Leveling Up?
"He's still unconscious?" Dana asked, walking into the room David was laid in. Colleen sat on a chair placed by the window, watching outside as the day bloomed. "Yes. Dr Enitan came in a few minutes ago and checked his pulse, it's a steady beat. Meena also did her best to heal him. He should be up pretty soon." She responded, her face not leaving the direction it was, not even once. "This would have been us." She said. Dana shook her head, making to leave the room."You think I don't know that?" She asked, pausing. "I know we did the worst possible thing, but it was what he wanted, our safety over his." She added, leaving the room. "Careful, Audrey." She scolded the child who bumped into her on her way out. "I'm sorry." She responded, and she ignored the response, heading towards the stairs and down. Audrey walked into the room, scanning it. She slowly walked to David and sat on his bed, resting her head on his chest. "Please wake up." She whispered, an act that caught Colleen's
You've got a family with us
Meena stood at the Balcony of the Doctor's residence, staring into the setting sun. Below was her Bison Beast which the children had somehow had as amusement for themselves. As she watched them play, a small smile crept up her face, instantly fading as she heard footsteps. "Hey." A voice called. She turned around…it was David who was now dressed in a different outfit, although his cloak was still draped around himself. "Hi." She responded, returning her gaze to the sunset, one he joined her to view. He waved at the children who waved back, then faced her. "Why?" He asked. She withdrew from the balcony, now standing opposite him."Why what?" She asked. He chuckled, his arms folded. "You only wanted the reward, yet you supported the reward should be about Ladus even before you knew this place was a gold mine. So, tell me Meena. This isn't about gold. What is it truly about?" He asked her. She turned away from him to the railings, her arms folded on her chest. "You guys seemed good,
Ashes from the scales of Ares
David snuck through the window into his room. He was surprised by his friends who awaited him, arms held akimbo. He calmly took his cloak off and placed it on the bed, sitting on it. "I can explain." He spoke, they still said nothing, obviously holding back a lot to say. "Before you all rant, just know that I got something done already. I met with Gandu, we have the ways to kill a Dragon and I also got you guys a surprise." He spoke. "The one thing we're prioritising is your health. You seem healthy enough now." Meena spoke first, her voice always calm, always indifferent. "Instead of finding Gandu tomorrow, I've gotten what we need." He spoke. "Did you forget that we don't have weapons anymore?" Dana asked. "Well, all except Eder." She added, nudging him with her right elbow. "Fuck off." He grumbled, nudging her back. "See guys, that is the thing. I've sorted everything out, weapons included." He said, then selected all the weapons from the store, laying them on the floor. "
We're being hunted.
"She's awake." Meena spoke, leaving the woman's side. David had woken her up immediately the woman passed out in his arms and she complied. The woman slowly sat up, moving her face from left to right, as if to scan the environment for a threat, one she could not find. "You're okay. You're safe." David said to her, approaching her with his palm forward, making a calm gesture. She didn't say a thing, rather she drew her legs closer to herself and caught them between her arms wrapped around them. Tears began to trickle down her face and she started crying. "Calm down. You're alright now." He spoke, making to embrace her. "What is wrong?" He asked her as she relaxed in his arm. "They got to them. My family, my children. They took them all." She replied. "Who took them?" He asked. Her eyes suddenly widened, as though her reality dawned upon her. "They are coming after me. They are here." She spoke. In that moment, the horses began to neigh, stirring around the spot they were tied t
"That is Ares"
"I thought you wouldn't sleep." Meena spoke as David stood from his leaning against the tree's roots. Indeed he fell asleep eventually and was just woken up by her. He yawned, rubbing his eyes with his Palms. She threw two mint tablets at him which he gobbled up instantly. He followed her to the camp and served himself the breakfast of Beans and roasted rabbit meat. His attention went to the woman who was now beginning to look calm. Meena tried feeding her and she smiled, appreciating the kind gesture while collecting the meal for herself. The plates were disposable so he just dropped them as he was done with the breakfast and left the camp again, training his reflexes with his daggers. "Take it easy." Colleen walked up on him. He stopped, breathing quickly and normalised his breath. "I'm calm." He responded. She chuckled. "Not with that face, you're not. Spill the beans, new mission objective?" She asked him. He nodded, averting his gaze from her. "What is it?" She asked.
