Chapter 8

At the Hales’s household was the entire Hales family gathered at the living room engaged in a discussion about the party they were all attending.

Mainly talking about how they would have the Great Five Families notice them and initiate a contract or any discussion that leads to a deal with them.

“Royce you go for the Wades, Oscar you go for the Jones, Vance you’re for the Wilsons, Charlotte you can go with the Stones. We already have the Parkers with us.” Lennox sat there on his private chair, assigning everyone to what they’re to do during the party, who to talk to and how to develop an interesting conversation.

“About the Parkers, my husband and I have discussed something and we would like to tell you all about it.” Abigail announced suddenly from where she’s sat with her husband, her hands all over him and a dirty smirk playing on her lips.

“What about them?” Vance questioned his niece sudden announcement.

“Well me and my husband have decided to pull back the deal we have with your wretched company.” Abigail said, her voice holding no remorse as she spew those words out to her family.

“Abigail is this a joke or are you alright?” Charlotte quizzed looking at Abigail with a creased eyebrows.

“She’s surely joking,” Oscar put in.

Sean; Abigail’s husband who had on a slightly awkward expression on his face stared at his wife, the only reason to why they’re married was because of this so called deal his family had with their family, if he’s pulling back the deal, then the family would likely separate them. He was also shocked because he never discuss any of this with her.

“If you want back the deal, I suggest you all chase that Lorraine of a brat out of this family. She doesn’t deserve to be here, she doesn’t worth it, she’s an ingrate that doesn’t know what this family worth.” Abigail voiced out in total jealousy, laced with disdain and hatred for Lorraine.

At this moment was Lorraine walking in the living room unnoticed, witnessing her name getting mentioned she moved back, leaning close to a wall and shielding herself from getting seen as she decided to eavesdrop on their conversation.

She knows they hate her and doesn’t want her around, but she can’t help but come back and try to talk some sense into her mother’s head if she would listen.

She knows it’s ridiculous, but the three days she spent with Avon was magical, it was the happiest days of her life, she has never felt that happy and alive never before. Those days with him made her fell in love with him. It was ridiculous but mostly awesome.

She wanted to see if she can reason with her mother quietly, but getting there she saw Abigail mentioning her name and wanted for her to be thrown out finally of the Hales’s Villa.

She wanted to see everyone’s reaction, everyone’s response to that, especially her mother’s; the one she had come to reason with, she wanted to hear what they all have to say without anyone knowing she’s around.

“What are you saying Abigail?” Vance was the first to speak up, giving Abigail a displeasing look.

“Oh don’t tell me your dumb brain failed to understand that.” She replied before she could stop herself, immediately clamping her hand over her mouth. It was too late, she already said it and everyone already heard her. She just called her uncle dumb in front of everyone.

Abigail was known for her pride and her sour attitude, always picking on the maids and finding a reason to bully Lorraine, everyone in the family except for the grandfather hated her for being like this and no matter how many times she was called out for correction, she always heaved a deaf’s ear.

At the heard that the Parker’s first Son was looking for a wife, Lennox immediately offered her granddaughter, her only use apart from causing drama and chaos in the family is marrying her off and gaining some profit over her. That was what Royce said when he was convincing his father to let his daughter marry the Parker’s first son.

Even after she was married, that only increased her level in behaving awful. She’s always been a materialistic girl ever since a child, and at the heard of her marrying one of the richest family in EastHill, she jumped right into the opportunity without thinking twice.

After the marriage, she become worse and disgustingly boastful, always flaunting her husband’s wealth in everyone’s faces. Her proudness leveled than before, her sour attitude got doubled.

“What did I just hear you call me?” Vance said, standing up gently from where he was sitting down with the calm expression on his face slowly turning into rage as he gazed intensely at Abigail.

“Did you just call your uncle dumb?” Royce also asked, amusement present in his voice. Finding it hard to believe that he actually birthed her.

Everyone in the living room was shocked, all gazing at Abigail who just called her uncle dumb and wasn’t even apologizing. Even Lorraine from where she’s hidden, she was awed, also happy that, that just happened.

Every time Abigail picked on her as a kid, Vance always supported her and would never defend her. She was kinda happy she called her that.

“How dare you little arrogant brat!” Vance charged at her in attempt to slap her when a large figure stood up in front of him, stopping his attempt from happening.

In front of him was Sean, protecting his wife from getting hit. “Please do forgive her insolent manners.” Sean pleaded on Abigail’s behalf.

Seeing that her husband stood up for her, she smirked rolling her eyes and reforming her bitchy stance, looking at the protective scene her audacity doubled. “I call him what he is and everyone make it seems like I’m the bad guy here. Isn’t he dumb? Or at least isn’t that what you all call him or made him out to be in front of me.” Abigail said again, her words filled with lies, scoffing at the end of her statement as she knew she had just cause another drama.

Vance became engulfed in fury as he fought to push Sean out of his face and teach Abigail some manners.

“I would not watch you disrespect your elder in front of me Abigail!” Lennox roared from his position in an angry voice. Silence roaming round the living room and sending everyone’s lips on nerve.

Shivers ran down everyone’s spine as all attention traveled to the old man’s face to see the judgement he would give for his precious granddaughter’s behaviors. Even with everyone always calling Abigail out and correcting her on her impudent behavior, he always seem ignorant and benighted about it.

“I demand you apologize to your uncle right now Abigail!” Lennox commanded in his deep voice.

Hearing that she should apologize to her uncle for what she said, her gaze traveled around the room looking at everyone’s faces.

From where she stood she began whining hoping one of them would defend her like always or her husband would support her, “Grandpa but I did nothing wrong, I only said the truth and everyone made it seem as if I said something-“

“Apologize now Abigail or get out of my house.” Lennox thundered in a firm voice, cutting Abigail off her statement.

Her lips stretched open in bewilderment, as she gaped widely at her grandpa. She scoffed angrily and proceed to grabbing her bag.

“If you all want me out, then I’m out of here, and you all can kiss your deal with the Parker’s goodbye as from today now.” She stated in anger, grabbing her husband by wrist and dragging the both of them out of everyone’s presence.
