This is another world  3

Opposite to what I was thinking and wanting to do, Ajbadan raised his speed towards where the gunshots were coming from and told us, "Hurry, let's move faster," and like he read my mind, he added, "It will be more dangerous to stick around when all the animals and beasts will be running away from the sound of the gunshots, so it's safer to go there and have a look at what is going on." That was enough to convince me, so we followed him.

I wanted to ask him several questions but thought against it because, because of the situation we were in, it would have been strange to ask him something irrelevant. Strange though it may appear, I was thinking about if he had a compass. I wanted to know more than anything where I was because, from the knowledge, I gained from the AI Chip in my Brian compasses, compasses exist in this world, the cardinal directions are the same, and the sun rises from the east and sets in the west.

I collected all the information I was able to get from the chip, which is similar to the internet searches back on earth, except that this is in your head and you can access the information just by thinking about it; you can also give a verbal command, or even type on a small hand-held device. Since I don't have that, I got costumed about using the first option, which seemed weird to me to give a verbal command; it seemed to me like I was talking to myself.

While I was thinking about such things that have nothing to do with the situation we are in at the moment, a few different animals that looked scared came upon us running and avoiding us, and ignoring us, even a few carnivores were among them and were not bothered to even glance at us, which made me wonder: Are the animals and beasts in this world smarter than those on earth? However, I kept that question to myself to figure out the answer another time; at the moment, I have to think about what lies ahead of us.

Tahir known as Ozak now, point of view

It's been over three weeks now, since I came to this strange world. What I have been through during this period of time was a lot, I have been imprisoned, tortured, and integrated.

For almost a week, the worst thing of all was that I didn't know what was going on, or where I was, and most of all, why all this things was happening. Even I couldn't understand what they were asking me in the first few days, when they subjected me to a medical tests and decided to implement an AI chip into my brain without my consent.

After the implement, I was able to understand their questions and was able to answer them, although I didn't remember what happened to me. The reason is that my memory was selectively erased, I didn't know who am I or how I came to be in that room, or anything at all about myself. I came to know that I am in a different world, and that I am an alien in this world. At least at that point, the torture and interrogation stopped, simply because they believed that I didn't know anything, and that I wasn't hiding anything from them.

Still, though I was a prisoner for them, from the AI chip I came to know everything about this world, and I tried, from the information I was able to get, to figure out who and why I was brought here, but I didn't get any clue at all, I was not in any immediate danger that I could see, but I had a feeling that whoever was behind what happened will not just keep watching from the sidelines, and they will act sooner or later, so I was in standby mode the whole time. Even the people at whose home I am a guest were wondering the same thing. Still, they tried the best they could to treat me as a wanted guest.

They kept me in a house, although not locked in as of the beginning, but I was still under guard and surveillance twenty-four hours a day, and I was not expecting that to change soon. I could understand their caution because it's the logical thing to do. That being said, if I requested to go out, I would be granted permission, with an armed security guard following me. Like today, I have been cooped up in the house for a few days, then I requested to go out for a walk. I didn't have any particular reason or objective, and I could go anywhere inside the city, I was fascinated for the first time with the beauty of the city and the advancements they have reached, everything we imagined back on earth as science fiction and produced in movies and novels was a reality here.

But today, I was not in a good mood. I guess I used to be an active man who didn't use to sit idly without doing anything, which is why I felt bored and frustrated, hoping that a change of scenery might help me. But now I have been walking for almost an hour, and I thought that nothing is going to change, so I decided to go back taking the same route I came with. The guard that was with me was just following me and not interacting with me, keeping just two steps behind me. Even if I asked him a question, he would not give me an answer, so I didn't bother talking to him anyway.

The situation changed in less than a second, and it kept changing. Little did I know that today was the last boring day in my life, and everything I was expecting has just started: an adventure worth telling, pain, hunger, suffering, and the only thing I could do was just survive—survive this hour, then survive just today, then survive this night—no chance to think about the future, only the present.
