Prologue
Quick feet rushed through the dark forest, their cold and tired breaths mixing together. There was complete silence. The birds, crickets, and even the wild animals had all hidden away. They wanted to avoid meeting the person or 'thing' that held such a strong presence, making the forest itself afraid. The quick feet stopped suddenly. Breathing heavily, they scanned their surroundings as the darkness seemed to close in on them, but they knew they didn’t have much time left. A piece of black cloth was wrapped around something in their arms, and they held it tightly against themselves. Out of nowhere, a dark shadow appeared. This shadow was threatening and lacked a face; it had only a head and a body, both covered in a dark energy. The mysterious person didn’t seem afraid; in fact, they looked ready to fight. As they prepared to confront the shadow, more shadows unexpectedly appeared, rising from the ground and closing in on them. They were outnumbered. There was only one option lef
Chapter one
In a forest lit by the moon, a girl stood, weaving golden threads around her. But something else caught her eye. Yes, the threads were interesting, but it was the boy standing a distance away who truly drew her attention. The odd part was that even from far away, she could see his striking blue eyes—like sapphires. Their gazes locked together as if they were magnets, and neither of them moved closer. It felt like they were both frozen in place. She wanted to walk over to him, but just as she made a move, she was suddenly awakened. "Lyrra! Wake up!" She opened her eyes to find her coworker and best friend, Emily, looking angry. Emily, who was 5'4" with wavy dark brown hair and hazel eyes, had a classic and elegant presence that radiated confidence. She was quite attractive. With her arms crossed and a narrowed gaze, she stood in front of Lyrra's desk. After a sigh, she said, "You’re sleeping on the job again." Lyrra quickly gathered herself, using her hands to smooth her curly ha
Chapter two
"This is insane," Kael mumbled for the tenth time that day. He couldn't accomplish anything—no writing, no sleeping, and not even making a simple breakfast. Why? Because he kept experiencing the same strange and mysterious dream for the past week. In the dream, he always found himself in the middle of a forest, surrounded by some golden threads that appeared to be weaving themselves together on their own. That was odd enough, but what was even stranger was that he wasn't alone. There was a girl in the distance, and although she was far away, he could clearly see her eyes. He had no idea how that was possible, but he knew they were beautiful—forest green. Whenever he tried to move, he found himself unable to, and then he would suddenly wake up. It was bizarre, really bizarre. This had been happening for a week, disrupting his sleep and daily activities. Now, as he attempted to make himself a cup of coffee, he just stood there, lost in thought about that annoying dream. He rolled his ey

Different books were spread out and flipped through quickly one after another. Various sizes of books were scattered across a table. A man stood in front of the table, his eyes scanning the pages. He sighed in frustration and slammed his fist down. "Eryn, stop searching for something that doesn’t exist. You are a scientist, for goodness' sake! You’re supposed to deal with facts and real evidence, not things that are imaginary or not real." A woman entered the lab where he was working on different tests. She wore a lab coat that looked a bit too big for her small frame. Eryn turned to face her; he was also in a lab coat. He had brown eyes, short black hair, and wore glasses. Being tall, he had to lean down a little to talk to her. "Sophia, what I’m looking for is real, not imaginary. I know it exists." She stepped closer to him. "Can you explain how a golden globe with golden threads exists? You also said it has the power to connect people to their soulmates." She raised her hands t
Chapter Four
Lyrra lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling. Her alarm had gone off a while ago, urging her to start her day, but she just couldn't move. She felt weak and tired, which seemed strange since she had been in a sort of coma for several days at the hospital. Even now, she still couldn't remember what happened that day. She had been having lunch and reviewing information about her clients when suddenly she lost consciousness and woke up in the hospital. Her mom told her she had been in a coma for almost a week. Lyrra shut her eyes, unsure of what to think or what was going on. It was especially confusing since the doctor had said everything was fine and there was nothing wrong with her. Then, she heard a knock at the door, and she knew it was her mom. Her mom had been staying with her since the incident, claiming she wanted to take care of her and was scared of losing her. Lyrra thought her mom was being dramatic. She sat up in bed and invited her to come in. A small woman with blonde h
Chapter Five
Lyrra stepped out of her boss's office after asking for leave. However, her boss had given her a stern warning: if she didn't return in three days, she would be fired. As she walked down the hallway, she noticed people rushing past her in a panic. Confused, she followed the crowd to see what was happening. When she arrived, she found her coworker lying on the floor in a pool of blood. Her boss hurried by, followed closely by medical staff. Nearby, she saw the same man she had bumped into earlier in the hallway. He was yelling, "I will kill you! You are going to die!" The medical team quickly subdued him and gave him an injection, causing him to become still and lose consciousness. Lyrra felt overwhelmed and couldn't process everything happening around her. Her hands trembled as she watched her coworker's almost lifeless body being carried away, along with the man who was also being taken out. Just moments before, she had heard him say someone would die, but she had dismissed it, thi
Chapter Six
Lyrra stood in the busy crowd, deep in thought. Her cousin had shared how her life was in danger from her own fiancé, yet there was nothing she could do except watch her marry the same man. Lyrra closed her eyes and let out a sigh. "What am I going to do?" she murmured. She glanced around the reception hall filled with smiling faces, unaware of the true situation. Across from her stood the newlyweds, greeting their guests. Isabel wore a tight smile, as if she didn't want to be there at all. This made Lyrra feel even more heartbroken. She turned away from the couple and was about to find a seat when she heard someone call her name. "Lyrra!" She looked up to see the couple approaching her and forced a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. "Oh hey," she said, noticing one of them looked tense while the other beamed with joy. The sight of Richard's cheerful face made her smile vanish. "Richard, congratulations on your wedding! I hope you treat Isabel like the treasure she is," Lyrra s