Ares is here
"You say Ares is here?" Eden asked, striking at another Demon with his sabre. The blade was becoming mudded with gore and blood. He flanked David who was also fighting off a great deal of demons per strike. "This doesn't seem good." Dana whispered. This defeated all motives of logic in her mind. Ares was a war god trapped in his own abode, him now attacking them was odd. "We're not going to wait for it, are we?" Colleen asked. "No, we're not. Stay here and keep fighting, I'll lead the first charge." David responded and took flight instantly. He soared the air, his sight aiming at Ares who stood from a distance now. He felt a little twitch in his mind and shook for a moment in the air. He checked his interface and frowned, it was frozen, glitching even. He noticed the great surge of Demons reducing and thrust forth, ripping through the tide of oncoming Demons. He hit Ares at the abdomen at incredible speed, at least he thought he did. At blazing, incomprehensible speed, he felt so
Let's Kill that son of a bitch deity
Colleen drew her Kusarigama back, the blade immediately beheading the last Demon. She looked at her comrades who were now exhausted and just laid on the floor, breathing heavily. Meena had healed all except David who seemed to be recovering fast even with his deadly injuries. She figured it would be best to reserve some energy as they fought the remaining Demons left. Well, that was all over now and they all rested. "Why did Ares just disappear like that?" She asked, hoping anybody would know why. To her disappointment, nobody did. "I don't know. It feels absurd and I'm only glad he did because we would have been dead." Eden said, his gaze on the floor. He remembered how he struck Ares with his Sabre and how the god grabbed it like it was a toy. He looked at his twin who sat a metre away from him. The sound of the spine breaking still resounded in his mind, replaying like that one song he couldn't get out of his mind. He wondered if there would be more close calls like that. They h

"The horses really did fuck us over with." Dana spoke as they treaded along the path nearing the mountains. "I'm glad our weapons aren't on them." Colleen said. Eder and Eden laughed, watching a snake they caught try to bite at them as they threw it at them each, grabbing it by its tail. "You guys really are freaks." Meena spoke, overlapping them on her Bison's back. The sun was beginning to set and the area was getting dark. They had to find shelter, a journey at that time of the night could prove nasty. "We'll find a settlement or a forest to settle in at night time. I can't afford us battling Demons when we should be resting." Colleen instructed. They acknowledged her words, still proceeding on the journey. David was lost in his line of thoughts. He checked the interface and it was working perfectly. He just remembered how everything began to malfunction at the sight of Ares. He wondered why his flight didn't, maybe because it was already a part of him. He stared at the dagger
Shut the Hell up
Ares stood before them, an evil smirk on his face. They all stood their ground, ready to face him, although they were wise to not attack first. "Why is he half naked?" Meena whispered into Dana's ear. "I don't know." The older lady replied, standing before the younger one as though to prove she was going to protect her. "What do you want from us?" David yelled. Ares only watched them, the same evil smirk on its face. There was no other movement on his part, not even the movement of his upper body to complement his breathing. "I don't think he's real." He whispered to Colleen who nodded, seeming to share the same thoughts. "We retreat." She responded, tracking back slowly. They all seemed to understand the message and slowly began to retreat. Suddenly, he blinked, taking one step forward. They stopped, their hearts almost jumping out of their chests. They all had their weapons in hand, prepared to fight him if he made a move against them. "I told you I'll be back." He spoke in a
It's a fucking Imp
They all landed on their backs, feeling the hard floor slap the base of their skulls and spines. They rallied, getting up, their backs turned against each other. They sensed quick, sharp movements from corners around their current location, all staying at alert as they felt the sounds. "Show yourself." Eden yelled. They heard a giggle and gripped their weapons tighter. "I won't repeat myself." Eden spoke, tightening his fists on his Sabre. Another giggle passed over their heads and they looked above. The rocky terrain above them being the only thing they could see. Suddenly, David stretched his right hand, grabbing something that seemed to fly fast. It was the creature stalking them and giggling, it was a small humanoid creature with animated features and a childish look. It was an imp. "It's a fucking imp." He spoke, releasing it. It giggled and took his form in its state, giving him a cartoonish look. "What's an imp?" Eden asked. David shook his head, his gaze fixated on
