A Bitter Sweet Mystery
For a long moment, neither of them speaks. It was as though both were filled with uncertainty or perhaps couldn't find the right words to say at that moment. The room is quiet, too quiet— The chandelier above throws shimmering light across Liliana’s hardened face, and Lizzy watches as her mother turns away, shoulders still tense from the shock of the news She sighs. “Maybe…maybe someone knows something,” Lizzy offers quietly, almost to herself stuttering half of the way. “Someone who doesn’t know they’re supposed to be afraid to speak.”Liliana’s head turns slowly, brows slightly raised. She is confused at her daughter's word that apparently was in a parable sort-of.“What do you mean?” she questions. Lizzy hesitates, then pulls out her own phone. “If I can’t get the answer through official channels… maybe I will go around them.”“Lizzy—” Her voice trails. But her daughter is already tapping, eyes flicking across her contacts. She scrolls until she finds a name: Katrina Moore.Katri
Whispers In The Shadows
In a secluded part of town a black salon car finally stops, the heart of a woman beats slightly with the sound of the frizzing rain. She is filled with fear, and holds her breath as she has no idea of where she is at the moment. Just a short while ago, all she could remember is trying to get a call through to Lizzy McCall, and in the next moment, this silhouette is standing right in the doorway. Now, the same man is towering over her as he stares out at the sky that looks so dark. She couldn't count the hours since they have been here, she didn't care… All she did was fear for her life.“Get down." His voice, unlike the aura he carried, is calm.“What do you want? Please, don't hurt me…I'd… I'll do anything you want.” She whimpers. The man before her says nothing as he run his hands through his hair feeling frustrated. It is as though he is waiting for something, or someone. But whatever it was, she couldn't wait to get away from this unknown location. There are no signs to tell her
Something Is Definitely Wrong
Back at Andrew's Base...All startled, the past few minutes for him had been confusing. He paced the room for the umpteenth time, gazing at his watch.“Are you certain she made it to the plane?" Apparently, he was waiting for that report that'd tell him about that woman, Katrina, but till now… Nothing! The mere thought of this going wrong filled the back of his mind with anxiety. He sighs. There, where Andrew sat, images from the previous moment clouded through his mind. He pushed himself with the back of his hands, popping himself up where he was leaning against the window. “I got the tickets myself and I saw her walk into that plane.” He gazed down at his friend utterly confused about his next approach. If he came off too hard, he might think of him as acting unruly and overreacting. For the next brief moment, none of them said anything. The brief moment of solemnity is disturbed as the sound of a knock comes in perfect interludes with the sound of two light thuds from the doo
Lost Not Found
Lizzy watches as the woman before her trembles, her lips quivering painfully as the wind breezes through the room.Outside, it still rains in torrent. She looks confused as her finger digs into the sofa with the other, circling round the cup of brewing coffee that was with her.“So is that all that happened?” Lizzy questions. She was still finding all this hard to believe. She steals a quick gaze at Lilian that is standing akimbo, and lets out a deep breath as she stares out of the window again at the sky that is hovering around her.“Yes, I didn't know what to expect because I came to you. You promised that I could always come, right?” She stutters, looking utterly scared.Lizzy feels a pang in her chest, and as she walks slowly to where she is, she has a lot on her mind, and the woman right there at that moment was the least of her worries.“Everything is fine now…” She mutters. As she touched her briefly, Lizzy could feel the torrent of emotions fleeting in a burst of her adrenalin
The Truth Or A Trap?
