Vincent Carter was an adopted and the elder son of the Carter Limited family company which was regarded as the city's most renowned company in Washington D.C. He was maltreated by his presumed mother Alicea who tried several times to kill him so that her son Mike who was concerned as the junior could take over the company when the grandmother could give out her share.
