Chapter 20

The two of them finally made it out of the cave and into the daylight. They had to shield their eyes from the bright sun. The wizard looked around and realized that they were at the edge of a vast desert, stretching out for miles in every direction.

“This is the Great Desert,” the wizard said. “It is one of the most dangerous places in all the land. Many have tried to cross it and few have succeeded.”

The warrior nodded, steeling himself for what was to come. They began to trek across the vast expanse of sand, the sun beating down on them relentlessly. The heat was almost unbearable, and they were soon parched and thirsty.

As they walked, they saw strange creatures moving in the distance, their forms distorted by the heat waves. The warrior wondered what other dangers lay ahead.

After hours of walking, they finally reached an oasis, a small pool of water surrounded by palm trees. They drank their fill and rested for a while in the shade of the trees. As they were about to set out agai