Sophia stood in the lab, staring blankly ahead. She looked at the messy table and felt disheartened about what to do next. Eryn had been missing for two weeks since the incident; he left the hospital on his own, and no one had heard from him since. She wished she could have stopped his obsession with that book earlier. When a coworker walked in and saw her standing there, it made her feel sorry for Sophia. "Sophia, coming back here every single time won't bring him back," she said as she stood beside her and glanced at the messy lab, letting out a sigh. Sophia turned to her and replied, "So we aren’t going to do anything?" "The police are doing their best to find him. Just stay calm; they will locate him," her coworker encouraged. "And what if they don’t find him?" Sophia asked. "They will! Let’s be optimistic. Come on, let’s go grab something to eat," she said with a gentle smile. ------------------Eryn paced back and forth in his living room, whispering to himself, "What's hap

"And your schedule for next week..." Aria listened as her assistant went over her modeling appointments for the upcoming week. They were in her living room, and she couldn't help but wonder why she had given her assistant a spare key in the first place. She wasn't excited about it at all. As she glanced at her assistant, who was still talking without pausing, she quietly muttered to herself, "I need a drink." "Is there anything you want to say, Miss Aria?" her assistant asked. With a forced smile, Aria replied, "No, not really. Is that everything?" "Not quite; I still need to go over your company's schedule," the assistant continued. Aria's smile grew even more strained. Before the assistant could continue, Aria cut her off. "Actually, let’s save this for another time. I'm feeling pretty tired, and I bet you are too, right?" "But..." "No buts—you’re dismissed." Without waiting for an answer, she stood up and headed to her room. Once inside, she turned on her phone and dialed Kae
Chapter Nine
" Nice place," Lyrra remarked as she looked around. "That's not the reason you came here. It's a condo, not a house," Kael replied while sitting down on one of the couches. "Same difference. You live in a house, and you also live in a condo," Lyrra shot back. Kael shook his head and sighed. "Let's just talk about why you're here." "Why are you so eager?" Lyrra asked as she settled onto the couch opposite him. "What do you mean, why am I eager? Aren't you curious about what's happening between us? You said you daydream about me." "Excuse me, I do not daydream about you," Lyrra defended herself. "But that's what you told me," Kael smirked. "No, I said I saw you in my dreams; it's different." "You saw me in your dreams; that means you daydreamed about me. Either way, your mind was filled with thoughts of me," Kael said sarcastically. Lyrra tried to stay calm. "You're right. Let’s just get this over with. Do you know what's going on?" "Nope, that’s why you're here—to explain it
