Chapter 1
"What the hell is going on here?"Upon seeing what was in front of him Damian's voice cut through the silenceFive years ago, before he left, this place was clean, the kind that made anyone hold their breath when they passed by. The grave stood clean and proud, not a single blade of grass dared grow where it shouldn't, and fresh flowers bloomed so bright they pulled bees from miles away. But what his eyes fell on now made his blood turn cold. The place looked abandoned, forgotten like yesterday's trash. Worse than that, it had become a dumping ground where people threw their rubbish without a second thought. Mountains of dirt and garbage buried almost everything, and if Damian didn't know the exact spot where they laid his mother to rest, he would have walked right past it without knowing she was even there. At that moment his hands balled into fists so tight his knuckles turned white. His jaw trembled, not from weakness but from the kind of rage that made grown men take three steps b
Chapter 2
The moment those words left the man's mouth, Damian's jaw locked so tight it looked like it might shatter his teeth. The veins in his forehead bulged out like twisted ropes ready to snap. "What did you just say?" Damian's voice came out low and deadly, the kind of quiet that made smart people run for cover.Immediately the seven men glanced at each other, noticing the shift in Damian's entire being, but they didn't seem to care much. Whether this stranger standing before them was angry or not made no difference to them, they had a job to do and that was all that mattered. The same stocky man who spoke first stepped forward and repeated himself, this time with even more arrogance dripping from his words."Are you deaf? Didn't you hear what I just said? This land has been put up for sale. We've been instructed by Madam Nathaniel Penelope herself to trash this good-for-nothing grave. We're here to clear all this rubbish, exhume the body and go dump it somewhere else, throw it away like
Chapter 3
The excavator shook so violently it looked like it might flip over completely. The operator's eyes went wide with terror and he threw open the door, jumping out of the machine like his seat had caught fire. His boots hit the ground hard just as the entire upper arm of the excavator, the bucket, the hydraulic neck, everything above the base, just snapped clean off.It didn't bend slowly or crack with warning. It shattered into two pieces, maybe even three, like someone had taken a hammer to glass. Metal that should have taken industrial tools and hours of work to cut through broke apart like dry bread in Damian's grip. The pieces crashed to the ground with deafening bangs that echoed across the wasteland, the bucket landing twisted and crushed like someone had wadded up a piece of paper and tossed it aside.Damian let the mangled metal drop from his hand without even looking at it.All seven men collapsed where they stood, their legs giving out beneath them as their buttocks hit the di
Chapter 4
The moment Penelope's words about his sister left her mouth, something inside Damian snapped. All the control he'd been holding onto, all the calm he'd forced into his voice, everything just shattered like broken glass. His expression went from cold anger to something far more dangerous, something that made the air around him feel heavy and suffocating."What about my sister? Where the hell is she?"Penelope folded her arms across her chest, a smug smile playing at the corners of her lips like she was enjoying every second of this."Well, I'm not supposed to be exchanging words with you because you are below me. You're not even qualified to be my maid. But I'm going to bring you back to reality, the reality where you think you can just show up here after five years, after everyone believed you were dead, and start demanding answers, start asking questions like you have any right to. You are nobody now. You are trash. A good-for-nothing fool. A pig."She paused, letting those insults h
Chapter 5
The threat hung in the air between them, heavy and suffocating, more promise than warning.Penelope stood there trying to catch her breath, one hand still pressed against her throat where Damian's fingers had been wrapped around it just moments ago. She could feel her pulse hammering beneath her skin, could taste the fear that had flooded her mouth when she thought he might actually crush her windpipe right there on her own doorstep. Her chest heaved as she gulped down air, each breath burning as it traveled down her abused throat. But even through her discomfort, even through the lingering terror that made her hands shake, something else began to surface. Pride. Arrogance. The absolute certainty that came from belonging to a family that had grown so powerful over the past five years that they believed themselves untouchable. She straightened herself as much as she could manage, trying to reclaim some of the dignity that Damian had stripped away when he'd lifted her off her feet like
