Chapter One

“Hey garbage man, make sure you wash and iron all our sports uniforms neatly till they sparkle and smell nothing like you before the end of the day” said one of the university students while throwing his dirty sweaty sports uniform to Xander and the other students joined in ,they keep throwing their uniform on the floor instead of handing it over to him with their hands or taking it to the laundry room which the university provided.

Xander had to bend down on his knees to pick them up himself and they kept stepping on his foot and hands with their expensive designer shoes when he bent down to pick up the huge pile of uniform that they gathered on the floor but he kept quiet and didn’t say a word to any of them even though their actions was painful and hurts his ego, he is already used to this type of maltreatment from his fellow classmates. That’s the prize he has to pay for being the most poor student in the entire university and it is no secret, he is not from a wealthy background ,Xander is only a common scholarship student besides his tattered faded only uniform and torn old shoes which he used for 4 years says it all.

“And clean the trash off the campus and make sure it’s sparkling clean and not as dirty as you are or we will make them more dirty and make you work double, ” said Bianca with a stupid grin ,she’s one of the popular mean girls on campus.

“Don’t forget to wash the toilets too , washing shit is the perfect job for poor people like you” said Suzy loudly which made everyone around start laughing and mocking Xander loudly while throwing dirty socks to his face with no remorse. Suzy, Bianca and Karen are cheerleaders captains of the sports team and because of that, they are the most popular, sassy and mean girls in the entire university .They love wearing makeup , high heels and the latest and trending designer clothes and bags to classes.

“And if you manage to have an extra time, come and lick off the dust from the four tires of my latest limited edition sports Ferrari with your tongue till it’s clean then I might consider paying you 1000 dollars ,an amount of money that you have never touch in your entire miserable life “ said Ashton with so much pride.

Ashton is the most popular boy in the university and he rides the most expensive cars which he keeps changing every week, a lot of students follow him around the university worshiping him like some god and he is right. Xander has never held or owned a thousand dollars in my entire life but he will never stoop that low for money, he still has self esteem.

Xander kept quiet and didn’t reply or give Ashton an answer, he knows that replying to these rich people will only make them ridicule him the more and he is not in a mood for argument when he has so much work to do and there's barely enough time for him to study.

Xander Kings grew up in an orphanage and there was no information or records about his biological parents, his name and the ring on his finger are the only things that Xander has that could trace him back to his biological family or relatives but since no one came to look for him or adopt him and he has no idea how to start looking for them,he gave up on life and accepted his cruel fate as a poor orphan, a total nobody in the society.

Xander Kings is the tallest young man in his entire school , he is not only booksmart but he is very talented and skilled in several sports and athletic activities. Xander Kings became strong and good in sports because he was forced to do a lot of manual labour right from a young age in the orphanage.

Four years ago when Xander Kings was only 17 years old, a middle aged man with bald hair approached Xander with a university sports scholarship offer when he saw how Xander Kings single handedly made the public high school he attends win a basketball tournament.

The man introduced himself as Mr Anderson, the admissions officer of Princeton University and promised to offer Xander an 80% scholarship to study Economics and Business Administration in the best Ivy League university in the whole country which has only a 1% acceptance rate. Only the extremely gifted, wealthy business men’s kids, politician’s kids, A list celebrity’s children and members of the royal family dares attend that school so it came as a shock to Xander when he was offered the admission out of the blue.

He never believed that a nobody and a poor church rat like him could have the chance to see the buildings of Princeton University but he now has the chance to be a student and a future alumni which will look impressive on his resume when he goes to look for a job as a banker or a marketer when he finishes school he thought not knowing that life has a different turns of event set out for him.

“How much is the remaining tuition fee?”Xander asked Mr Anderson curiously

“The remaining 20% will be 500,000 thousand dollars for the four years you will be studying “ Said Mr Anderson casually as if half a million dollars is not a big deal but it shocked the hell out of Xander because the highest amount of money he has ever held with his bare hands is 400 dollars after working his butt for 2 months at a construction site.

“I appreciate the offer but I can’t accept it” said Xander politely rejecting the offer from Mr Anderson.

“Why? Millions of students are dying to attend his great university from all around the world. It will look good on your degree certificate and you will get to network and meet new friends. We don’t give scholarships to people anyhow and you’re lucky because I find your skills highly impressive and your height is also a good advantage, “ said Mr Anderson, trying to convince Xander to take the offer.

“I am an orphan and I can’t pay off the remaining tuition fee and it will be more embarrassing if I start school and get kicked out at the end, “ said Xander sincerely . Mr Anderson regarded Xander for a while before speaking again

“Fine, how about this. I will convince the board of directors to give you a 100% scholarship only if your promise to always come first in every sports activity which will bring more glory to the prestigious university, you will also help around in cleaning the school premises as a form of tuition settlement ,how about that ? I will give you some time to think about it , here is my card. Call me when you make a decision and remember this is a once in a lifetime achievement and opportunity “ said Mr Andreson sounding very serious

But Xander Kings was already bubbling with joy and excitement even though he managed to hide it well. He didn’t have to think before accepting this offer , his plan was to be a farmer or a cleaner in companies with his high school diploma certificate since he can’t not afford to attend college but the universe decided to smile at him for the first time and he immediately accepted the offer.

Princeton University is very big with luxurious and architectural structures, the parking lot is always filled with luxurious cars and almost every student had bodyguards or atleast a driver.

Xander thought he would easily make friends because of his talent but the reverse is the case, he was treated like an outcast by the wealthy, rude and pompous students because he is a poor orphan and doesn’t wear designer clothes or travel to different countries for shopping, clubbing or holidays and he never gets invited to any function outside school or party.

Xander Kings had no choice but to accept his fate as the school cleaner and laundry man while keeping his side of the bargain. He trained so hard to make sure that he always comes first in basketball, polo and tennis matches and his teammates never regard or appreciate his efforts just like today that he made the school win the country’s international tournament making Princeton university’s rank very high, they are now the top university in the world and unbeatable in both structures , brains ,having snubbing yet stinking rich kids and always coming first in every sports competition they attend.

Xander picked up the pile of dirty sports uniforms which filled his entire arms and walked towards the laundry section of the university building. Xander was humming a happy song on his way to the laundry room because he was in a good mood today because not only did he win the international championship , but he is also going to ask the girl of his dreams to be his girlfriend in front of the entire university and he hopes she will say yes to him.
