Chase couldn't help but feel dejected as he trudged back to his house. He didn't even have transport money for a cab.Because of the fiasco at the restaurant, he had been ordered to pay for the "damages" on the spot. He emptied everything in his pockets, gave up his free meal, and even lost the salary that was due at the end of the month. All of it, just because of what Rachel did. There was definitely nothing in that water. She had purposely decided to frame him.Chase clenched his fists tightly. He had never done all this for himself. He had only been trying to make sure his sister, Lily, was well and okay. She was lying in the hospital, battling stage 4 leukemia, and the doctors would not begin treatment until the full payment was completed. He rubbed his head in annoyance, his hair a mess, and held back the pain gathering in his eyes.I have to find another job, he thought. I still have to complete the money before the end of the month. That was only two days away. On that day, th

Chase didn't waste any time flagging down a cab. Within twenty minutes, he was in front of the hospital. He rushed into the building. Everyone turned to look at him in surprise, but he paid no attention to them. He stopped the first nurse he saw."I need to see the MD right now!""R-right this way, sir," the nurse said, and Chase followed her to the office.Inside, Dr. Evans, the hospital's MD, had a visible worry on his face. It only made Chase's heart sink."How is my sister?" Chase asked. "What is her condition?""We increased the dosage of her regular medication, but it doesn't seem to be working," Dr. Evans said. "We also don't have enough personnel to handle her seizures and continuous monitoring. So we need you to add an additional amount, so that we can afford the specialists and equipment she needs."His assistant nurse, who was already in the room, strolled over and handed Chase the bill.Chase looked at it and was surprised by how much the price had shot up. Six hundred and

Chase didn't answer the call the previous night. Instead, he went back to his apartment to rest. The apartment had been put back in order. The floorboard was fixed, the broken furniture was replaced, and a note lay on the table with a receipt showing that his rent arrears had been cleared, down to the last penny. There wasn't a single speck of dust. The next morning came quickly, and Chase was thinking about going to see Lily when the roar of an engine outside pulled him to the window.A Rolls-Royce had stopped in front of his building.Chase was surprised. His neighborhood was run-down, not a place where anyone with money ever came. The sleek black car looked completely out of place, and it immediately sparked the curiosity of the neighbors. The driver hurried around and opened the back door. The woman who stepped out was extremely beautiful. Her hair was combed to the side and held in place with a headband. Her eyes were big and blue, her nose was pointed, and her lips were full. S

Chase hailed a cab, and soon he arrived at Crown Ledger Bank.True to its name, the bank was a titan of a structure, with tall marble pillars and golden letters above the entrance. It was clear that the city's elite came here to deposit and do all sorts of transactions. Chase walked inside and was immediately met with a sight."Please! My business just needs one more month, and it will start producing fruits! You see, I promise you!"A man was on his knees, begging with his whole heart.Chase looked the man up and down. He was wearing nothing but a white shirt and boxers. His phone, his remaining suit, and his wallet lay on a desk nearby as if they were being processed."No. An extension cannot be granted," a ruthless man in a grey suit said, his arms crossed adamantly. "You have already exceeded your deadline more than three times. We don't grant more extensions. Now the full hammer of judgment will come upon you.""No, please! I will produce results!""Security!" the man called, and