The last thing she wants to do at that moment is walk into the apartment. Not when she is still unsure of what could happen, but she is left with zero choices.Lizzy's steps are slow, but deliberate as they approach the porch again, this time more carefully than the moment earlier. It is almost as though she has this fear that anyone could pop out of nowhere.Till that moment, she has no idea of who it could be and that makes her more furious. Her heart sinks. As she reaches for the door, her mother suddenly holds her hands, shaking her head. “Are you sure about this? You know we can always go back and get the cops, right?" She suggests. “And tell them what?" Lizzy queries.Shrugging with no answers, her mother stayed close, neither of them saying a word. The light inside cast long shadows through the blinds, leaving their hearts in panic and anxiety. Both women take another step, worried. This time, Lizzy opens the door quietly.“Oh my God! You two scared me!" A feminine voice fil
A Hollow Mind
Still worried, Lizzy tries to return to sleep. It was one of those nights when sleep hardly came by for two reasons: One, It was cold as it started to rain again, and the fact that each time she shut her eyes, the nightmare replayed in her head, sending cold chills down her spine. For some reason she just couldn't shut that feeling out of her mind. Lizzy thought about how serial all of this was going. It was really a matter of time before it all fell apart.Still right there cuddled under her duvet, she tried to relax but couldn't. She kept twitching from place to place, while the rain pattered outside against the windows pane. When she can't stay asleep anymore, Lizzy drags herself up from bed and makes way to the dinning. There, her mom was. Apparently, she is having a hard time sleeping as well. "Can I have a glass of water?" She requests suddenly and immediately, her mother passes one to her.She watches as her daughter gulp down the tasteless liquid at a go, her tension and a
A Near Fate
It has been a long night, but soon, it was over… the overwhelming night that left her on her toes, already she had agreed to her staying. One thing is factual. If there is anyone that can help the situation, it is not this so strange morning.Lizzy groans as she opens the fridge. “What, we are out of milk?!" She calls out without looking back, her groan growing deeper. The mirror by the side of the refrigerator suddenly catches her attention, and she takes a quick glance at her reflection as she runs her fingers over the dark circle around her eyes. She has lost a quarter of her usual glow, and even her hair has lost its shine. Groaning, she leaves where she is standing, and makes her way back to her room. While walking back out, she bumps into her guest who immediately looks away shyly."Good morning, and…and thanks for last night.” She mutters. All Lizzy did was shrug, and walked past her before stopping. "Do you want to go outside?”It is merely a suggestion that brings a smile t
A Shadow In The Dark
A knock distracts her and she looks up suddenly with a look of concern. For some reason, she isn't pleased with the fact that she is being disturbed.“The door is open." She grimaces before turning back to her phone.Puzzled, she stared as Karina walks in with a bottle. She walked in holding something at her back “You’ve been in here all day. You okay?”Lizzy didn’t look up. “Just doing some research.”Katrina wanders closer. Her eyes drift to the laptop screen. “What's that?”“Yes, what do you need?" She asks instead, while staring at the other woman. She is frustrated and has no room for chit-chats.“I bought you this, thought to say thank you." Karina displays a bottle she had been hiding behind.“You shouldn't have, it is not necessary." Lizzy rolls her eyes.“I know, it is just a little gift." “Fine, then go get two cups." As Karina walks away, Lizzy turns her attention back to her phone. It was the closest she had gotten to unlocking her greatest mystery and she was bent on
Fake Identity
The meeting room is tense so far, and they have been in it for a few last minutes. Andrew sits at the head of the long wooden table, arms crossed, his sharp eyes scanning the faces of the people gathered. Half of them couldn’t see his gaze. The air feels so thick with suspicion, it wasn't frequent that he would venture out in such a manner but this felt like he had to."Someone's leaking information," he says, voice low, but freezingly firm. "And until we find who it is, no one leaves without clearance." He mutters to the people at the table who look at him with immense fear.A younger man to his right shifts uncomfortably in his seat. “We checked the systems. No breach.” he reports. Andrew shoots him an icy glare. “Then there's someone inside, because there is no way to explain how this information got to the press.”He stares at the newspaper that has triggered him that morning with the title:-BILLIONAIRE CEO BACK IN TOWN -A MANIPULATOR OR SCAVENGER?He forcefully squeezes the p
Mistaken For Someone Else
Taking a calming breath, Andrew tries to figure out everything that was happening, but at that moment, it still seems all confusing to him.He stares blankly at the man of which he has no memories of, yet fragments of forgotten moments flicker to life with every passing second. And then, he sinks back into the chair. If there is one thing that he is now sure of, it's the fact that these people have got the wrong person. But then… who could this person be? He knows without fact that he is definitely going to get his revenge after all this is over, but at the moment, he is not in control of the situation, and silence at that moment most definitely was golden, judging by everything that was happening. And when he finally speaks, his voice is subtle, too subtle and calm like a silenced wind. “I didn't do anything, Yes, I must have crossed paths while I was in the military, but I can't remember details about it cause… Cause I most definitely would.” He hadn’t raised his voice at all, b
