“How am I going to make $12,000?” Xayn was looking down at his chair in horror. He could already imagine the pain and agony Kira was going to be in if she found out there was no hope for their mother.

He got up without saying a thing to the doctor, he left the office, and he convinced Kira to head home when he did. He was not sure how he was going to be able to explain this to her and expect her to understand what was going on.

Xayn walked out of the hospital with his heart beating faster than usual,  he didn't know what he was going to do if there was an emergency and they needed the money to make sure they stabilized things.

‘What am I going to do? I don't know how I am going to be able to make that amount of money, even if they let me stay at the pack and paid me with what the A ranks receive there is still no way I would be able to pay off all these bills.’ Xayn was battling with his thoughts as he was walking home, it was like he was going to lose his mind.

“I better go see Lucy , she would know what to say to be at moments like this.” A small smile formed on Xayn’s face the moment he remembered his girlfriend, it was going to be the only good thing that happened to him that day.

Xayn decided to tell her the big news, Xayn had been planning to tell his girlfriend his plans of marrying her and what their life would be like if they were married as a couple. But he needed to make sure he told her all he was going through.

“I know she will get it, she always does and there is nothing I can't do if I have her by my side.” Xayn was overjoyed with the idea of going to see Lucy , he was going to be happy to see the woman that made him feel happy.

Lucy  was not any typical girl, she was one of the B-ranked warriors who were known as works of wonders. It was a mystery how she fell in love with someone like Xayn he was the weakest but still, the both of them were a couple and they were happy.

Xayn couldn't wait till he saw Lucy , he was already going through a lot and he needed someone to hold him and tell him it was okay but there was no one other than Lucy  who would do much for him.

Xayn got to Lucy 's apartment and he saw that everywhere was a mess, he wanted to make sure that nothing was going to ruin his evening with the love of his life.

Xayn gave a slight knock on the door, he was still smiling while waiting for her to come open the door.

“Gimme one sec” Lucy  called from inside, Xayn couldn't contain himself but he began thinking of nice times he would spend with his girlfriend.

Lucy  opened the door, she was wearing her robe and by the looks of it she was not alone there was someone else with her. “Xayn? What are you doing here?” Lucy  was surprised to see Derk standing by her doorstep.

“I came to see you, I know it's rude coming unannounced but I wanted to come here and see you.” Xayn had a big smile on his face, he was really happy he came over to see Lucy  even though he felt that he was disturbing her, there was a part of him that didn't feel like he was doing anything wrong.

“Oh Xayn, now is not such a good time. I was kind of busy,” Lucy  said, sounding like she wanted Xayn to leave.

“Is it something I can help with? I will be happy to..”

“Oi baby who is holding you up there?” Someone said from behind and then from behind the door Luke came out with a towel wrapped around his waist. He was looking like someone who was waiting for his lover to come back to the room.

The moment Luke caught a glimpse of Xayn a look formed on his face, “What is he doing here?” He was looking at Xayn with a face that read nothing but disgust.

Xayn looked at Luke and then at Lucy , he was confused and lost. “Lucy , what is going on here? Why is Sir Luke here? Why is he in that robe with your towel wrapped around him?”

“What isn't obvious?” Luke walked closer to Lucy  and placed his hands over her shoulders. “I am here with one of the world’s finest ladies on a date.” Luke gave Lucy  a peck on the cheek.

Out of nowhere Xayn snapped, he looked at Luke with killing intent. “You bastard, get your hands off her!” Xayn pounced on Luke trying to beat the living daylights out of him. It was like he was going to kill Luke, he had never felt something like that.

Luke kicked Xayn off his body and then proceeded to beat him up. “Piece of sh*t, I let you stay at my squad and you try to repay me like this?”

Xayn was getting beat up badly, he had forgotten that Luke was a rank-A warrior and Squad leader.

“You think she wants to be with shit like you? Do you think that any lady in her right senses would come to you? I mean look at you! You look like a curse.” Luke was looking at Xayn on the ground as he lay there.

