Chapter 5

"That would be 2000 credits."

Nodding his head, Yunzheng walked to the strapped device at the entrance of the bus and placed his Exwatch a few centimeters between them. A second later, soft buzzing noise emerged and blue lights scattered to scan the watch for a while until they disappeared completely.

When he got off the bus, Yunzheng activated the watch on his right wrist right away and saw the hologram display, which told him that his balance had reduced by 2000 points.

Fiddling with the little gadget a little more, Yunzheng thought that the item was indeed much more convenient to carry, replacing the smartphone industry and not to mention, the so called air touch was kind of cool. Because of his long age, he was rarely surprised since he knew most things in the cultivation world. This, however, brought quite a novel feeling to it.

He gained his Exwatch and the credits thanks to the young college student before. Nothing a simple hypnotizing technique couldn't fix. Still, there was much to learn even with someone's help. World has changed, way bigger in scale than he ever expected and he couldn't entertain the thought of being a peaceful ordinary Joe.

He has to get stronger, eventually. For now, his priority would be learning about the well being of his family, which he became less pessimistic as he walked. Although not as much as a couple centuries, at least fifty years had passed since the day of Doomed Land, where the bugs crawled, flooding through this realm and conquering everything they've seen.

Until the only thing that was left would be the sky itself. And such, humanity has to cower and rebuild themselves with new paradises. Fortress of sorts, to fight and nurture the next generation of supers and fight against the invaders.

Even the common sense itself had turned upside down, where someone with superpower would be something that was hardly shocking. At the very least, that would be a good prospect for him to get a job in the future. Less he would sleep on the street or the park.

A building that was easily as big as a football field entered his sight. At the front, parked blue and white cards lined neatly. A big logo glimmered under the sunlight with words bigger than his head placed right below it.

The headquarter of the police, the peacekeeper of laws. The right place where he would learn all about him and his family. Now, all he needs to do would be to grab some unlucky cop and...

Out of nowhere, a few hundred meters away, the ground burst and sent rocks and giant debris into the air. Emerging through the giant hole and the middle of the eruption was a person clad in flames from head to toe. Just when he looked at the sky and was about to fly, something big rushed to strangle his whole body, causing the former to snarl and scream in pain.

The cracked asphalt and stone quickly merged together into a towering being. Made out of rocks and gravel, it stood two legs, humanoid in shape yet no detailed features such as face or ears. After some time, the stone giant released the blazing sod, watching him fall to the ground all limp and unconscious. The flames turned to sparks and disappeared without trace.

The cops nearby marched past the stone giant and handcuffed the slumbering man. Meanwhile, the giant slowly crumbled and revealed a delicate and curved body beneath. Silky hair fluttering as she landed in grace, without even any dust covering her appearance, a little wonder for even Yunzheng.

The woman talked with the police and they walked together side by side to the headquarters. The onlookers around used their Exwatch to record the short scene with some whistling at her. Then, it dawned on Yunzheng, that his task might not be as simple as he would have thought.

Sneaking into a building guarded by a superhuman was something. However, he couldn't be sure that she would be the only one. He needs more information and time. Though regrettable it was, his current strength couldn't afford the luxury of being silent and undetected.

With a heavy sigh, he narrowed his eyes and turned away. Many sort of techniques crossed his mind but none of them would be available for him. At the same time, the quantity of the energy in the air was too thin for his liking.

'Could the system do something about this?'

A transparent panel appeared before him and told him about the contract option. Yet, he could only access the feature after 20 hours.

'Great, so in the meantime, I'll be on my own.'

Unsettled feelings bubbled within while Yunzheng gripped his fists. Conventional method would take too long and he didn't want to wait any longer.

He went to the nearby alleyway and sent energy to his legs. In a few breaths, he soared high and hopped around the rooftops. Breeze brushed through his cheek and he wandered his gaze around, raising his four senses to the max until he found what he sought for.

A scream of help and it was nearby, around ten blocks at most. Riding the wind, he stopped at the top of another skyscraper building. Below, a middle aged man was surrounded by five people, twice bigger and more muscular than him.

Only one of them makes a short work out of the unlucky man. From the snippets he has heard on his position, apparently some debt collectors went rough at one of their clients for not giving what they should have, demanding what's in due.

And like the classic scene out of a movie, they acted just the same. Meanwhile, despite the middle aged man's repeated cries for forgiveness and promises, one of them didn't stop his punches.

'They would work.'

Deciding the fate of those debt collectors, Yunzheng stepped over the edge and let gravity pull him. Before long, a loud bang announced his presence as the concrete cracked under the impact of his energy-filled legs.

"I'm here to execute justice."
