CHAPTER ELEVEN - SHE IS A WITCH.
The air shifted as Aralynn began falling, she should have hit the rocks and died.Instead, the wind softened as light wrapped around her body like unseen arms, slowing her descent until the ground met her gently. The glow thickened, pulsing slowly before sinking into her skin. She lay alive, breathing but unconscious. Aralynn was the only thing on Kael's lips and mind as the wind carried him down faster than gravity should allow. When his boots hit the ground, his gaze went straight to her. But there at the cliff bottom lay her, untouched by blood or bruises and engulfed in a glowing ethereal light. Kael approached her slowly. The air and light around her hummed. His eyes narrowed as he crouched beside her. "This isn't mine,” he muttered faintly. He had torn through magic before, burned spell lines and crushed covens. This power didn’t resist him. It rejected him, throwing him off his feet. “Magic,” he spat, standing up. But this wasn't just any magic. His hands hovered
CHAPTER TWELVE - AWAKENING HER
Aralynn woke with a start, the remnants of a dream still clinging to her like ash. She was inside her father's house lying in her room, a comfort zone she missed terribly.Delilah’s voice, soft and trembling echoed in her mind.“You must awaken him.”“Or destroy him.”She shivered. The words weren’t hers, yet they pressed on her chest like weight. And then she sensed someone else lurking around her. Before she could think, a voice cut through the tension.“You’re awake.” Aralynn turned. There was her mother Delilah, resting on the door, her eyes piercing through her.“Mother, what happened?” Aralynn swallowed. “That doesn't matter dear.”*You have awakened, no one can look down on you anymore.” Delilah assured, approaching her.“Awakened?” “How, mother?” Aralynn demanded.“You felt it too, didn't you?”“You have immeasurable power now, baby.” Delilah cooed.Aralynn clenched her fists, her pulse racing. “Is that why you are back, because you want my power?” Araluny snapped.“No,
CHAPTER THIRTEEN - THE OFFER
Aralynn’s scream tore through the forest, loud and echoing. Magic tore through her veins like wildfire, ripping out of her chest, her spine arching as the ground beneath her cracked. The moss shriveled into ash. The air screamed back at her, thick and distorted, as if the world itself was choking. “Kael!” she cried, clutching at her chest. Light bled from her palms, raw and violent power that pulsed and exploded outward. Kael was already on his feet, grabbing her wrists. “Aralynn!” His voice cut through the chaos. The moment he touched her, the magic fought him. It slammed into his chest like a living thing, throwing him off his feet. Kael growled low, teeth bared as amber light flared in his eyes. “Stop fighting it.” “I’m not!” she sobbed. Aralynn gasped as the power surged again, her knees buckling. “Kael, what is happening?” Kael rose slowly, reaching to her again. “You are awakening.” “Awakening?” Her eyes snapped to his. “Make it stop.” Kael hesitated, the magic
CHAPTER FOURTEEN - A DIVINE FORGED BLADE
The air shimmered as Nicklaus stepped closer, his presence pressing against Aralynn’s skin like invisible chains. “I thought you wanted them both,” he mocked. Aralynn’s fingers curled tighter around the hem of her dress. “Are you going to offer me my freedom,” she breathed. “Or not.” Nicklaus' chin lifted, he stretched his hands towards her and a blade appeared on his palm. It was beautiful in a cruel way, dark metal veined with silver light, humming faintly, as though alive. Power crawled along its edge, cold and suffocating. “You hesitate,” he observed softly. Aralynn stared at the short curved blade quietly. “What is that?” she demanded. “Your freedom,” he simply replied. Aralynn lifted her gaze towards him, eyebrows raised. Nicklaus smiled. “This will sever him from what he is. Strip the god from the flesh.” “It won't kill him,” she said, voice rigid. “He will sleep.” Nicklaus's gaze sharpened. “Powerless.” “And then?” she asked. “You will be free,” Nick
CHAPTER FIFTEEN – THE ONE HELL HAS BEEN WAITING FOR.
