Chase took a cab from the hospital back to the restaurant that night.
He hadn't thought much of Jerry's message, but he already knew what was waiting for him.
The moment he stepped through the front door, he saw it. The restaurant had been arranged like a courtroom. Every table was full, the waiters stood in a line along the wall, and two security men stood at the door, blocking the exit behind him. Jerry had gathered everyone to witness the spectacle. Chase also noticed that the dining guests were going to be part of it.
"You!" Jerry said, still steaming. "You think you can walk out on me?"
"Are you always red like a tomato?" Chase asked nonchalantly.
"You can keep joking if you like, but everyone here is waiting to hear your punishment!" Jerry snapped his fingers, and a waiter held up a long sheet of paper. "Damages to Mr. Silverberg's reputation, lost customers, compensation for the incident, and the restaurant's image. Eighty-five thousand dollars!"
He threw the bill onto the floor at Chase's feet.
"Wow, that is a lot of money!" someone whispered.
"Do you think a wretch like him can pay it? He can't even afford to change his clothes!"
"Yes, look! It's the same clothes he wore this morning!"
"Well, that's his luck. He's the one who acted rashly!"
"If he begs on his knees now, maybe he'll get a discount!"
Chase heard all the rumors on his left and right. But when he saw the bill on the ground, he didn't bother picking it up. Instead, he dipped his hand into his pocket and walked to an empty seat in the middle of the restaurant, sitting down as if he owned the place.
He waved a waiter over.
"Bring me the truffle-crusted wagyu steak, the lobster thermidor, a plate of your best mozzarella and cheese platter, and a bottle of your most expensive wine," Chase said calmly.
Everyone's jaws dropped.
Was this not the same man who had just been handed a bill of eighty-five thousand dollars?
"Are you mad?" Jerry raged. "How can you order food when you haven't paid off your debt? Who do you think you are?"
"I'm not mad," Chase said with a smile. "You are."
Jerry was about to explode, but Chase raised a hand, shushing him.
"I never said I wasn't going to pay my debt. After all, I'm here, and I'm not running." He looked at the two security men blocking the door and smiled.
Ding!
[New Mission: Invite everyone in this restaurant to enjoy the most luxurious meals on the menu. Let the one who framed you take the bill.]
Chase almost laughed. The system was really testing him.
"Ladies and gentlemen!" Chase stood up and raised his voice, and every head turned to him. "Since you've all come to watch, why don't you enjoy the night as well? Order whatever you like, the most expensive food, the best wine. Tonight, let's all eat!"
There was silence for one second. Then the restaurant exploded in laughter.
"Ha! Is he serious?"
"Look at him, smiling like a fool! Of course he is, but he doesn't know what he's about to do to himself!"
"How is that our business? Let us eat!"
Jerry burst out laughing, wiping his eyes. He thought he had finally caught Chase in his own trap. "You want to treat everyone? Fine! Fine! Then hear me, all of you! As the manager of this restaurant, I personally authorize every order tonight, to be charged to this man! Waiters, serve everything they ask for, and stamp every ticket with my approval!"
"Yes, sir!"
Immediately, everyone in the restaurant began ordering the highest-priced food, the best wines, and the rarest dishes. Champagne bottles were popped, caviar plates were passed around, and the kitchen ran at full speed.
Chase watched calmly, then ate his own meal until he was satisfied.
The whole crowd was clapping.
"Cheers to your stupidity, boy!"
"At least I had a very good meal!"
"Now it's time for the drama!"
Comments flew around the room, and it only amused Chase. He set his glass down, wiped his mouth, and stood up.
He took a thick envelope from his pocket and placed it on the table in front of Jerry. "Eighty-five thousand dollars. That is exactly my debt. Count it."
Jerry's mouth fell open. He counted quickly, and his face turned pale. Every single dollar was there.
Ding!

"I don’t believe it," Jerry stammered. Then the head cashier hurried over with a long receipt in his hands. "Sir, tonight's bill for the whole restaurant is one hundred and eighty thousand dollars. Who should we send it to?"
"Send it to the person who authorized it," Chase said with a shrug. "I paid my debt. I never said I'd pay for anyone's dinner. I only said to enjoy. Everyone here heard the manager say he personally authorizes every order."
The head cashier turned to Jerry, who had gone stiff.
"Jerry, sir, the tickets all carry your approval stamp."
"What?" Jerry shrieked. "But you invited everyone! You all heard him!"
"I did invite them," Chase said calmly. "And you were the one who paid for the invitation."
"Don't you know that if you don't pay, they will fire me?" Jerry cried in anguish. "The owner will make me cover the whole bill from my own pocket! I'll lose my job and everything I own!"
"I don't see how that's my problem," Chase said with a shrug. "Thanks for the food. Now I'll be on my way."
He turned towards the door.
Jerry stared, wounded deeply, and couldn't help but feel pain in his chest.
"Stop him!" he screamed. "Don't let him go! I must get to the bottom of this!"
The two security men stepped in front of the door. Chase shot them a cold stare that made even Jerry shut up.
"If you don't want to wake up in the hospital tomorrow, I suggest you step out of my way with immediate effect," Chase said, unbothered.
The men were adamant. One of them reached for his collar.
Chase caught his hand before it could touch him and twisted it. CRACK! The man's wrist snapped.
"ARGH!"
The man went down, and Chase gave him a kick to the face that sent him sliding across the floor until he hit a pillar.
The crowd gasped, stunned.
The second man threw a punch, but Chase dodged it easily and returned the strike with an overhead kick that sent the man crashing to the ground.
Chase turned and gave his boss one more cold stare. Jerry collapsed onto the floor, sweating, and Chase walked out.
Outside the restaurant, the night air was cool. As he walked, Chase felt his phone buzz in his pocket.
An unknown number was calling.
He looked at the screen for a moment, then declined the call. He had already had enough drama for one day.
The phone buzzed again. This time, it was a message.
Mr. Chase Locke, please pick up. It is about the hospital.
Chase frowned.
"Who is this?"

"You have already exceeded your deadline more than three times. We don't grant more extensions. Now the full hammer of judgment will come upon you.""No, please! "We also don't have enough personnel to handle her seizures and continuous monitoring.
