Family dinner (3)

Even though it might have seemed like Cassidy was ignoring everything that was going on, it was actually the opposite.

She was so nervous that she couldn't do anything but operate her phone. On the outside, it looked like she was very calm but underneath that dinner table her legs were vibrating.

"Hey Cassidy.", She suddenly heard a voice call out to her.

Cassidy raised her head to find out that the person who called her was no other than Kelvin. Her mind went haywire for a moment but she quickly regained her cool.

"Yeah?", Cassidy responded.

"Are we boring you Cassidy?, You haven't uttered a word since I got here.", Kelvin said with a smile.

"No, you are not boring me. I'm just... not a very social person.", Cassidy replied nervously.

"Oh, I see. Well, I don't like people being so quiet around me so let's talk for a bit.", Kelvin smiled.

Cassidy gulped a little after hearing those words. She got so scared that she would say something stupid and Kelvin would laugh at her.

Kelvin's mum on the other hand had a small smile form on her face. In her mind, she could not help but be proud of herself.

The only reason she invited the Smiths over was because they had a beautiful and nice daughter which she assumed that Kelvin would fall for and from what was going on, it seemed her assumptions were right.

While Faith was busy being proud of herself and Cassidy was wracking her brain so she know the right thing to say, Gary rolled his eyes after seeing Kelvin's interaction with Cassidy.

He had known Kelvin for years and he knew that what the moron was doing was all to get this girl on his bed. Unsurprisingly, Kelvin had a way with women.

Gary subtly picked up his phone and sent a message to Kelvin. Seeing the message on his phone, Kelvin looked at Gary and shaked his head.

The message read, "Dude, don't do this. You don't have to sleep with every girl you fancy.". Kelvin shaked his head to indicate that getting Cassidy for the night wasn't his plan right now.

Gary was a bit skeptical but he decided to trust Kelvin for now. If he noticed anything that he didn't like then he was going to wreck Kelvin's roll.

"So Cassidy, what do you do for a living?", Kelvin asked.

"I dabble in trading the foreign exchange market but I'm mostly into music.", Cassidy answered.

"Really?, That's amazing. I started my journey through forex trading and I've done a little bit of music back then."

"Oh don't act humble Kelvin, your album won a grammy award.", Faith stated.

"That much was to expected mother, I did spend close to a billion dollars on the album anyway.", Kelvin laughed.

"I've actually listened to your album.", Cassidy said.

"Really?"

"Yeah, it wouldn't be much of a stretch to say it's one of the things that inspired me to go into music."

"I'm honoured.", Kelvin smiled and Cassidy smiled back.

"To be honest, creating the album was just something I wrote in one of my bucket lists. Didn't know it would blow up the way it did.", Kelvin added.

"Was acting also something in your bucket list?", Cassidy asked.

"You've watched my movies?"

"I don't think there's anyone who hasn't watched your movies Mr Kelvin."

They kept talking about a lot of things and as time went on, Cassidy began to feel much more free around Kelvin. She even laughed more.

"Is it true that you joined the military?", Cassidy suddenly asked.

"No, I underwent military training for three years. That was also something on my bucket list.", Kelvin answered.

"Wow. If I may ask, why do you even create these bucket lists?", Cassidy queried.

"When you get to my level Cassidy, you tend to want to do crazy things to get yourself busy.", Kelvin smiled.

He sure had done a lot of crazy things in his time. Those bucket lists were just a way for him to find some excitement in his life. As someone that had achieved all there was to achieve, it was really hard to find something that would get his blood pumping.

"Honestly, I admire you.", Cassidy immediately kicked herself after she said those words.

"You admire me?", Kelvin asked with a smile.

"I mean that I admire your dedication to everything that you do. Most rich people just don't care about anything anymore but you're different.", Cassidy quickly corrected herself.

"Thank you."

That wasn't true. Kelvin knew that he wasn't dedicated to anything at all, he was just someone who did crazy things and was unbelievably lazy but he would let Cassidy believe what she wanted to believe.

"Mum, what about the food?", Emmanuel asked.

"Oh, sorry. I forgot.", Faith said as she got up and entered the kitchen to meet the chef she hired for the evening.

She had almost forgotten that she had to let the chef know when to bring the meals in because she had been caught up in the conversation between Kelvin and Cassidy.

Faith could feel the chemistry between them and silently prayed that Kelvin would not mess this one up like he did the others that she had introduced to him.

"You've been quiet for a while.", Kelvin said to his younger brother, Gregory. Since he had the same name as their dad, they mostly just called him Junior.

"Well, I've got nothing to say big brother.", Junior said while still fiddling with his phone.

"How are the kids?", Kelvin asked.

"They are good. Had to escape out of the house when they found out that we were having a family dinner and you were going to be here.", Junior responded.

"They want to see me that badly don't they?"

"Yep."

"My kids also want to see you Kelvin.", Emmanuel said.

"Yeah, I'm aware. Henry messaged me on I*******m last week. Apparently he's in college now.", Kelvin stated.

"He got in last summer.", Emmanuel responded.

"Wow, these kids are getting old though.", Kelvin laughed.

"And so are you.", Faith said as she returned from the kitchen and took her seat. "The appetizers will be here in a few minutes."

"Finally.", Emmanuel said with a sigh.

Kelvin just smiled. Although his mum didn't say anything else, he knew exactly what she meant. He was the second child in the family and yet his three siblings had already gotten married and had kids.

His dad didn't give him much trouble since he understood how Kelvin felt about getting married and having kids the way he was right now but his mum was not having it.

She has advised him multiple times to at least have a kid who would inherit his fortune if anything happened to him but he had always countered her by asking if she saw him dieing anytime soon.

"I just knew that there was only one person in this family that moved around with that level of security I saw outside.", A voice sounded a few meters away from the dinner table and everyone turned.

The owner was no other than the second female of the house and one of the world's most popular actress, Jennifer Gregory.

"Hey Jenny.", Kelvin said with a smile.

"Good evening big bro.", Jennifer smiled back.
