4. The Unexpected

The Staff Inspector, Charles, walked to the group with a grim expression. Nodding back to the soldiers which immediately took a salute to him, he went straight to the point as he said with all seriousness, "Gentleman, we have a change of plan. There's an unexpected situation that has occurred."

Seeing the confused gazes of the soldiers, the staff inspector moved his gaze to their captain, Morlock, and asked with worry, "How prepared are your men in terms of weapons and equipment, captain?"

"Enough for subduing our targets, a group of killers, sir." hesitated for a second, captain Morlock asked back as he knitted his eyebrows, "With all due respect, sir. What happened?"

Seeing that their leader asked the question in their mind for some time, the group's attention shifted to the staff inspector, waiting for his reply. Watching that he had gained the soldier's interest, Charles's face  became sour each seconds as he knew there's many risks involved in his area of jurisdiction. Opening his lips, he said a sentence to everyone who had their attention on him, "Abomination, we had detected the presence of Abominations."

Hearing the word, every person's face in there revealed a look of surprise. Soon, those surprises changed into grim and serious expressions as they understood what had happened. If what they had guessed was true, then this won't be a simple mission anymore.

But different from the others, Luke, showed an expression of fear instead. His mind working in full gear as realization dawned on him from hearing the news from the staff inspector.

'Killers... Infiltrators… advanced gears supplied by the Empire.. Abomination in the heart of Federation…' Luke's eyes widened as his thought had arrived at one conclusion, 'The Empire… has been working with the Abomination?'

'Impossible! That's insane!'

Cold sweats dripped down from his forehead as Luke tried to reject the notion. What's Abomination? They are the invaders that came from space to take over the world! Their only conquest was the destruction of human civilizations. No one really knows why they were so fixated on killing the humans, but the Abomination first appeared eighty years ago when humanity finally had the power to explore space. One of the automatic satellites had taken the attention of unknown entities that were one billion and three hundred kilometers away from their planet and those entities tracked the satellite source which led them into this world.

War soon broke out with humanity against the invaders from the stars. Humanity has become united to repel the invasion as every country worked together to combine their magic and technology to create the super soldiers to fight the Abomination. Such was time when the reinforced soldiers came into being.

A human that was modified with machines to replace their body parts, along with being injected with mystical elixirs, created by the Wizard Union itself. As the greatest magicians organization on the planet, the Wizard Union had a leading role to rally all mages, affiliated or not, and become one of the strongest pillars for mankind's spearhead.

"How, sir?"

Squinting his eyes, captain Morlock looked at the staff inspector and said with a solemn tone, "The Strongest mage of the Wizard Union, The Black Crow, had shielded our planet personally with the Eight Trigrams of Elements. How could the Abomination have broken the shield to come to our world?"

Shaking his head, Charles said as he sighed, "My confusion is as deep as yours, soldier. But we checked with it the A.W.S.D. (Abomination Wide Scale Detector) multiple times. The machine can’t be wrong."

Still unconvinced, captain Morlock was about to say something. But before the words left his lips, a tremor that shook the whole city had occurred, with the building one hundred meters away in front of them as the center. Seeing that something wasn't right, the leader of division 12, Royce Esllimburg, walked to the staff inspector Charles and saluted, "Sir, our team had done with our preparation and was ready for launch."

"Roy…" muttered Morlock as he saw the face of the man in his early thirties and had emerald hair.

Glanced slightly to Morlock, Royce replied while clicking his tongue, "Tsk, so you are in here, geezer."

As Charles was about to reply to captain Royce, the communicator on his ear began to tremble as a call suddenly came in. Raising his hand to signal for both of them to be quiet, the staff inspector Charles moved his right hand finger and lightly pressed the communicator on his ear, "Yes?"

With each passing second, the staff inspector's face becomes somber. After a few minutes of grunting to reply to the other party in the call, he closed it and stated, "My officers just notified me that they had detected several Abominations signs in the area. Not only there's one in the factory building in front of us, there's another two locations behind the building with similar signs."

"Prepare your mech armor, soldiers. This case was above my authority. I would like to have the Gold Eagle to immediately head at the two locations behind. While you, Division 14, the Crimson Snake, would go to the area in front of us and subdue any hostile entities. I'll allow open fire should the need arise." continued the staff inspector as he took a salute, "Well then gentleman, I have to notify the HAC's headquarter for this. Gold Eagle, you could depart right away. Crimson Snake, let your portable control connect with the army's supply base right now because you wouldn't be able to once you are inside the hostile area. Your time to wear the armor would be three minutes, no less."

""Yes, sir!"" saluted everyone present as they quickly left to attend to what they need.

Furrowing his eyebrows, Luke pressed his communicator as he typed something in his holographic screen, "Activate the War Android, code 69852."

"[Confirmed. Your War Android would be activated shortly.]" a mechanical voice of a woman replied in his communicator as a loading display appeared on his screen.

Pulling out a black box as long as 70cm and width of 40cm from his enchanted, high-tech black bracelet, Luke then typed a few times in the black box while he kept track of the loading display. Looking at what Luke just pulled out, one of his colleagues, Andie, suddenly asked, "You brought your Android's drone? Since when?"

Chuckled lightly, Luke replied, "I just want to be prepared in any condition, better safe than sorry."

Glancing  back at his holographic screen, Luke saw that the loading had already reached 97%.

98%

99%

100%

Soon, a humming noise sounded from the black box as another female voice appeared on his communicator.

"[The War Android, Rosemare, had been activated and ready at your service.]"
