Max felt like his heart was sliced into tiny pieces, overwhelmed by so many emotions that he could not fathom.

But as he froze right there, it felt to him like he had misheard. “What did you say?”

“You heard me Max or do I have to scream it out to the whole hospital, I murdered Mrs. Bennett”

“Mrs. Bennett, who is she?” Max was confused. He knew that Zara was the only female Bennett in the family and, since she wasn't married, he was not sure why his sister would address her that way.

“Are you dumb brother? "I killed Zara's mother!” She finally explained, several emotions were flooding inside of him, mixed with confusion.
