"Have you all taken what is needed?" I asked. My family and new acquaintances stood before me, luggage and survival kits in hand. They nodded.

'Alright, load up. I'm driving.' Jubi you will sit with me in front, the four ladies and John will occupy the backseat — Praise and Williams will both stay in the back where they will defend us from any demon attacks, with the weapons I stole earlier before arriving.

"Okay," they each responded, except John whose face was all red.

"Hold on! Why do I have to sit with the ladies?" John stepped in front of me, blocking the driver's door. I slowly slid a round into the MP5, the click loud in the sudden quiet.

"Are you afraid of sitting with them?" I asked, hanging my sword at my back.

No am not, John responded. "I mean I sit with my sisters all the time... So no." His eyes kept moving away from mine.

Yap, he's useless. Why would the universe give me a virgin in an apocalyptic world? I thought to myself.

Okie, Williams you will swap positions with your brother. I ordered while hanging my gun over my chest.

"Wait..., What. I didn't mean it like that," John sputtered, his protest dying as Williams' laugh echoed.

"Just shut the fuck up already and move to your new position." Williams jumped down from the Hilux's back.

The sun looks a bit brighter don't you think brother? Jubi asked as I got into the car.

"Yeah, though it looks as if a storm is coming," I responded, my eyes gazing at the sky. The clouds slowly gathered together, the air suddenly became stronger.

We're set back here brother! Praise hit the car's body thrice—bam, bam, bam.

Alright everyone put your seat belts on — I started the engine with a single turn of my key, "BROOM." The engine roared to life. And we... are on our way. I dragged the gear down to "D." I stepped down on that accelerator.

Woah! Be careful man, don't forget we are at the back, John yelled out.

"Hahaha," everyone suddenly burst into laughter. Better hold on tight bro, Williams answered his brother with a loud laughter.

"Fuck you Williams," John bit back instantly.

Yeah. Love you too John, Williams said.

Damn Brother! Praise yelled. What is it Praise? I asked watching him through the driver's mirror.

"These guns are just amazing," he replied with a big smile — while loading up the Smg and Woodpecker.

"Thank You!" I responded.

It might take us five probably ten days before we get to the Sahara Desert, Jubi spoke, while looking at the map he picked from under his seat.

Or maybe less if we don't encounter any problem along the way, I answered, my eyes glued to the road.

"Well hope you all know that problem follows us everywhere now," John voiced out — I say two weeks or more before we arrive at that desert and a few days more before we find that bunker.

"Hmmm," Prosper sighed softly — I don't like John and am not supporting him in anyway, but on this one he is right.

Okay, I can't argue with that, I said — but still let us believe we can get there a little faster, we just need to avoid as much danger as possible. My hands tightened around the steering wheel.

You know everyone has refused to say anything up till this moment, so I'm gonna help them — "Are you still human brother?" One of the twin girls suddenly spoke out. Silence immediately followed as no one said anything anymore.

Why do you ask me such question....? "Uhmmm..."

Dora, is my name, she responded quickly.

Yes, Dora.. Why the question? Don't I look human? I asked, my eyes moving from the road to her face through the mirror.

"For starters, only you can easily carry a demons blade around like its nothing, but some days earlier while you laid unconscious — it took the combined strength of all four guys to carry the blade. You easily kill low level demons without breaking a sweat, you survived that huge fire blast from that two eyed coloured demon — you..."

I get it already Dora... "Haaaa," I exhaled softly.

Do you have an explanation for all this? I somehow felt her eyes glaring intensively at my back.

Yes... Am still human Dora, I mean if I wasn't then you all would have been dead before now — I answered, watching her through the mirror.

"Okay, what about what the demon said about perceiving one of its kind within you? How do you explain that?"

Its probably because of the demon sword, come on family cheer up — I forced a smile on my face.

"Boom... Boom." Thunder suddenly screamed out without warning.

Jesus my ears, Jubi said, covering both his ears. I looked at the sky slowly turning dark, lightning flashed but it was different.

"Holy shit... Did you all see that?" John said pointing to the sky.

A black lightning? I've never seen that before, Prosper said, as she brought her head out the car.

Prosper put your head back in please, the car is moving at a very high speed, Williams said.

I don't think any of us have seen a black lightning before, Dora said.

Are you alright Debby? Jubi asked, her hands were visibly seen trembling. She nodded.

Do you all feel that, Williams said, rubbing his hands against his skin.

Yeah I think we all do, Jubi responded, my skin is freezing.

A shiver racked my own body too, my knuckles turning white on the wheel. Our breath plumed in the cab, fogging the windows.

This feels like a refrigerator, I said.

This is more than a refrigerator brother, this weather is unnatural, Williams responded covering up his entire body with blankets.

"Bam, bam," Praise hit the body of the car twice.

Guys we have a bigger problem than just the cold air, brother I suggest you drive faster!

