Breakfast fo Quella

Kenneth went to the kitchen to get some food. He planned to eat in the kitchen with the servants, but Kenneth remember of Quella. So, he decided to bring food to Quella's room so he could breakfast with his wife.

“Quella, here I brought you breakfast. Let's have breakfast together."

"I would rather not eat. I'm not hungry, and I would rather not eat."

"Okay. If you don't want to eat, then I won't eat either. We will starve together.”

"Up to you. Do you think I'd care if you starved? I don't care about that at all."

"Okay." Kenneth placed the plate of food on the table, then he sat on the sofa to watching Quella.

In the long run, Quella began to feel uncomfortable because Kenneth was always staring at him. "Why do you keep looking at me like that?"

"I'm not allowed to do anything in this house, so I just can to watch you."

"I don't allow you to look at me like that either!"

"Oh, alright." Kenneth turned around and lay down on the bed. Kenneth decided to sleep.

A few minutes later, Quella felt her stomach was hungry. She kept her eyes on the food on the table. While Kenneth was sleeping, Quella decided to eat the food. But her legs hurt, so she just could to reach the food with her hands. However…

Pranggg…

The plate of food fell to the floor. Kenneth woke up immediately.

"What's wrong, Quela? Why did the plate fall? Oh, do you want to take the foods? Are you hungry?” Kenneth went straight to Quella.

"Not. I am not hungry. The plate fell by itself."

Kenneth just smiled when he saw Quella who didn't want to admit it. Actually. Kenneth was only pretending to be sleeping, he also peeked at Quella who was trying to reach the food on the table. "Wait a minute, I'll clean this plate and I'll bring you some new food."

Kenneth cleaned up the broken plate, then Kenneth returned to the kitchen.

"What are you looking for, Sir?" A servant asked Kenneth.

"I want to get some food for Quella, she's hungry."

"Here we have prepared food for Miss Quella." The servent gave a full meal on a tray, there were bread, cereal, omelets, milk and fruits. It was different from Kenneth's meal, which was just whole wheat bread.

"Thank you, I'll take its to Quella's room." Kenneth returned to Quella's room with the food.

"Why did you bring me that food? I am not hungry!" Quella snapped at Kenneth.

"Pleas, eat! I know you're hungry." Then Kenneth fed Quella. But Quella couldn't withhold her hunger, so Quella ate the food too. Kenneth was smiled.

"Why are you smiling like that?"

"Nothing. I just like to smile."

"You're a strange man."

"You're a beautiful girl."

“What do you mean by praising me like that? Are you seducing me?”

"No, I'm just telling the truth. Let's eat some more." Kenneth fed Quella again.

A few minutes later, Quella said, “I'm full, the leftovers of the food is for you. You haven't eaten either."

"Oh thanks for taking care of me, Quella." Kenneth eats Quella's leftovers.

"Aren't you disgusted by eating my leftovers?"

"Not. It's delicious.”

"What a strange man!"

Kenneth also devoured the food until there was nothing left.

"Where are you going?" Kenneth asked Quella when he saw Quella get up from her bed.

"I'm going to the bathroom.” Quella said.

"Your leg still hurts, let me help." Kenneth took Quella's hand, but Quella brushed it off immediately.

"Don't ever try to touch me!"

“I just wanted to help you, Quella.”

"I don't need your help."

“Hmmm, stubborn.” Kenneth snorted.

“What did you say?”

"You are a very strong girl." Kenneth corrected his words immediately.

Quella walked into the bathroom with a limp. A few minutes later, she came out of the bathroom with a clean face. Kenneth was wonderstucked by Quella's beauty. Even without any makeup on, the girl already looks so charming.

"You're watching me again?" Quella snapped at Kenneth who was staring at her.

“Oh, I think you should change your bandages now. Please, sit down, I'll prepare it for you."

Quella complied and sat on her bed. Meanwhile Kenneth took a new bandage from the drawer.

“Have you studied medicine? Why do you look good at treating my wounds?” Quella asked Kenneth who was changing the bandage on her leg.

Kenneth smiled a little. “Since a young age, my mother taught me how to treat my own wounds. Because I used to be very naughty, I liked to run so often I fell and my feet were bleeding. I've stepped on broken glass like this, I've even stepped on nails and zinc."

“Why did your mother teach you how to treat your own wounds? Why didn't he take you to the hospital?"

“Hospital fees are expensive. It's better if the money we have is used to buy food. After all, a wound like this is only a minor wound."

"Are you from a poor family?"

"Hmmm, my mother forbade me to call our family poor because according to her we are rich enough with all that God has given us, such as complete organs and breath that is still blowing, it is the most valuable treasure. But my mom and I weren't as lucky as you and your family. I don't have what you have right now, like a house, nice clothes, a vehicle and so on."

Quella fell silent at Kenneth's words. "This is getting weirder I guess. Why did my father marry me to a poor man like you?”

"I'm not poor, Quella."

"You are a tramp!"

“Ah, your mouth is sharp too, huh. But well, it seems I have to accept my life, yes I am a tramp."

"Oh yeah, where is your mother now?" Quella asked Kenneth.

Kenneth seemed to gulp his saliva first before answering Quella's question. "My mother died when I was ten."

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." Quella regretted asking the question to Kenneth.

"It's okay. It's been a long time, now I'm used to living without my mother."

"If I may ask, what caused your mother to die?"

"Because of starving for days. My mother is a liar. She always told me that she had eaten, and she gave me all the food. But it turns out she hasn't eaten at all. Until finally my mother died of starvation.”

Quella fell silent again, saddened to hear Kenneth's story about his mother.

“That's why I don't want you to lie about being hungry either, Quella. If you're hungry, just say so. Don't hold your stomach because that means you're just hurting yourself.”

Quella lowered her head. "I really want to hurt myself, I want to die," she said.

"But I don't want you to die. You have a long life ahead, Quella, there's still a lot you can do in this life. Don't decide to end your life just because you were betrayed by one person. You should get up and show him that you can live without him. And then, you have defeated him.”

"You don't know anything about my life. So don't patronize me like that. Come out. I want to change my clothes.”

"Okay, okay. I'll be waiting at the door. When you're done, you can call me again." Kenneth came out of the room.

Quella watched the man who was closing the door. Quella still wonders why her father married her to a poor man like Kenneth. What was her father's real purpose?
