Chapter 1

It is time

“Welcome.” Blake Walter - the butler of the Mirano family greeted his young master with a curt nod as he came into the VIP lounge of one of the family’s restaurant. The evening air was heavy with anticipation because that evening would determine the rest of the young master’s life.

He returned the butler’s greeting and sat down. Anxiety tickled his fingers as he could not help but fiddle with them.

‘If only Norah was here,’ he thought to himself. With a sigh, he adjusted his position on the seat and nodded for the butler to begin.

Blake snapped his fingers and a Corporately dressed lady walked into the lounge with a letter in the Gold tray on her hand. She bowed to the young master and waited for Blake to take the letter before bowing again and exiting the room.

He stared at the letter that held the news that would make or mar him. As Blake opened the letter, he read the content, and took a deep breath, trying to hide his excitement for his young master.

He met the eyes of the aging butler, a venerable guardian of his family’s legacy.

“Let me hear it, I can take it,” His voice calm and confident, in contrast to how he felt inside.

“Mr. Shane-Leo Mirano,” He began,

“Heir to the legendary Mirano family. You have proven yourself worthy of the family name, and as such, it is time for you to reclaim your rightful position as heir.”

“I hereby Congratulate you on your success. You have passed the test. Welcome back to the family.”

The anxiety he felt in his heart transformed into immense happiness and the weight of all those years spent in exile lifted from his shoulders as the butler finished.

Relief flooded through him, washing away all the bitterness and hardships he faced.

Not able to contain his happiness, he jerked off his chair, causing the chair to fall back,

“Yes! Yes! Oh God! I can now buy her nice things!” His eyes were tearing up with happiness.

The butler marveled at his master’s words, his weathered face breaking into a gentle smile. After hearing that he was now relieved of the burden he carried in his heart for five years, the first thing he thought of was showing more love to his wife.

“Five years, and I watched her work hard. She deserves the best things Blake, because she has proved herself to be a real woman. My woman. And now, I can now be the man she needs.” The tears fell from his eyes as he tried to blink them away.

Blake patted his shoulder and snapped his fingers again. “I could not agree more young master.”

This time, a different lady came, also dressed corporately, the same way the first one was dressed.

“Allow me the honors young master, to present to you The Bracelet of Jade, Your family’s symbol. You’ve earned it. Rightfully, if I do say so myself.” The butler handed the bracelet over to him.

Shane-Leo stared at the bracelet in awe. His heart pounding so fast and hard in his chest, he could hear it in his ears.

Blood rushed to his ears and his heart swelled with excitement and pride. He could not believe he actually did it. And now he was about to receive the Family’s Heirloom.

His Grandfather would be so proud.

The Emerald green hues of the Bracelet shimmered under the soft glow of the light by their table as the restaurant was dimly lit.

His eyes skimmed over the intricate patterns, embedded with Gold, etched into the smooth surface.

“The time has come, Master” the butler intoned solemnly, his voice tinged with a hint of satisfaction.

“Your mother ordered me to inform you that you have to present the Bracelet to your wife.”

A smile tugged at the corners of Shane-Leo’s lips as he imagined the smile on Norah’s face as he informed her of the evening’s events and every other things he kept from her concerning his family.

He could almost hear the echoes of laughter ringing through the walls of the grand manor as they welcomed her into the family.

He longed for this moment since they got married and he could not believe it was finally here.

“I’ll see you later Blake, I need to get to my woman first!” “Goodbye Young Master” Blake bowed in reverence. Laughing, he bid the butler farewell.

The hours passed slowly as Shane-Leo busied himself in the kitchen, preparing his wife’s best food, alongside other dishes that were also her favorite.

The aroma of roasted beef, along with savory spices filled the air, mingling with the soft strains of classical music that wafted through the room.

Each dish was lovingly made, after all, he was cooking for the woman who stood by his side through the darkest of days.

She was running late again, but she was the CEO of a company, hence a very busy woman.

‘It’s okay if she’s a little bit late, she’s coming back home to me anyway’ He thought, and forced himself to stop overthinking.

He relaxed by the couch and patiently waited for the Love of his life to be back from her stressful day.

As the clock struck midnight, the sound of footsteps echoed through the silent house, subtly announcing her return.

Shane-Leo’s heart quickened with anticipation as he caught sight of her silhouette in the doorway, her figure illuminated by the glow of the moonlight filtering through the window.

With a genuine smile, he crossed the room to greet her, his heart pulsing with love and longing.

However, as he drew near, he could sense an undeniable shift in the atmosphere, a tension that hung heavily in the air like a thick fog.

“Why are you still awake? She asked, her voice sharp with irritation.

“You should be resting.”

His smile faltered, and the glint in his eyes was replaced by a furrow of concern as he took in the distant expression that clouded her features.

Gone was the warmth and affection that had once lit her eyes every time she came back from work. Whether it be a good or bad day. It was now replaced by a coldness that sent a chill down his spine.

“I was waiting for you,” he replied, his tone tinged with disappointment. “I wanted to share something with you.”

Shane-Leo’s brows furrowed in confusion as he struggled to comprehend her sudden change in demeanor.

‘Why was she giving him the cold shoulder, did he do something wrong? But she would tell him if he did, she always did’

His eyes skimmed over her features warily, trying to check if she was acting or pretending, so she would catch him off guard.

Her response was like a dagger to his heart. “You did not have to wait for me, I have already eaten. I had dinner with a business partner before I came here” she stated flatly, her gaze flickering away from his own.

The air between them grew heavy with unspoken words as Shane-Leo’s heart sank like a stone in the ocean. His thoughts were like tidal waves, hitting hard on the premise of his feelings.

Something was amiss, he could feel it in the depths of his soul. “Anyway, I also have something to tell you. It’s quite urgent and important.” “Perhaps you should go first.” He half expected her to smile and break some good news to him.

The silence was deafening as she reached into her bag and dozens of papers spilled on the table. Shane-Leo’s eyes widened in disbelief as he took in the title boldly written across the top of the page.

The room spun around him as he struggled to make sense of it all.

“Why?” he whispered, his voice barely audible above the pounding

of his own heart. He looked at her teary eyes, Confusion written all over his face.

“Divorce papers??”
