CHAPTER ELEVEN

I Bought it

"quitting your job was not the right thing to do Jane" Ralph said to Jane

She watched him as he spoke, his hand akimbo.

"Why would you say that?"She asked.

"Look" Ralph continued. "you signed the deal, you should be the one to handle it. No one can do it better. You know the cons and the pros of it. Shouldn't it bother you?".

"What?". She asked again

"Ruining the contract. Those men aren't worth it can't you see" he responded

.

She thought for a while.

"You're right, I shouldn't have dumped the job, she said".

"But they've been mean to me; to us. I couldn't do anything. This was the only opportunity I had to pay them back a little".

They took the money from 9ther huge contracts that I've signed with big investors and all I get is an old car with no allowance whatsoever. That wasn't family.

He smiled when she talked about driving an old car.

"How was work today?" He asked, grinning at her. He leaned close enough she could feel the heat from his body.

"Work was fine". She replied, pushing him aside.

Okay.

"You should go to work tomorrow. CEO Taylor would not be happy with you".

He told her while he walked into the sitting room to watch his favorite billionaire show.

"Yeah sure. We will be having a review of the contract tomorrow so I will be there". she flashed him a smile.

Ralph brought out his sleeping mat from the top compartment of the wardrobe.

He had a special spot on the ground, he didn't bother. He had spent worse nights in the cold without a roof over his head for weeks before the good Samaritan took him in.

Come lay on the bed with me. She said to him,

He had a surprise look in his eyes. He couldn't believe what his ears heard. After months of lying on the ground with a sleeping mat. This invite was too good to be true. She had never treated him as her husband.

"Thank you", he replied to her, flashing Jane a smile that made her cheeks turn pink.

Ralph rolled up the mat and put it back in the position he had picked it from.

He laid right next to her. She smelled of Lavender.

**********

The alarm clock kept buzzing loudly. Jane woke up and prepared herself for work. Ralph was still fast asleep at the time she finished.

"You look gorgeous,'' he said , half asleep.

"You're awake! Good morning hubby" she said giggling.

She tapped him on the lap and left for work.

At the office, Jane had resumed early. She sat in the conference room waiting for the representative CEO Taylor would send this time for the contract review.

The door flung open in a moment Smith, Lyon and Travis came in and had their sit after exchanging very short pleasantries.

"Thank you Jane," Smith said.

She nodded briefly.

There was a brief knock on the door.

Travis stood up to open it, it was Dan.

"Hi, come in Mr. Dan we've been waiting for you".

Mr Dan gave Travis a stern look, almost ignoring him. He walked straight to sit next to Jane.

My Boss wants you to handle this project for you or he would cancel the contract.

"Why would he want me to handle the project myself out company has more capable hands".She said

"CEO Taylor has put in alot of money into this project and he wouldn't want to loose it to incompetent hands". He said this as he gave each of the three men a look.

He bought out the contract, and signed his part without raising his head.

She signed it and handed him a copy of it.

She was in for it now.

**********

Ralph had told Marie would be going for a stroll later in the day.

He did.

Ralph had gone to the car shop. He walked right into the store, in his shabby looking clothes. He was attracted by new models displayed the moment he walked through the main door. He scanned them a bit with his eyes before proceeding to the attendants. The sales attendants saw Ralph from afar, but after scanning him they didn't even move from their seat.

"Are Interested in buying a car Sir".

A newly employed newbie saw that no boby had bothered with this customer, so he went over to attend to him.

The other two sales attendants secretly laughed at how this newbie was so poor at judging people a d gently shook Their heads. A look of hatred flashed across their faces.

Having good experience in this job, they were good at observing clients with a first look. With Ralph's looks and the expression he has on his face he definitely couldn't afford any of the cars.

Clients with money looked more confident and elegant. He lacked every bit of it.

They couldn't possibly be bothered with attending to this man. Besides she's only a newbie who else would have her time attending to broke people who would only look and not buy?

"Of course, if I'm not buying a car then why am I here?" he replied.

"Which one would you like?"the sales attendants asked.

"Why don't you pick a really fine and good one for me". he said.

He could hear the other attendees laughing in a mocking way.

" This one over here is the 6 series, the latest model this year. The horse power specifications are all efficient and sufficient for your needs. And it's perfect for a woman too. It is very compatible with feminine looks too".

The sales attendant was obviously new from the way she spoke. She didn't give much of a sales pitch but she was the only one who bothered to attend to him the time he walked in through the door.

"I'm taking it then".

"Whao!

This response was from the new sales attendant. She couldn't believe she just made a massive hit from this poorly dressed man.

The other sales attendants turned to her direction. He had just come into the shop without taking any proper look at the cars and he wants to buy one just like that? It must be a joke.

He wasn't even going to ask about the price or do a little test driving? This was ridiculous?.

Sir, because this is a 2022 model, our company does not have any discounts for it yet". The sales girl said kindly.

"No problem".

Ralph pulled out his debit card from his wallet. The code is 101193.

"Kindly settle the number plate at once. Put everything in one bill and then take all charges from the card".

The attendant took this into consideration. It took her a few minutes to snap back to reality. This was too good to be true. She grabbed the card with both hands and joyfully ran to process the transaction in the cashier's office.

She had seen this symbol on the card before. It was a very special card only extremely rich people had and it requires a certain amount of money in your account to get. Definitely billions.

She worked quickly on the temporary license plate and asked him to stop by the shop in three days for the permanent license plate. She handed him the keys, the receipt and all necessary documents to the car. It was a BMW, $700,000 bill. He could afford more.

"we would service the car and fill in some petrol for free as a first time customer sir". she had told me.

He nodded.

This was a huge deal for her. The commission from this sale would serve her for a whole year. She would pay her debts at least.

The other two looked at her in envy as she danced back to her seat. They bite their lips in regret having missed such a big client.

The car was delivered to Jane at her office by a delivery man later that afternoon.

This wasn't happening. Who could buy her a car? She was sure there was a mix up and so she opened the brown envelope containing the car documents and there it was.

A note.

" To Miss Jane Abbey".

From a secret admirer".