Kael’s sprint tore through the clearing, every step shattering the earth beneath him. His chest heaved, eyes wild, senses ablaze.“Aralynn!” he yelled, voice cracking. The world went silent as he skidded to her.Her body lay limp on the ground, eyes closed, lips pale.Blood painted the damp earth.“No…” His hand shook as he reached for her, fingers trembling. His hands froze on hers as the chill of death pressed back.Fear mixed with rage flashed in his eyes, then fire followed roaring behind his eyes.He rose slowly, shadows crawling up around him, twisting into tendrils that lashed at the sky.The ground cracked, trees splintered and thunder split the air.“W-what… what is happening?” Varrick asked, eyes wide.“Die!” he bellowed, shadows exploding outward like black suns. His scream cut through the forest, a sound that made birds drop from the sky, lifeless.Chains of darkness wrapped around every living creature in the clearing lifting them into the air.“That’s impossible,” Elija
CHAPTER SIXTEEN – EVERYTHING HAS A COST
The forest was silent, heavy with the scent of burnt earth and iron.Kael knelt in the center of the clearing, shadows crawling along the ground, flickering like living embers. Aralynn lay beside him, her chest rising and falling in slow, shallow breaths. Her hair fanned out like dark silk, her lips pale and her hands curled in delicate fists.Kael’s fingers traced the air above her, feeling the pulse of life returning, his void-black eyes reflecting the remnants of destruction around them.“Sleep,” he murmured, voice hoarse. “You need rest.”Slowly, he closed his eyes, his hands rising as shadows surged upward, forming jagged walls of black that spiraled toward the sky..Trees trembled, birds fell dead mid-flight, and the soil itself cracked beneath his influence. Each shadow escaping through him left him staggering, pain seared through his chest, lightning stabbing along his spine, his vision blurringThe barrier pulsed, a living thing shaped by his will but every pulse demanded
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN - KAEL, WHAT ARE YOU?
Aralynn woke to silence that pressed against her ears until her chest tightened. Even her breathing sounded too loud, like it didn’t belong. Her lashes fluttered slowly.Darkness stretched above her, watching. She sucked in a sharp breath and sat up too fast.Pain flickered behind her eyes. Her hand flew to her chest instinctively, fingers digging into warm skin. There was no wound nor blood, still her heart thundered like it had been running.“Easy.” a familiar voice stopped her.Her head snapped to the side and there sat Kael, right beside her.One knee drawn up, forearm resting on it, fingers loose. Shadows clung to him like they didn’t know where else to go.For a heartbeat, relief flooded her.“Kael,” she breathed, the name slipping out the way it always had soft, unguarded. But when she glanced at him again, her breath stuttered. His face was the same. The sharp lines, the dark lashes and the mouth that used to hesitate before smiling like he wasn’t sure he deserved it.Bu
Chapter Eighteen - Finding her pack
The forest thinned, branches bending forward with the soft wind.Aralynn's footsteps faltered, her chest tightening before she even saw it.“There,” she whispered.Ahead of them was meant to be the clearing they stood to make their vows. But there lay a half burnt throne room. Her knees went weak.“This was…this was where…”“I know,” Kael said, his voice barely heard. She walked forward like a ghost, fingers brushing a broken pillar.“I stood here,” she murmured. “on white. My people, my pack was so happy to have us lead them.”Kael's jaw tightened.“This is where you said you would never leave me,” she whispered. From the shadows near the blackened throne, footsteps approached.Aralynn spun. Two figures stepped out.Her breath caught. “Darian,”Korrah tilted his head. “Who sent you?”“You don't remember me?” she asked. “I'm your older sister, Darian. She pointed at Korrah. “You called me Luna and bowed whenever I passed.”They stared, perplexed.Darian shifted uneasily. “I have never
Chapter Nineteen - Follow me to hell
The fire still burned on Aralynn’s skin.It crawled over her palms where she had touched the glowing runes, biting through flesh and bone like it knew her name. She jerked back with a cry, clutching her hand to her chest.“Why?” she sobbed. “They’re my people!”“The boundary rejects hell,” he said. “And you carry my blood.”Her knees hit the ground.“Hell? Your blood?” she gasped, mind spinning.Kael said nothing.“They’re right there,” she cried.Liora pressed her hand to the barrier from the other side. “We can’t reach you.”Aralynn stretched her hand again towards the barrier.Don’t,” Kael said, stepping in front of her. “You’ll burn yourself hollowHer breath came sharp. “I came back for them. Why should I stop when they are right there?”Beyond the runes, wolves stood in a tight circle, thin and still. There eyes followed her, wide and afraid. She stepped forward again, the light flared.Kael grabbed her wrist, the glow snapped back instantly like it had a teeth. You feel that?”
Chapter Twenty - Betrayals
The air shifted as the weight of Zavien’s words hit Kael. But instead of fear filling his eyes, they were filled with something darker.“I won't repeat myself.” Kael scoffed. “Let her go.”Zavien snickered. “Me neither.”Zavien's figures curled slowly before Kael could respond, as if he were pulling invisible threads. The air around Aralynn folded inward, darkening and thickening.“Aralynn!” Kael called, panic rising in his tone.“You can't reach her anymore,” Zavien said softly. “Not until I allow it.”Kael lunged, shadows ripping from his spine like wings, slashing at the space where she hung. They hit nothing. His claws tore through empty air.“Where is she?” he roared.Zavien smiled. “Inside me.”Kael froze.“What?”“I wove her into my blood,” Zavien said, tapping his chest. “She breathes when I breathe. Bleeds when I bleed. Kill me and you kill her.Kael’s hands trembled. “You’re lying.”Zavien leaned close, voice low and sweet. “Then try to kill me and see what happens to her.”
