Chapter 5

An orange Porsche had just arrived in front of the iron gates of Northwest less than 30 minutes later.

The large gate was already open because the Sorella family was apparently having dinner together, making it easy for Luca and Ava to enter, and a satisfied smile plastered across Luca's face.

He looked very satisfied, as it had been a long time since he'd driven at 200 km/h.

Before marrying Lisa, Luca had always loved car racing, as it was a common hobby for boys from wealthy families. But, wanting to be a good husband, he abandoned that reckless hobby.

Even when he was secretly earning money from a major government science project, Luca still didn't pursue this hobby because he already had a son, and perhaps he needed to relax a bit.

"That guy's head," Ava said, getting out of the car with Luca's help. "You seem to have accidentally hit him with your tire. That should be illegal under the system, but I'll keep it a secret. I can't believe you also converted a Honda into a sports car."

“Thank you,” Luca smiled as Ava snapped her fingers and the blood trail disappeared.

Ava also changed her clothes and Luca’s into formal party attire, and as they both ascended the grand staircase of the Northwest mansion, a security guard stopped them.

“Excuse me, I need to gather your details first. Are you here at the groom’s invitation or—Oh my God! Luca?! Are you still alive, man? You’re Luca, right?” The security guard’s eyes widened, and Luca recognized him.

It was Myer, and he was the only Sorella staff member who had always been kind to Luca.

The security guard immediately hugged Luca, and Ava coughed as they became too intimate.

“Luca, but Mrs. Sorella—your wife too, they all said you were dead! They said you died in a poison gas tragedy, and your wife, she’s already…”

“Married to Daniel Cruise? Yes, I’ve heard that. They’ve been dating since the beginning,” Luca said with a smile and a nod toward the entrance. “I just came here to pick up some of my things before I leave, okay? And also, I wanted to see Asher. Asher’s in there too, right?”

“Yeah, he’s here, but he… There’s a little problem,” the security guard paused. “But it’s nothing important, really. I think everything will be fine. Is this girl with you, Luca? May I know her identity?”

“Yes, she’s with me. I’ll explain it to you when we get inside,” Luca said.

Myer led them inside and summarized all the information Luca needed to know.

Today, Luca’s former in laws, the Sorellas, were throwing a big party to welcome Daniel Cruise into the family.

Back when Luca had just married Lisa, no one had thrown a party or even welcomed him.

They said it was because they didn’t have much money, and even when Luca helped them get back on their feet by modifying Lisa’s perfume, they actually steered Lisa towards a better man. 

But now that Luca had realized his position, he decided to take back what was rightfully his.

The system's primary task was to control the Northwest mansion, and Luca glanced uncomfortably at the guests, as they seemed to be watching him like hawks. 

However, the security guard said no one was paying attention to Luca because they were focused on Ava, whose face looked attractive to men.

"Okay, this is the room where they're holding the party. They chose the Diamond Hall because it's the largest room in the house. Your son is there, and he's accompanying his mother. I'll return to my post now, and I'll call you if there's anything wrong with your order," Myer said with a wink, and Luca nodded.

"Okay, thank you," Luca said. "And remember my orders. Don't forget to follow them, okay?"

"Of course,"

Then the security guard stepped away from them.

Luca opened the diamond door for Ava, and they entered the party together.

The party was extravagant, and Luca simply smiled as the waiters offered him drinks. Luca is trying not to use his superpowers too often because he needs to erase his face from the mansion staff's memories, and Luca just thought about asking Ava for a party mask.

Luca wondered why he was given superpowers if he was only allowed to use them a little, but just as he was about to ask Ava, his eyes fell on a small boy wearing a bow tie.

The boy's eyes lit up as he ran toward Luca, and as Luca crouched down to be at eye level with the boy, someone was already scooping him up.

It was Daniel Cruise.

“Daddy!! Where have you been? I missed you! Didn't you promise to take me to play?” The little boy hugged Daniel tightly, resting his head on his neck.

Luca was speechless as his son, who usually refused to be held by strangers and was always dependent on him, now seemed to have found a replacement.

He had even called Daniel daddy, and when he saw Asher kiss him on the cheek, Luca decided to look away.

“Let's just go find my mom's necklace. That's the reward we get for completing the mission, right?” Luca said awkwardly as he straightened up. “After that, we’ll take over the Northwest and finish this system. Besides, I only need my mother’s jewel. Nothing else.”

“Huh? Don’t you want to get close to your son?” Ava asked, before her eyes reddened as she saw Asher, who was being held by Daniel. “You know, I could draw a laser on his head, or make your son want you. It’s easy and—”

“No, Ava. Don’t involve my son in this.” Luca glared at Ava. “If I wanted to end Daniel right now, I could end him with my own hands. Just leave my family business here and don’t touch my son,” Luca said before rushing out of the room.

Ava glanced at Luca’s son, still laughing in Daniel’s arms, before following him.

The entire mansion had been searched, including his in laws’ bedroom, but Luca hadn’t found the necklace. Then, Luca overheard the maids talking about Grandma Sorella wearing his mother’s necklace, and Luca immediately felt his blood boil.

Knowing someone so lowly and despicable dared to wear his mother’s jewel.

"The maids said that she is going to the diamond now, let's get to her," Luca said as he opened the door for Ava and as they stepped down the hall towards the diamond room at the back, someone stopped them right in the street.

Luca stopped because he recognized who the woman was.

“My, my, my… Isn't this the handsome, stupid, wretched man who is Sorella's son in law?” said a woman while blocking Luca's path and pulling him towards her. "Luca Kane? Or should I say someone who looks like him? I always said from the start that it would be better for you to leave that ugly duckling Lisa to be with me."

"You'd better kneel and lick my feet as if I were your master than you would be a slave to the Sorella family!"
