Attending A Party

"Looks like you're pretty sure, huh..."

Alexander nods firmly in response to Leville's words.

"Let him as what he wants, Father. As long as later, he endures all the embarrassment at the party!” said George curtly before he leaves to take his partner into his chariot.

Alexander knew very well how nobles thought. The pride is so high, they seem to think that they are special humans. To the extent, most of the nobles consider the common people are just a stepping stone for them to achieve their dreams.

Memories of Baron Leville, Alexander has a pretty good impression of him.

There are indeed one or two nobles who don't really care about the thought of themselves being considered special or chosen people.

'But well, one or two people will definitely have a different mindset...' Alexander smiled a little, before he walks away followed by Azura who is still holding Alexander's hand towards his horse carriage to start the journey to Duke Kinston Residence.

The trip will take a long time, around half a day or even more if there are unexpected disturbances on the way.

During the journey, the two of them in the carriage, Alexander keeps staring with a complicated look at Azura who only lowers her head. Unlike usual, he is now thinking about the worst possibilities at the party that are related to Azura's fate.

'Regret is useless now. But to be used as a lesson, of course very meaningful. That way, I have to act more carefully and calculatingly. I was too selfish, to the point of forcing Azura to accompany me to the party…' Alexander takes a deep breath.

Yes, Alexander realized one thing from his selfishness and thinking which he felt was too shallow. A regret like reminding him that time cannot be turned back, what has happened can only be accepted with grace.

Or, time can not be repeated, but a thing that is not expected to be repaired.

That's what Alexander understood.

Even his family looked down on Azura, let alone other people.

Those who know Azura do not look down on her when they see her as a fellow citizen. But now it's different, Azura will probably rise in people's eyes after they see how romantically Alexander treats her.

People in fact only feel jealous and do not accept the fate that befell Azura. Especially, for those who are girls the same age as Alexander or parents who have daughters.

Why did a mere widow seduce Alexander and not her young self? Maybe, that's how the people who feel jealous of Azura think.

The sun slowly seems to move, while the Baron Leville family's chariot group do not stop at all. So that two to three hours before sunset, the group arrive.

...

A grander wall half the size of Ympilia Fort separated the Duke Kinston Residence from the city. Behind that wall, there is a large courtyard with decorations that are pleasing to the eye and sure to please any guest invited by Duke Kinston.

There is also a place where the horse-drawn carriage was parked, that’s where the Baron Levilles are now.

The waiter who is waiting there seems to be meant to serve the invited guests who come. As soon as the members of Baron Leville's family one by one got off the carriage, the servants immediately greet them respectfully.

Each pair is accompanied by a waiter to guide guests to the place where the party will be held. What a splendid service, Alexander thinks.

Somehow Alexander now calls it, the inside of this residence is even more magnificent than the royal palace in his previous life. Antiques, such as paintings on the walls, statues made of a mixture of precious metals with ordinary metals, even to the point of a glistening cup filled with various kinds of mineral rocks such as sapphire, emerald, diamond, topaz, amethyst, peridot, tourmaline, the moon, and the ruby rose behind the glass on a pedestal.

It isn't just Alexander who is amazed, even Leville himself who incidentally as a baron which should have seen things like this many times is still not used to being confronted by the grandeur of the inside of the Duke Kinston Mansion. But of course, no one carelessly showed their enthusiasm.

Alexander smiles slightly seeing Azura who doesn't know how to act like a noble, he is happy about it and doesn't feel ashamed to make her a partner for this party.

'A servant who works professionally, huh...' Alexander also knew, the servant whose eyeballs stole glances at Azura from time to time hid his discomfort towards Azura's attitude well. He shook his head, before he snorts softly.

After passing through the street that is still inside the Duke Kinston Mansion which is lined with neatly lined variations of full-plate armor that looked dashing and intimidating just by looking at it, they arrive at another room that seems to bridge two large staircases next to the room to go to the living room where the party will take place.

They climb the stairs one by one, which is deliberately made short on each step in order to provide comfort to anyone who passed, then at the top there is another flat floor that connected the stairs to a large door.

Two guards in full uniform immediately open the pair of doors at the same time when they saw Baron Leville's family entourage visible. Without even needing to be told, they have recognized the symbol engraved on the clothes worn by Baron Leville.

If that man doesn't move, perhaps only Baron Leville would have noticed his existence, having grown used to such things.

Yeah, almost everyone gasp when someone appeared to appear from the wall to the right, when in fact that person was already standing there with the two doormen. Somehow, but he suddenly made a shocking move. His manner of moving is so elegant, he walks to the center of the door and immediately calls for the arrival of Baron Leville's entourage facing the room after he paid his respects to the newcomer.

...

The room is so wide that it gives splendor to those who have just seen it, plus the large pillars that support the roof of the room stand proudly in a row in the middle of the room. Tables surrounded by two chairs are around the edge of the room, leaving the middle of the room empty, it seems that it was deliberately set aside for the dance later.

At each table, there is a small nameplate as a sign for guests that they are placed at the table. Duke Kinston deliberately did not allow guests the freedom to choose their place, fearing that there would be chaos.

As soon as Baron Leville's party entered, they see that there were several guests who had arrived earlier.

Baron Leville tells everyone to go first to their respective tables. He seems intent on greeting the other three nobles who are currently talking while standing apart from their family members.

Alexander follows the Waiter who leads him to the table that had Alexander written on the board above the table, that is the place reserved for him and Azura. His position is at the very edge of the room close to the large glass window, while the other are in front of him facing towards the middle of the room.

When viewed as a whole, each head of the family and their spouse are positioned at the outermost ranks. Then, followed by the oldest family members and so on, until the outermost part of the ranks or at the very edge of the room is occupied by young people.

'Thin glass, isn't Duke Kinston afraid of harming guests?' Alexander frowns. He can't understand the pride that Duke Kinston has, so that person doesn't care about the risk when so many glass breaks.

Alexander thinks, maybe just getting pressure or vibration due to a small earthquake, these glasses will break.

The glass that covers the window is clearly visible, deliberately bolted thin, while the window is very wide. Logically, even high-quality glass will still be easily broken and dangerous, when placed in these windows. Moreover, along the walls of the room other than the room parallel to the entrance is dominated by windows covered with thin glass.

How would it be that when an unexpected earthquake occurred, then the surrounding glass shattered, wouldn't the people on the very edge of the line be in danger? thinks Alexander.

"But well... If that happens, I just need to protect Azura..." Alexander mutters which is still heard faintly by Azura.

"What are you saying, Alexander?" asks Azura who’s curious.

"Ah!? Nothing interesting. I just can't wait to dance with you..."
