Chapter 3

The bullies attacked him at once, calling him names and asking how he dared date the school princess. kicking and punching him mercilessly. Steve cried out, but it all fell on deaf ears. The students were all having fun watching him being beaten up and assaulted by the bullies. Not even the school authority will be able to do anything, especially when it has to do with one of their founders' daughters, Mia.

Steve staggered back to his hostel and was ridiculed by the students he passed. Even though he was bloodied and wounded, no one cared and only laughed at him for even daring Mia Lawson. The worst thing that could have happened to him was that he had to run away from the students who attacked him.

Steve paid no heed to their mockery because of the pain he felt. His body pain didn't match up to his heart's ache still.

The pain he felt was nothing compared to everything he went through not long ago. After being mocked and ridiculed by the girl who he thought loved him for who he was, he got beaten by the students all because he told the truth about dating Mia.

Well, this is life; nothing comes out of being poor except being looked down on and seen as a mess in society. What was he expecting anyway?

He placed his hand on the side of his stomach and groaned from the pain he felt. He received multiple kicks on that part of his body more, and his head aches like hell. He was just a few steps from his room when he collapsed on the floor, groaning and twisting in pain.

The hallway on the ground floor where his room was located was empty, and no one was nearby to help him out.

"Somebody, help me." He cried, but it was only in his head before everything blacked out.

...

Steve groaned and turned his head to the other part of his body where he wasn't disturbed by the light shining in him, while his eyes were still closed.

His consciousness was awakened when he felt he was on a soft place, which seemed like a mattress. He remembered collapsing outside, on the ground, but now he was in a bed.

He opened his eyes and looked around, wondering where he was, but calmed down when he noticed he was in a familiar room. His hostel room He sighed and closed his eyes, but opened them almost immediately when he noticed he wasn't feeling any pain. He was almost dying last night, but now he wasn't feeling any pain in any part of his body.

He sat up, wondering how he got to his room and how the pain suddenly stopped, but he recognized the voice of that one person. He thought she would never say a word to him, which brought him out of his thoughts. He swirled his head to see where the voice came from.

"You should lay back, Steve; the medicine still needs some time to continue healing your wounds." "If you disturb yourself, you won't like the pain you will feel later on." "James, his roommate said, with his eyes fixed on a book.

James has been his roommate for five months since he came to the school, but he doesn't talk to him. James is an average student who loves reading and playing games but does not expect that. He is also among the students who consider Steve the school rat, and for that reason, he doesn't talk to him much. He is truly a weirdo.

"How did you find me and bring me in?" Steve asked curiously.

James dropped the book he was reading, looked at Steve, and sighed tiredly. That question was actually a dumb one.

"Obviously, you were lying in front of the door, blocking the way into the room."

"What medicine is this?" Steve asked again, looking at his wounded body, which was covered in some white substance.

James rolled his eyes and stood up. "Enough with those questions. "Just because I helped you this once doesn't mean we are close enough for you to bother my ears with stupid questions."

Oh well, that wasn't a stupid question. He rubbed something strange in Steve that made him relieved of his pain. Certainly, he has to ask. But anything that comes out of the school rat's mouth is stupid.

"I got that from the school clinic. "I hope you don't ask anymore questions." James replied with a calmer voice than he used earlier.

Steve nodded and said nothing else. He has a lot to think about. Even though he was betrayed by Mia, he couldn't stop thinking about her. She is the only one who ever showed him love on campus, even though it was fake and was just to get some money from a bet. He sighed and faced the other side of the bed.

He heard a smirk, which was from James, but chose not to look back as that might upset him again. James sighed loudly and sat on his bed, which was close beside Steve's bed.

"Could you ever think, Mia, that you would work?" You are funny, bro. "You are just a poor boy that no one will ever look at, and you think Mia Lawson will." James asked with a mocking tone.

No one was supposed to know about their relationship, but with the way James sounded, it was as if he knew the two of them were dating.

Steve faced James with a raised eyebrow.

"You don't have to look so shocked." "I sleep in the same room with you, and this isn't a secret to me." He laughed and laid down. "You are such an idiot."

Truly, he was an idiot. An idiot is thinking about the same person who just embarrassed him and broke his heart hours ago. The same person who used him to get a car Such an idiot...

Steve was interrupted from his world of thoughts by a heavy knock. None of the guys were expecting anyone, and so the knock was a bit alarming, but it was already morning, so no one would try to harm them during the day.

James went to open the door but froze when he saw who was standing by it.