I looked through the side mirror, giant ice spears were popping out of the ground at an incredible speed and number — I stepped on the accelerator without warning. I maxed out the speedometer in seconds.

  • Hold The Bridge

"Why are we heading towards the bridge, brother?" Jubi asked. "Wouldn’t it be a disadvantage for us? We might end up surrounded by demons.""After I defeated that demon, I gained some intel from it," I explained. "Half the city has already been taken over by demons. We’re currently in the half they control.""So we cross the bridge, then wait for them to come to us—is that the plan?" Williams asked, his fingers firmly wrapped around the machine gun."That’s it," I replied. "But we’ll need to make sure there’s only one path between us and them." My eyes caught a glimpse of the bridge in the distance."Bam-bam-bam." Praise hit the car’s body three times. "I can see the bridge up ahead, guys!""Yeah, I’m beginning to see it too!" John added."Now we’re approaching the bridge, brother. What’s the plan?" Williams asked."We’re going to destroy every lane except one," I said, my knuckles whitening on the steering wheel. "We’ll be on the other side to make sure none of them cross over. You g

  • Nation Wide Ritual

“Wait—what?” I said, looking from one face to another. “You’re telling me a demon saved you guys?”“That’s the truth, brother,” Williams answered. “While you were busy fighting that mad demon outside, we had no clue what was waiting for us inside the office building. Low-level demons were hiding in there.”“Yeah,” Praise added. “The ladies ran into them first and got captured.”Jubi stretched his arms and sighed. “We didn’t know what was happening. We just ran inside like fools—no plan, no idea. They overpowered us fast.”“But trust me, we didn’t go down easy,” Praise said with a small smile. “We killed seven or ten of them before they took us as prisoners.”Dora stood with one hand on her waist. “Honestly, we thought we were finished. But they didn’t kill us right away, so we kept hoping someone would come. Never in a million years did we think a demon would be the one to save us.”I rubbed the back of my neck and let out a long breath. “I don’t fully understand what’s going on here,

  • Saved By A Demon

"Ahhh..." I groaned as my eyes slowly opened. A chilling cold pressed against my back and seeped into my bones. Sticky, warm demon blood clung to my skin.I pushed myself up carefully, legs wobbling like a newborn’s. My vision blurred as I turned to my right. There lay the demon’s corpse. I clutched my head with both hands; loud, pounding sounds echoed inside my skull. It felt like my head was about to split open.Slowly, I took one shaky step after another. “Fuck! What happened?” I muttered, collapsing onto a nearby chair.I remembered fighting the demon. I was losing… but somehow, I had won. “Ahhh…” Why did my head hurt so much? I glanced back at the demon’s body. *Now I see.* I had eaten its flesh. I guess I only did it to protect my family.“Wait—my family!” My eyes widened. *Fuck… Please, you guys should be alright.*I shot to my feet and immediately regretted it. My skull pulsed like a second heart—every heartbeat drove fresh spikes of pain behind my eyes. Spit slipped from my

  • Thank You, Human

That very day, the demon crawled across the cold steel floor like a broken animal. It choked on its own thick, dark blood with every breath — wet, ragged, and painful.“I should have killed you,” it hissed. “I never should have let you escape.”I didn’t reply immediately. I simply walked toward it, my sword scraping along the metal ground, the sound echoing like a never-ending scream.“Well,” I said finally, “we can’t go back and change the past, can we?”“Damn you… Chris,” the demon cursed. Its voice was low and cracking, almost gone.I swung my blade swiftly. *Swoosh.* Both of its hands flew off and landed with a wet smack on the floor. Black blood sprayed across the steel in ugly patterns. The demon laughed even as it coughed up more blood. I flipped it over with my boot so it lay on its back, staring up at the ceiling.“Why do you pity me, demon?” I asked, standing where its right eye could see me. Those red eyes were growing weaker, fading. It coughed again — a nasty, rattling so

  • Dark Flames

I coughed hard. Blood spilling from my mouth. For a demon so fat and big, it's more flexible and faster than it seems—I thought to myself. My ribs sent waves of pain into my head, my back hurt like hell—vision blurry. "Now... Do you remember me, Chris?" The demon asked, its voice sounded like a young lady I knew—a wicked smile spread across his face."Now... I do," I grunted slowly I stood to my feet. I remember that disgusting skin, that annoying smile—that ugly body... It's going to fall before my blade. "Wow—" am honored by those touching words of yours, at least now when you die—you will know who was responsible. You have it all wrong bastard—slowly I picked my sword with my right hand, I'm going to end your pathetic life. Here and now! I swung my blade around."Bring it!" The demon advanced with a burst of speed. We both met at the center of the base. His claw came down on me, I met it head on with sword. He tried to grab me with his left hand, I ducked. "Arghhhh," it roared af
