masked [2]

The lady has nice curves in the right places, and even though she was wearing a mask, one could tell she was very beautiful; however, why was she running in the dark as if someone was after her life?

"Jian, give her a quick evaluation and tell me what her true cultivation is." Mo Fang instructed Jian quietly.

Jian started the evaluation right away and sent the results to Mo Fang.

[Low stage, 2-star realm]

'Low stage, 2-star realm, that's terrible, but why is she running around the forest like something is after her?' Her blood energy, on the other hand, will boost my credit.' His lips curved into a smile.

It was nighttime, and the moon was visible in the sky, but it couldn't reach the forest floor due to the massive trees' leaves.

The masked lady ran as if she were being pursued by something; from the looks of it, whatever she was looking for wasn't a beast, but rather a human.

'I see her, but she doesn't see me.' Mo Fang smiled in his heart and moved on with light steps to a nearby tree, then to another, and then to another.

His footsteps could not be heard, but the sound of the wind beating against the smaller plants could, which raised the masked lady's suspicions.

Her step came to a halt, and her hands moved to a small bag containing her daggers, from which she drew two of them.

Her eyes were filled with fear behind the mask.

Her hands were shaking and her body trembled as a result of her fear.

She is a little out of breath after the long run; she could have panted to replenish oxygen, but she chose not to.

Instead, she used internal energy to restore it, but her gaze remained fixed on the surroundings.

Whooom.

She noticed a shadowy figure passing through the trees and focused her entire attention on the tree.

She threw one of them in that direction.

Phew!

Boom!

When one of her daggers collided with the bark of the tree, it exploded with a loud boom, much like a grenade.

The tree that the dagger struck fell down, and the explosion caused the two trees surrounding the targeted one to fall as well.

The flame illuminated the area, but she still couldn't find the person.

"It's too late."

When she heard that voice, the masked lady felt a cold object on her neck.

The voice belonged to no one but Mo Fang, and the cold object was none other than Mo Fang's beloved sword.

"Don't dare to move or you'll be beheaded; now disarm yourself, throw that dagger and the bag around your waist, be quick, no foul play!" With a cold killer tone, Mo Fang instructed the masked lady.

The masked lady followed his instructions and disarmed herself.

Her little voice could be heard sobbing.

"What were you fleeing?" Mo Fang inquired of the masked lady.

"I'm not sure!" She replied while sniffing.

"You were running from someone, weren't you? I wonder who that person is, but I'm sure that person wants you dead, so be it; I'll give you death exactly as you deserve it."

Mo Fang, clearly irritated by her failure to respond, clenched his left hands around her neck, causing it to crack.

Pant!

She was panting.

But she still didn't respond.

Mo Fang became agitated and swung his sword at her neck, aiming for her neck.

But then there's this.

The breeze whistled.

With a clang, his dagger flew through the air and collided with his sword! Mo Fang's sword was pushed to the ground by the sheer strength of the dagger.

Tip!

Mo Fang sword pierced into the ground.

'What's going on?' Mo Fang was perplexed as he noticed his best friend on the ground.

"Please don't kill her right now."

The voice of a young man rang in his ear, or rather, in his head. The person was communicating with him through telepathy.

"What is your name?" Mo Fang inquired, his voice cold.

That voice, however, did not respond.

Instead, Mo Fang noticed someone approaching them; it was a young man taller than Mo Fang, with the elegance of a noble, neither fast nor slow.

An oppressive force was released from his body as he walked, causing small plants to sway in opposite directions.

He was finally shown the young man's face.

His hair was white, his eyes were blood red like vampires, he had a noble physique, his clothes were white with golden embroidery, and he carried a golden-handled long sword in a golden sheath on his back.

"Thank you for catching her for me, I owe you something," the young man finally said.

"I did not catch her for you," Mo Fang stated coldly. "Why do you require her?"

"She is a spy sent by someone after me, I just want to ask her a few questions and nothing else, then she will be given to you to do whatever you want with her, but you have to promise me you'll kill her afterwards unless you and I are enemies, anyway, my name is Sun Yang." Sun Yang stated unemotionally.

"Speaking of enemies, I don't consider you a friend." Mo Fang frowned as he spoke.

Jian gave an evaluation that even Mo Fang could ask for: [Peak stage, 2-star realm].

"You won't understand, but believe me when I say so," Sun Yang said after hearing Mo Fang.

'He appears to be someone I can rely on.' Why should I care about anything else as long as the blood energy is present?' Mo Fang reflected to himself.

"Ok." He released the masked lady.

She burst into tears and even cried out.

"I am terrified of you; please let me go." She sobbed.

Nonetheless, Sun Yang's face was frowning.

He raised his hands, which were immediately covered in red energy. The masked lady's body was immediately covered in the same energy, which began dragging her closer to Sun Yang like nails getting attracted to magnet.

"To which mercenary group did you belong?"

The masked lady had lost her expression; it appeared that the spell Sun Yang had cast on her had rendered her mindless.

"Dark Maple Mercenary," she blurted out.

"Who dispatched you?"

"The second young master."

"Didn't my elder brother send you here?

That cretin went so far as to hire mercenaries just to get rid of me."

Sun Yang asked the masked lady a few more questions, all about his family and brothers.

He undid the spell after he finished with her, and the masked lady immediately returned to her senses; she seemed to have forgotten herself and was moving strangely.