Chapter 6
Damian stood over Penelope, who had collapsed back onto the floor during her rant, his shadow falling across her like a dark omen. His voice came out flat, emotionless, which somehow made it even more terrifying than if he'd been shouting."If you have a death wish, just let me see you in front of that land again. Just show your face there one more time, and you are going to die. I'm not making a threat. I'm making a promise."He crouched down slightly, bringing his face closer to hers so she could see the absolute certainty in his eyes, the complete lack of hesitation or doubt."But like I said before, this is just the beginning of what I'm going to do to you and the entire Nathaniel family. This is nothing compared to what's coming. So pass my message to them. Tell them that I'm back. Tell them that I'm coming for every single one of them. Tell them to prepare themselves, because the storm that's about to hit them won't leave anything standing."He straightened up and turned to leav
Chapter 7
Meanwhile, the taxi carrying Damian wove through traffic, the driver sensing his passenger's urgency and taking shortcuts wherever possible. Damian sat in the back seat, his hands clenched into fists on his thighs, his jaw locked so tight it ached. Every second felt like an eternity. Every red light felt like a personal insult from the universe. His mind kept circling back to Penelope's words, the casual cruelty in her voice when she'd talked about breaking Rebecca, about crushing her down until she became a shadow of herself. What did that mean? What had they done to his little sister while he was gone?Rebecca had only been twenty years old when he left for the war. She'd been bright, full of life, with dreams of becoming a teacher. She loved books and children, spent her free time volunteering at the local school even though they barely had enough money to feed themselves. She'd been so excited when Damian married into the Nathaniel family, believing it meant a better life for both
Chapter 8
At that moment, upon hearing the words that had just left the lady's mouth, Damian was taken aback, his entire body going rigid as if someone had just slapped him across the face."The little witch?" he repeated slowly, the words tasting foul on his tongue. His brow furrowed in confusion and growing dread. "What are you talking about? The little witch?"He shook his head, trying to push past the anger and fear clouding his thoughts."I don't actually know anyone by that name. Her name is Rebecca. Rebecca Cross. That's who I'm looking for."Immediately the young woman let out a short, bitter laugh that held no humor whatsoever, just the weary cynicism of someone who'd seen too much ugliness in her short life."Yes, I know you don't know her as the little witch. Nobody comes in here asking for the little witch by that name." She shifted the tray of glasses to her other hip, her expression a mixture of pity and something darker. "We call her that just because of the way she behaves. Yeah
Chapter 9
His expression hardened into something that made the young woman take an involuntary step backward."You need to start leaving now," Damian said quietly, his voice carrying a weight that made it sound less like a suggestion and more like a prophecy. "Get out of this area. Go to the back, go outside, go anywhere that's not here. Because all hell is going to break loose very soon, and I don't want you caught in the middle of it."Without waiting for her response, without giving her a chance to argue or plead with him further, Damian turned and walked with deliberate purpose toward the VIP section. The hallway leading to the private rooms was dimmer than the main bar area, lit only by small wall sconces that cast long shadows across the worn carpet. The walls were painted a deep red that looked almost black in the low light, and the doors lining either side were heavy wood with brass numbers bolted to them.VIP Room 1. VIP Room 3. VIP Room 5.Damian's eyes scanned each number as he passe
Chapter 10
At that moment in time, upon hearing the three words that had just left Damian's mouth, delivered in that low, deadly whisper that promised violence beyond imagination, the atmosphere in the room shifted completely. The two men with whips finally turned around to see who had dared to interrupt their entertainment. But as their eyes adjusted to the figure standing in the doorway, they realized they weren't alone in the VIP room. This wasn't just some private party between two sadistic bastards and their victim. There were six men total in that space, Damian now realized as his eyes swept across the scene with cold calculation. Six of them. The two with whips, and four others seated on the plush leather couches that lined the walls, drinks in their hands, watching the torture like it was a theater performance put on for their amusement. Some had loosened their ties and shed their suit jackets. Others still looked pristine, as if they'd just come from a business meeting and decided to st
