Chapter 2.

The window slide open gently as a loud yawn could be heard, sluggish legs prod outside to the balcony while scrutinizing the height of the building.

"Hey boy in black!" A voice called and the legs swiveled at the being. A ball landed on its owner's head who picked the ball and let out a painful hiss.

"Loser boy!" The voice barked laughing at the victim of his wrath.

"Why did you call me that?" The boy muttered and more voices chuckled with mockery, he grew angry and attempted to throw the ball back but dropped it. They were three boys from the neighborhood, always good at tormenting his life and he kept calm to his temper whenever tempted to let it out. However, it wasn't helping as he was the kind that never expressed his pains but kept it in.

"He's a weakling!" Another added as their laughter became a roar to his ears which were becoming heavy of sound as he heard whispers and hurtful words from the past which made him fall.

"Stop that good for nothing boys" an elder ordered running to assist the boy in black who was shivering on the ground from fear. He looked so harmless that she presumes he would be scared of insects if he could be scared of these little ones.

"Oh boy, look at you" she mused as she raised him up, he stared at her without saying a word, his head was sore and swollen.

"At least say something when you're hurt..." She paused and attempted to touch his wound but he gave a bow instead and walked away. That was his way of saying 'thank you'.

"He's so mysterious!" She snapped annoyed that she even help him up, however her eyes met a note where he stood up. This lady intended to call out to him but he had gone, letting out a groan, she peep at the write up which read;

"A letter and a wish". She repeated the lines with a puzzled face as that was all that this note had.

"Weirdo!" She commented tossing the book to the ground before she starts acting like him. Often times, it is said that the innocent ones might be the devil as no one could read the hearts of another.

"Ethan right?" A delivery man asked as he wanted to be sure if he was giving the ordered goods to the right person.

"Yes" he said in a low tone and the man grimaced at him. He tried to peep inside the house but the boy slammed the door and came out while staring at the man who looked terror-stricken.

"I need your signature here and here" he beckoned directing Ethan on where to sign which he did.

"Thank you" Ethan muttered yet again in a low tone that made the man give up on asking what he said. Earlier, when the delivery boy knocked on this door, some pokenosers had seen him standing and waiting patiently for the occupant to give a reply, they were two teenage girls who whispered to him. These girls had told him he should pray he leaves there alive and he shouldn't bother asking the young lad what he was saying because it would provoke him. Perhaps he survived the mysterious boy and would testify if he meets those lousy girls. Ethan watched the man leave and got into his room while letting out a sigh, his room was untidy and he never bothered after all he was going to die soon anywhere, that was his wish, to disappear from earth and every human vanish from his reach. He sat on the bed and brought out a jotter which had so many wishes written on it, on his wall had so many names circled with red ink. He glanced at the box which he had placed beside his bed, he opened it and found junks pilled in it. Ethan lived unhealthy as that was what he fed on neither did he care as his time was almost up from earth. Another knock was heard and he closed the box, hesitated a little and got it opened while maintaining his quiet looks. It was the lady from earlier who helped him at the balcony, he wondered why she was showing concern or might be here to scold him.

"Boy in black, don't you have a name?" She asked out of curiosity.

"Its Ethan" he responded and she scoffed at his negligence.

"Here you left this" she beckoned and he thanked her. She had picked it up again just to spend time with this loner but he turned around to get into his apartment.

"Mind if you join me for dinner?" He paused and took a glimpse at her, no one mingled with him and her sudden kindness was suspicious.

"I moved in here some weeks and I guess you're new too with that timid face of yours" she teased but he turned down her offer although she expected that.

"Ethan before you go in, I just want to say, stop making wishes of death, it's creepy and when it comes, you would regret ever uttering such words, live life to your fullest because there's a beautiful future ahead of you" those were her last words to him before leaving for apartment. He banged his door immediately she left and glanced at the papers which was pasted on his wall with written names. A red pen laid on his mini table which he picked and added another new name on it.
