Kael stood in the center of a massive room which has a high ceilings streamed with crimson light that filtered through the cracks in the stone walls. Once, this had been a clearing, a place where he had exchanged vows with his lover.“Do you take him as your mate and the Alpha of this pack?” her father had repeated countlessly as if telling her to reject him, a wolfless boy without a pack.“I do till death do us apart.” she kept saying, staring at him with a warm smile ignoring the murmurs of the pack.Their vows weren't properly exchanged before they were massacred. Her crime was loving a wolfless man while his, was being a wolfless man and dreaming of being her mate and Alpha of her pack. But now, he wasn't a wolfless boy anymore but the last existing god on earth, the god of ruins. The smell of smoke, wax and old blood lingered in the air.His gaze traced the room that held their vows and blood silently, noting every detail as his chest tightened. But then, a voice cut through the
CHAPTER TWO - AN UNPAID DEBT
The next morning, Alpha Darian approached the dungeon with the elders. But when the dungeon door was opened, the cage that was meant to hold the trespasser was open and empty with a mark, the swirling symbol of ash and crimson engraved on it.“What is this supposed to mean?” Darian thundered.“This is no ordinary mark, this is….” An elder had begun when, “My lord, the throne room is on fire.” A guard rushed in,. panting.Everyone's eyes widened as they rushed back to the throne room but it was too late, it was already ashes. And on the ashes were the same mark left on the cage.“Who is responsible for this?!” Darian yelled.“Alpha, am afraid.”“But the mark from the dungeon is the same with this.” An elder pointed out.Darian snapped his head towards him, his eyes shooting daggers.“If my guess is correct,” “This mark only belongs to a god.” The oldest elder stated.“A god?”“God doesn't exist anymore, they were destroyed and exiled centuries ago.” Another elder reprimanded him.“Th
CHAPTER THREE - HUNTING HER.
Darian's muffled screams echoed through the chambers but his struggle against the iron hold of Kael was useless because he couldn't move his body.“No one can save you,”“Not when I am involved.” Kael whispered. But then, the approaching footsteps of people were heard and seconds later, the chamber's door burst open.“My lord,” Korrah called.Kael's face darkened and with a flick of his hand, he banged the shower door locked, the noise attracting Korrah and the guards.“Wait, here he is in the shower.” Korrah ordered the guards. But when he couldn't open the door after many attempts,“Break the door,”“Alpha is in danger.” Korrah yelled. The guards rushed over, pulling, pushing and hitting the door but all their attempts were futile. But the noise distracted Kael from the fun he was having,“Have it your way,”“But I never leave without collecting my debt.” Kael said as he opened the door. The doors behind it fell forcefully when the door opened without warning, some becoming lifeless
CHAPTER FOUR - HIS STOLEN MATE
The forest was quiet in the way only grief could make it.Aralynn stood at the edge of the boundary stones, her fingers digging into the rough bark of the nearest tree as if it might anchor her in place. The wind tugged at her hair.carrying the scent of pine, ash and farewell.“Father, I don't want to go.” she whispered, in tears.“You have to go to your mother for now.” Zephyr, her father said softly.“No, mother doesn't want or love me.” Aralynn cried.“Don't say that about your mother.” Zephyr cautioned her.“Did I lie?”“She left us because I was born a human and bore a curse as mark.” She spat, angered.Silence stretched between them, heavy and cruel. Her father reached into his coat and then stepped closer before her pressing something into her palm, a small carved pendant worn smooth with age.“I will always be with you as long as you have this pendant.” Zephyr promised.“Father, I want to be with you not with a pendant.” Aralynn whined tossing the pendant away.“Aralynn, you
CHAPTER FIVE - THE BLOOD MOON
The forest was dead silent as Kael moved deeper into it, darkness descending over it.Shadows twisted unnaturally around him like flies. The stench of black incense, blood and power corrupted by greed hung in the air as he approached a territory. The Darkhorn’s territory.A pack known for their mastery and practice of forbidden dark magics and now they have his mate.“A god never rejects an invitation but doesn't accept an apology.” Kael growled, lowly.Branches snapped beneath his boots as he moved with precise predation, every step silent and every breath controlled.Ahead, flickers of torchlight marked the edge of a clearing. Kael slowed, his senses sharpening. As he had expected, they had set a trap and were waiting for him. He took a step forward stepping into the light,Within seconds, Darkhorn guards leapt from the shadows, encircling and bounding him with chains etched in glowing runes.Kael's eyes flickered darkly but he snapped it shut, controlling his anger. The chains st

She stood up immediately, bolting into the forest.“He is a monster!”“A murderer!” she kept screaming in her mind refusing to stay with him.Minutes passed into hours and slowly darkness was creeping in, Aralynn barely able to move her legs collapsed by a riverbank, the same one but she was too exhausted to no
