A Prodigy is born

There was a heavy downpour happening outside the Lerain mansion but no one in the mansion seemed to care about that as family members, workers and guards could be seen pacing inside anxiously, eagerly waiting for good news.

In a large room, a beautiful dark brown haired lady can be seen lying on a bed with her legs wide open. Beside her were three other women in light blue robes, the outfit of midwives. The older of the three women had positioned herself in between the labouring mother's open legs, ready to intercept the baby while the other two were whispering words of encouragement and casting blessing spells on the lady. Everything seemed to be going smoothly.

Nana, the older lady though, knew everything wasn't that smooth as currently, she was in a dilemma. Of all her 103 years of working experience, she had never encountered a situation whereby the baby had such a weak energy signature which seemed like it would fade out at any given moment. Naturally, the baby should have been coming out with ease by now but because it was too weak, it was stuck right at the entrance of the vagina. Nana knew that even if the baby came out successfully, it would be very weak and would have trash talent. It probably wouldn't be able to live past thirty as its life force was negligible.

The crux of the problem was that the baby was the product of Sarah and Irias Lerain of the Lerain family. Irias was the family head of the family and for sometime now, he had been trying to have a son but to no avail. They thought that the problem was with him as his wife was perfectly healthy and fine but after checking, there was nothing wrong with him too. Finally though, they had been able to prove all critics wrong and Sarah had gotten pregnant, much to the family's joy. If the child died before it was born, it would bring untold sorrow to the expectant parents. In the same way, if it was born weak and talentless, in a big Noble family like this, the possibility of it being discarded or discriminated upon was very high as that was common in all Noble families to those who had average or no talent.

Suddenly, Nana sensed that the weak lifeforce seemed to be flickering out and was fading rapidly. "Surely, the baby is dead," she thought sadly, shaking her head in pity. That was when she had another surprise she least expected. When it seemed that the baby's lifeforce was on its last wheels and had faded out, it erupted with a powerful lifeforce, shocking the old midwife.

Nana got a grip of herself and gave the command to push. Sarah Lerain complied with the command and gave one last forceful push which expelled the baby and fluids into the outside world. Nana skillfully caught hold of the baby and severed the umbilical cord. Tying the dangling part attached to the baby, she completed the process and healed the scar with healing magic, giving the baby a cute belly button.

"Mwhaaaa!!" the loud cry of a defiant baby filled the whole mansion and outside, thunder seemed to boom in salute to the baby. The Lerain mansion was filled with yells of joy and relief as the servants and family members all heaved a collective sigh of relief and happiness.

"It's a boy!" Nana told the mother with a smile, as she accurately flipped the baby upside down and delivered a firm smack to the backside, making it cry our again. Nana used a spell to remove all the mucus on the baby's body and in its nose. She wrapped the baby in a white cloth and handed him into the loving arms of his mother. "That's a curious baby if I ever saw one," remarked one of the nurses as the baby looked around him and clutched his mother's finger tightly.

The midwives cleaned Sarah Lerain up and then let the overjoyed father and family members in. Irias Lerain hugged his wife and tickled his son on the chin, making the baby boy grab at his finger. "Oy Irias! you can't have the child all to yourself, let him come to his grandma!" shrieked Suzanna Lerain as she took the child from his father. Irias shook his head sheepishly at his mother's antics and watched in amusement as she had started to play with the baby, hogging him, much to the dismay of his aunties who also wanted to have a go with the baby. The baby had pristine aqua eyes and soft rosy cheeks. Brown tufts of hair covered his head, just like that of those having Lerain blood.

Outside, the heavy rains had stopped. Arudiz looked up into the sky with a smile and shake of the head. He straightened his gloves and got into the house, whistling a merry tune. "Welcome to the family, prodigy," he muttered.

Arudiz knew that this baby was anything but normal. The rains beforehand weren't natural but rather a sign. The world did not often show signs during the birth of children but exceptions were made to children with high magical talent or those who would make changes which shakes the world. "It's been a bit too boring, I hope this kid quickly remedies that," thought Arudiz as he walked down the hallway.

Meanwhile on a mountain nearby, a Mythical beast lifted its head in the sky. "So another prodigy is born huh, well humans have one more addition to their ranks of mages," thought the Phoenix. She shook her head and went back to sleep.

Memphis who had been reincarnated into this world was happy to say the least. A new beginning for him and he was finally going to experience how it felt like to be favoured by the heavens. His mother had finally been let alone by the family and she was sleeping with a wide smile on her face, cuddling her baby boy. "So this is how it feels like to be loved," thought Memphis as he smiled in his baby form and snuggled up to his mother.
