a bright smile on his face. 

Secretly, Wendy was relieved because it seemed that Grayson was not suspicious of her relationship with Damian, to strengthen their acting she hugged Damian's arm from the side, wanting to get Grayson out of there as soon as possible. 

Grayson clenched his hands into fists at the scene in front of him, but he smiled, "I guess I should get going since our business is done." Grayson immediately left the two of them. 

Unbeknownst to Wendy and Damian, Grayson ordered his assistant to investigate who Damian was, he was very curious how they could be together and have a wedding secretly like this. 

Meanwhile, after Grayson left, Wendy immediately pulled Damian into her room. Because there is something Wendy wants to say to Damian at this time.

Damian, who was dragged by Wendy into Wendy's room, was confused, "Is there something going on?" Damian asked curiously. 

"This is serious, Damian!" After closing the door of her room tightly, Wendy turned around to look at Damian. 

"My family intends to throw a banquet party for us. I honestly have a bad feeling about it," Wendy continued and explained what she meant. 

"I knew they wouldn't let you marry me just like that," Damian replied, already feeling that the Clayton family would definitely do something like this to them. 

Damian also thought that the current situation was not in his favour, if he got humiliated at the party, then the Clayton family would definitely force Wendy to let him go.
