Xayn was silently praying that Lucy would run to his hands and hug him, but it dawned on him that she was not going to give him an explanation. “Lucy , please tell me it is just a joke.”
“Why would you think that this is a joke? I am not going to be with someone as disgusting as you!”
Xayn was silent, he could not move nor could he speak. He just stood there looking at Lucy , he couldn't believe what he was hearing. “What are you saying? You said to yourself I am the person you wish to be with and you said you could imagine life without me.”
“That was all to make you feel better, I never loved you. How can I love someone like you? You don't have anything to your name? You are a warrior with no skills, you can hardly survive on your own and you need the squad to always show up to your rescue. Honestly, I'd rather take my chances being single than being with you.” Lucy didn't even flinch when she said those words but it was all from her heart.
Xayn stood there, he couldn't feel the pain from the beating anymore rather he was hurt to find out the person he cared about and wanted to spend the rest of his life with was actually with him out of pity.
“You heard her, now I think it's best if you left her alone.” Luke crossed his hands over Lucy , Xayn watched as the both of them headed back inside. Xayn fought with all the strength in his heart to hold back his tears and make sure he did not make himself look more stupid in front of them.
Xayn dipped his hands into his pocket and brought out a little box that contained a ring he spent three months of raid money on buying. He turned and began walking to his house, it was like there was nothing left for him to do.
‘So I have been living a lie? What curse is this? Why can't my life be any better? It just keeps getting worse than before and by the moment it turns into more hell than it is already.’ Xayn was walking down, thinking about everything that had happened in his life up till now.
He knew there had never been a good time in his life since his father died, he had been put through all sorts of hell. Xayn had seen every other opportunity to become something else, he wanted to be a worker in an office and lead an ordinary life but it was like that was where it all started.
There were no jobs for him and he was meant to take care of his family. He took the job of a warrior and he had almost lost his life four times in a role. But somehow he kept surviving like something was keeping him from dying.
“What have I done to deserve all this? Why am I being punished this way? What have I done to deserve all this?!!” Xayn looked up to the sky and yelled at the top of his voice, he was not trying to hold back his tears. He let them flow freely, he let them flow freely down his cheeks. He knew there was no way he was going to contain all the pain like that without letting it go.
Xayn after standing for some time wiped his tears and began walking home, he was trying his best to forget all that happened earlier even though it was engraved in his memory he could not help but try and forget it all.
“You know that it is against the warrior code for me to do something like that? I can't remove him from the squad even if it was possible it will still be judged” Luke was trying to get Lucy to understand something he was saying.
“I know you think it is impossible but there should be a way for you to make sure you have no way of surviving.” Lucy said looking at Luke who was walking up and down the room while roughing his hair.
“Did you get any info on who this person is and why he is paying such a huge sum of money to make sure Xayn is out of the way? I mean you have dated him for the past three years and you successfully surprised his warrior’s energy for the past years.” Luke was looking at Lucy, she was still confused.
“This was not meant to happen, he was not meant to see me with you now I have to find another way to finish the job.” Lucy sat down beside Luke, she was panicking.
“By finishing the job, do you mean killing him?” Luke looked at her to get a reply, he didn't know what Lucy had going on in her mind. Lucy nodded slowly, Luke’s face went cold. He knew there was no other way to make sure Lucy finished what she was doing.
“So what's your plan? Have you thought of anything yet?” Luke was still looking at Lucy , she might look like she was a clueless lady but she was one of the most diabolical beings on the planet.
“Yes, tomorrow you will find a high ranking dungeon then we will make sure we split up and then we will leave him in the dungeon to die alone telling the others that he died.” Lucy didn't say anything but kept quiet and it was like she had the plan at the back of her hands.
“After that $100,000 will be mine, and we will be happy together.” Lucy looked at Luke before going in for a deep kiss.
Xayn’s phone beeped with the alert of a raid, he looked at it knowing he needed the money to add to everything he had to pay for his mother’s medication. “I have to take everything I get seriously.”
Xayn got out of his couch and began to gear up for the raid, he bumped into the papers by the door, he picked them up and in one he saw that their rent was due by the weekend.
‘Fuck, I need to make sure I cover that.’ He thought to himself as he went to the fridge to grab a snack and leave for the raid.

A blast of white-silver light tore through the cavern. Xayn stumbled back, shielding his face as wind howled from the center of the chamber. Stones ripped from the walls, chains snapped, and the torches went out one by one. Dust filled the air until he could barely breathe. “Lia!” he shouted. “Stop!”But it wasn’t Lia anymore. A thin fog crawled across the streets, softening the edges of broken walls and burnt wood.Xayn’s footsteps echoed dully as he stumbled through the alleyway. His entire body throbbed with exhaustion. The world was black. Not silent, though. The mask laughed in the darkness, its voice echoing like a storm in his skull. “You’re mine now. All mine. No more pretending. No more fighting.”Xayn tried to speak, but his lips wouldn’t move. His body felt heavy, trapped, as if he had been chained in molten iron, then another voice cut through, smooth, steady, calm. “Not yet. He’s still useful.”Xayn’s eyes snapped open. He was no longer on the blood-soaked streets of the Black Market.Instead, he stood in a strange void. The ground was black stone, cracked with glowing veins of red. Shadows swirled like smoke, wrapping around him. Above, the sky was endless and empty, yet alive with whispers, and standing in front of him was the red-eyed man.The cloak around his body swayed though there was no wind. His hood shadowed his face, but his glowing eyes cut through the dark like twin blades.“You’ve walked far,” the man said softly. “Farther than I expected. Most who wear that mask don’t last a

The night wind carried the faint smell of smoke and blood. Xayn stood at the end of the alley, his chest heaving, his body still trembling from the battle with the assassins. His hand clutched the Shadowglass tightly, while the satchel containing the cursed mask pulsed faintly at his side, and there, standing in the torchlight with his men, was Sean.Sean’s polished armor gleamed even in the dim night. His eyes were sharp, filled with amusement, as though the entire world was nothing but a game for him. His cruel smile widened when he saw Xayn’s bloodied form.“Well, well,” Sean drawled. “The rat returns from the gutter. I half-expected the Black Market to chew you up and spit out your bones.