Xayn was still trying to get back on his feet, he didn't know why he attacked Luke knowing fully well that he was going to be beaten up. “To think you tried to attack me, look at you. You're just pathetic, thinking you deserve anything good, you are completely delusional.”

Xayn was not paying attention to Luke, he managed to pull himself up. His heart was heavy and he looked Lucy  in the eye, “Tell me that it was all a lie, the talks of us getting a life, the plans we had to move in together with each other, the moments we shared. Please tell me it was not me living an illusion.”

The world was black. Not silent, though. The mask laughed in the darkness, its voice echoing like a storm in his skull. “You’re mine now. All mine. No more pretending. No more fighting.”Xayn tried to speak, but his lips wouldn’t move. His body felt heavy, trapped, as if he had been chained in molten iron, then another voice cut through, smooth, steady, calm. “Not yet. He’s still useful.”Xayn’s eyes snapped open. He was no longer on the blood-soaked streets of the Black Market.Instead, he stood in a strange void. The ground was black stone, cracked with glowing veins of red. Shadows swirled like smoke, wrapping around him. Above, the sky was endless and empty, yet alive with whispers, and standing in front of him was the red-eyed man.The cloak around his body swayed though there was no wind. His hood shadowed his face, but his glowing eyes cut through the dark like twin blades.“You’ve walked far,” the man said softly. “Farther than I expected. Most who wear that mask don’t last a

He dares to laugh at you!”Xayn’s fist roared forward, the air splitting under its speed. At the last instant, Sean moved.Steel sang. Sean’s blade flashed like silver lightning, parrying Xayn’s punch with impossible precision. Sparks exploded as fist met steel, the shockwave rattling the buildings around them.Xayn staggered back a step, his crimson eyes narrowing. Sean had stopped him. The mask hissed with anger. “Impossible. No man can match this power.”Sean tilted his head, his smile never leaving. “So it’s true. The mask accepts you.

The night wind carried the faint smell of smoke and blood. Xayn stood at the end of the alley, his chest heaving, his body still trembling from the battle with the assassins. His hand clutched the Shadowglass tightly, while the satchel containing the cursed mask pulsed faintly at his side, and there, standing in the torchlight with his men, was Sean.Sean’s polished armor gleamed even in the dim night. His eyes were sharp, filled with amusement, as though the entire world was nothing but a game for him. His cruel smile widened when he saw Xayn’s bloodied form.“Well, well,” Sean drawled. “The rat returns from the gutter. I half-expected the Black Market to chew you up and spit out your bones. But here you are.”His soldiers chuckled behind him, the sound grating like metal scraping stone.Xayn’s jaw tightened. His single good eye stared in horror, his lips shaping silent pleas for mercy. The black iron mask burned hot against Xayn’s skin, fusing to him like molten fire. The red glow in its hollow eyes pulsed faster with each heartbeat. “End him,” the mask hissed. “One more squeeze. Feel his life break.”Xayn’s breath came in harsh bursts. The night air was cold. The lanterns along the street swayed in the faint breeze, their dim light stretching shadows across the stone.Xayn stood in the center of the road, the Shadowglass clenched in one hand, the satchel with the mask pressing against his side. His chest still burned from the fight with Kraven, but now, he wasn’t facing one man. He was surrounded. Dozens of figures in dark cloaks and bone-white masks blocked the street. They were silent, but the air around them was heavy, dangerous, as though each breath carried the promise of violence. The leader stepped forward. His mask was different, carved into a cruel grin, painted with streaks of crimson. His voice was calm, almost polite. “Hand it over,” the man said. “The mask belongs to us.”Xayn’s body tensed. He shifted his stance, keeping his weight balanced, his eyes scanning the crowd for weaknesses. “I fought for this,” he said. “If you want it, you’ll have to take it.”The man chuckled softly. “That can be arrange
