A YEAR LATER

“Au revoir, Jacqueline. Get home safe, alright?” A man said to his worker who had just left his bakery for the night.

“Will do, Monsieur Henri. See you tomorrow,” She said as she walked away.

It was late in the evening and a lot of businesses were closed. The streets were dark but thanks to the glow of the street lamps, there was enough light for Jacqueline to move around. She walked through the streets of Rue de Rivoli and she hummed to herself as she walked. As she was walking, she suddenly had this feeling that someone was following her. She turned to check but there was no one behind her.

She felt maybe it was just her nerves for having left work so late tonight so she kept walking. Some distinct shadow suddenly ran past her from behind and she felt the wind. She gasped and turned around again but still, there was no one.
