Chapter Five: Ex-fiancé.

CHLOE’S words attracted everyone’s attention. While Lorelei couldn't help but feel mad, she was trying to provoke Paxton to tell them that he has a luxurious villa and a limited edition car. But Paxton didn't say anything, he just let her cousin humiliate him.

“You should at least buy a new and expensive suit for your husband. He fixed your ugly face! Be grateful!” Chloe added.

Theodore laughed beside Chloe, “she’s your ugly cousin, right? Wow! She looked so different from how I saw her last time. I almost didn't recognize her.”

Paxton didn't like how Theodore insulted Lorelei so he stepped up, “she’s not ugly from before. It just happened that she got in an accident.”

“That’s still the same, she became ugly!” Chloe interrupted. “Oh! I think I know the reason why you married her. Is it because you want to use her as an experiment? To see if you can regain her beauty?” 

“No! That’s not my intention—”

He didn't finish what he was saying when the man behind them stopped him.

“Hey! You’re taking too much time!” he said in irritation. “I need to greet them too!”

Chloe was surprised to see the man behind them, she quickly turned her attention to him. “Lord Darius! Oh my God! I didn't know you attended! It’s great to see you here!” 

Darius quickly pushed Paxton aside so he could talk to the newly engaged couple. “Of course! Theodore is my friend, I should greet him,” he replied, flashing a wide smile.

Lorelei squeezed Paxton’s arm and whispered, “we should go now that they stopped insulting us.”

Paxton nodded but he was still looking at Darius. He knows who this man was, he is the billionaire ex-fiancé of Lorelei… anger started to build in his head. This man is who he has been waiting for!

When Darius caught their attention, he quickly noticed Lorelei beside him. 

“Wait, is this Lorelei? Lorelei Marshall? Your cousin?” Darius' attention shifted to Lorelei. 

He looked so surprised that he didn't even glance at Paxton!

“Yes! Can you believe it? I thought there was no hope for her ugly face back then!” Chloe chuckled. 

“Yeah, that's why I backed out from the wedding. And… who is this cheap guy with you?” Darius looked at Paxton and then at the suit he was wearing. His face flashes a disgusted look but the reaction that Paxton was looking for did not occur…

Paxton swallowed the lump in his throat, Darius didn't recognize him! Does that mean that he didn't know what the heir of the Cartier family looked like?

“He’s my husband,” Lorelei said, proudly.

Darius slowly nodded before smiling at her, “Oh! I thought he was your bodyguard or something. His suit doesn't suit here, look at how cheap it was. Where did you buy that?”

“Darius! He’s my husband, please don’t insult him.”

Darius just shrugged, he doesn't care about Paxton. “Forget it! Anyway, can I have a dance with you?” 

Lorelei didn't like the idea of dancing with Darius. It has been ten years since he rejected their wedding because of what happened to her face. Now that she regained her beauty, he’s asking for a dance.

She was about to decline his request when her father interrupted them. He pushed Paxton so hard that he almost fell on the ground!

“Yes, of course, My Lord! You can have a dance with my daughter. Feel free to take her on the dance floor.”

Paxton clenched his fists in anger. He was just there, standing beside Lorelei but his father-in-law wanted to give her to another man! He thought that they agreed to let them go after he got the deal.

He was about to take Lorelei back to him but Morgan blocked his hand and glared at him.

“Let them, it was just a dance,” he said in authority.

Paxton couldn't complain, he just stood there and watched his wife dance with another man. With every step they took, his eyes didn't leave them… from his distance, he could still see how awkward it was for Lorelei while Darius was smiling pervertedly. Like nothing happened in the past… until he caught his hands slowly moving down on Lorelei’s bottom.

“Hey! Hey! That was enough!” Paxton shouted.

Everyone turned their attention to him especially when he shoved away Morgan so he could go to his wife. Lorelei looked at him with worried eyes.

“What are you doing? She’s my wife! You have no right to touch her wherever you want!” Paxton squirmed then pushed away Darius from Lorelei.

Darius was furious after Paxton pushed him. ‘How dare he push him when he was just garbage?’ That's what Darius was thinking while glaring at Paxton.

“How dare you touch me?!” Darius shouted.

His shout caught everyone’s attention. It was embarrassing! A lowly man like him dared to push him! He wouldn't let him go!

“I was just telling you to stop touching my wife!” Paxton yelled back.

“You're just her husband, you don't own her. Soon you’ll end up getting a divorce, I’m telling you,” he smirked.

“A divorce? Who said that we will? We won't get a divorce.”

Lorelei touched Paxton’s arm, squeezing it gently to stop him from arguing with Darius. She knows how powerful Darius was and if they continued this argument, she didn't know what might happen to Paxton.

Darius lifted his fist, and was about to punch Paxton because of his anger but because there were lots of people around, he didn't continue. But then, when a waiter passed beside him, he quickly took the glass of wine and splashed it in Paxton’s suit.

Everyone gasped, they couldn't believe that Darius did that! Although it wasn't right, there are some who are laughing. They find this kind of act entertaining!

“Darius! That’s enough!” Lorelei exclaimed. 

Paxton's face turned pale white. The cold wine sent shivers down his upper body. It was the first time that he received such treatment but it was all fine. He can accept all of this humiliation. After all, it was just the beginning… Instead of saying anything, he just glared at Darius who was fuming mad.

“Get the hell out of here, you bastard! How dare you lay a finger on me! You look like trash! Now that I poured you an expensive wine, at least you become expensive. Be grateful to me!”
