Chase didn't waste any time flagging down a cab. Within twenty minutes, he was in front of the hospital.

He rushed into the building. Everyone turned to look at him in surprise, but he paid no attention to them. He stopped the first nurse he saw.

"I need to see the MD right now!"

"R-right this way, sir," the nurse said, and Chase followed her to the office.

Inside, Dr. Evans, the hospital's MD, had a visible worry on his face. It only made Chase's heart sink.

"How is my sister?" Chase asked. "What is her condition?"

"We increased the dosage of her regular medication, but it doesn't seem to be working," Dr. Evans said. "We also don't have enough personnel to handle her seizures and continuous monitoring. So we need you to add an additional amount, so that we can afford the specialists and equipment she needs."

His assistant nurse, who was already in the room, strolled over and handed Chase the bill.

Chase looked at it and was surprised by how much the price had shot up. Six hundred and fifty thousand dollars. It was almost suspicious. But he had a million dollars in his account now, so he didn't think twice about it.

"That is fine. I will make the transfer right now," Chase assured him.

"Excellent, sir. The payment desk is on the ground floor," Dr. Evans said, and the nurse handed him a slip with an account number on it.

Chase went down to the ground floor, where a sign hung above the counter: Deposits and Transfers.

"I want to pay for the treatment of Lily Locke," he told the woman behind the counter.

She typed into her computer, then raised an eyebrow. "Patient 277? Oh, the one at the very back of the queue. It seems no deposit was ever made, sir."

"That is why I'm here," Chase said.

"Of course. Please transfer the full amount to this account." She turned the screen towards him.

Just as Chase was about to choose a means of payment, the system rang in his head.

Ding!

[New Mission: Transfer the full amount to this account to pay for the medical care of Patient 002.]

"What?" Chase said, surprised.

After the first two missions, he hadn't expected one like this. Patient 002? He looked at the account on the screen again. It was the priority ledger for someone he didn't even know.

"Sir, is anything wrong?" the woman asked.

Chase didn't respond. He was still shocked that this was his sudden mission.

[Accept? Yes or No?]

"I'm thinking," Chase told the woman, turning away before she thought he was going mad on the spot.

He didn't want to overthink it. After all, the system had given him rewards for the first two missions, even if they had seemed absurd at the start. But he couldn't help wondering how it was going to compensate him for this one, when his own sister was lying in a hospital bed.

"Fine," Chase said, exhaling. He moved back to the counter and finished the transfer.

Ding!

[Transfer successful.]

[Mission Three completed.]

[Sacrifice detected: Host paid $650,000 for a stranger while his own sister lies in critical condition.]

[Reward: Meridian Elite Medical Unit has been deployed to the host's designated patient, with immediate effect.]

"Elite Medical Unit?" Chase asked.

Before he had the time to reason about it, the hospital doors burst open, and a team of doctors in white coats and black uniforms marched inside, carrying equipment cases and a stretcher.

The entire hospital fell into an uproar.

"Are those the doctors from the Meridian Royal Hospital?"

"They are the most elite in the city! What are they doing here?"

"And there are so many of them! It seems a very important patient is here!"

"Those people are very expensive and very rare!" another said in awe.

The head of the squad stepped forward. "We are here on a special request. We need to know where Patient 277 is."

Chase's heart skipped a beat. That was Lily's number.

Just then, Dr. Evans came rushing out of the elevator, sweating and out of breath, bowing all the way. "Welcome, welcome, gentlemen! I am the MD here, I can take you to the—"

The head of the squad didn't even look at him. "Patient 277. Where?"

"I... I will have to check..." Dr. Evans stammered, and the nurses looked at each other, terrified.

"I know where she is," Chase said, stepping forward. "She is my sister."

The head of the squad turned to him. "Sir, you are a relative of the patient?"

"Yes," Chase answered.

"Please come with us, sir!" the head said, and all the doctors bowed slightly. "You are our top priority!"

Chase led them to the ward. In less than five minutes, the elite team had moved Lily out of the room on a stretcher, hooked up to a portable monitor, and was rolling her towards the outside of the hospital.

Chase was surprised to see a helicopter descending onto the hospital grounds, the wind blowing dust and leaves in all directions. Everyone outside the hospital gathered around to watch.

The doctors lifted Lily onboard, and Chase climbed in after them. As the helicopter rose into the sky, he held his sister's hand tightly in his, and he whispered.

"It's okay now, Lily. You're going to be fine. And I promise no one will ever make us suffer again."

Below them, the hospital shrank until Dr. Evans looked like a tiny speck, still bowing.

They landed at the Meridian Royal Hospital. Chase was led into a luxury deluxe room, and as he passed through the corridor, he saw a long line of people waiting who seemed to have all the time in the world. Once they saw him cut the line, he couldn't help but notice their frowns. He didn't care much.

The door opened, and the room was filled with cool air-conditioning. Chase sat on the sofa and couldn't help but feel the bruising comfort of it. In fact, this chair was three times more comfortable than his bed, and he had never enjoyed air-conditioning like this before.

"Here you go, sir." A nurse in an executive-level uniform walked in and handed him a drink, along with a tray of small chops. Chase raised an eyebrow.

"I don't have any money to pay for this," Chase clarified.

She smiled at him. "No, sir. You are not paying for anything. It is free. If there is anything else you want, just say it and it will be yours." She walked out.

Chase filled his stomach with the meal and remained calm, waiting for news about his sister.

It hadn't even been an hour before the doctor came in.

"Mr. Chase, it is so good to see you!" he said, smiling.

"How is my sister? Is her condition good now?" Chase asked.

"That is why I'm here." The doctor was a proud man, and he announced it with pride. "Her condition is stable, and the treatment was successful. It only gets better from here, I assure you."

Chase couldn't help but smile. He almost hugged the man, but he managed to keep his composure at the last minute.

"For now, she is sleeping. Because of the immediate surgery, I would advise that you come and see her tomorrow," the doctor said.

"That is fine," Chase said.

Just then, his phone buzzed in his pocket. It was a text from Jerry.

"Tomorrow works very well for me. I have somewhere to be," Chase said.

"Alright, sir. This is my card, in case you want to contact me earlier. With this VIP card, you will not be stopped anywhere in this hospital."

"Thank you," Chase said.

He left the room and read the message.

You think you can run? Trent’s family are demanding compensation for the mess you made, and I'm the one taking the blame! Come to the restaurant tonight and settle it in person, or your locker, your last paycheck and everything else will be taken from you!

Chase smiled.

"They want me back, huh?" he said, shaking his head from left to right. "Then they have me."

"You think you can walk out on me?""Are you always red like a tomato?" Chase asked nonchalantly."You can keep joking if you like, but everyone here is waiting to hear your punishment!"
