“You shouldn’t be shedding tears, Lancaster. You’ll ruin your make-up.” A cold voice snapped Evelyn out of her daze.

She jerked her head up. It was the governor’s son. Felix.

Evelyn wiped her tears fast, her hands shaky, making sure her makeup stayed perfect. “Hello, Sir Felix. I… I didn’t know you followed me,” she stammered, her voice small, her eyes dropping to the floor.

Felix didn’t smile, didn’t look away. His eyes stayed locked on hers, sharp and unyielding, like a predator sizing up prey. Evelyn couldn’t meet his gaze—her heart raced too fast. Her mind was still a mess from the chaos her family had just dragged her through.

Felix was a tall, dark figure, his presence heavy, his tailored black suit screaming money, the gold watch on his wrist flashing with every move, worth more than most people’s homes. He stood with his hands in his pockets, his jaw set, his aura cold and dangerous. A diamond-encrusted pin on his lapel caught the light, a silent flex of his wealth, a rem

The guards moved in without hesitation. “And lock him in the basement,” Yichen added, slipping the card into his pocket. “I’ll personally verify the card myself. If it’s genuine, we’ll deal with it. But if not…” His voice dropped to a whisper as he leaned into one of the guards. “Kill him. Quietly. Cover it up.” The guard nodded and moved. Miles only smiled as he was being handcuffed. The whole situation felt funny to him. A man whom he had never seen in his entire life, accusing him of what, theft? Also, did the man really think he would be able to use the card? When he was about to withdraw money from the ATM the previous day, the ATM scanned him and identified him by name. He did not need a security PIN. Just then, Jia—who had been quietly watching from behind the counter—stood up from her seat and stepped forward. “Boss,” she said, bowing her head. “Forgive me. I do not dare question your authority… but I believe this boy may be telling the truth. He’s not like the others. H

  • Chapter 143: "Is He A Wang?!"

Miles paused, staring at the guard. He was getting pissed off really bad. He had been shot, and the bullet literally was blocked from entering his body. He needed self-control or he would rip the guy’s guts right out of his throat. People were also skeptical. But eventually, Miles just pulled out the black-and-gold card. “Does this work?” he asked, placing it on the counter. Jia picked it up. Her breath hitched. She could not touch the card. She could not hold it. Jia screamed, “He… he’s got a black card, everyone. He is a Wang.” She knew this symbol. Everyone knew this symbol. The stylized "W" encircled by a golden dragon. It wasn't just a credit card. It was a Wang Empire card. The highest tier. The kind of card only a member of the Wang family—or someone extremely close to them—would possess. Her hands began to tremble. “Sir… This… This is…” She stammered. “Does it work?” Miles repeated, his voice flat. Jia swallowed. “Yes, sir. It works. Of course, sir. Right away, sir.”

  • Chapter 143: "Xingshi"

“What are you doing here? Beat it, vendor.” the security guard said, rudely. Miles turned around to look at him. Despite being barely 18, Miles was as tall as him. But the man appeared more imposing and muscular. That was his job. “I am here to find a room. Do you have a problem with that?” asked Miles. The guard looked at him from head to toe. “You… you are a model, aren’t you?” he asked, scanning Miles’ body like he was some new tech in the market. “You are from the island, yeah?” Miles was tired of being asked that question and having no clue what these people mean. “Fuck no. I don’t know what those people are and just as I said, I am here to find a room.” The guard suddenly laughed out loud. “If you are not a Model, how then do you intend on paying for any room here? You look like a kid who just dropped out from college and is into skin-care. Get out before I force you out myself.” said the security guard. Miles despised how rude the guy was. He despised rude people. Even

  • Chapter 141: Han Vision News

Miles walked into the restaurant. It was classic, beautiful, and he felt like he was in heaven. He saw people come in and go out. Humans who looked like wealth, who looked way different from the boys and ladies in the bunker. The hotel was beautiful, but it was nowhere near the mansion he woke up in –Galy’s mansion. Galy’s mansion was more breathtaking -the best thing he had seen all his life. The technology, the architecture. He doubted if he'd ever see somewhere as incredible as that. But this place had its uniqueness. The architecture was quite different from that of Galy’s mansion. The hotel’s reception area wasn't overdone, just… smooth. Really smooth. Like everything had been polished until it shone without being flashy. The floors weren't marble, but something else. Something that absorbed sound, so the usual hotel chatter was just a low murmur, like a river in the distance. Lights weren’t hanging from the ceiling. They seemed built into the walls, strips of warm light

The lady finally replied, tilting her head. “You were always so stubborn,” she murmured. “Even as a baby.” Gary’s knees buckled. He caught himself just before hitting the floor. “Do you remember the song?” he asked her suddenly. “The one you used to hum when I had nightmares and couldn't sleep?” She blinked slowly. Then, without moving her lips, she began to hum. Low. Gentle. The exact rhythm. Only his grandmother knew that song. She created it specifically for him. Gary closed his eyes. That was it. That was her. He couldn’t breathe. But then, the humming stopped. He opened his eyes—she was staring blankly again, the spark gone, her expression as still as stone. “She only activates emotionally when triggered by deep associative memories,” Wang said, now sounding like a scientist in a lab. “It’s a security protocol. And an evolution limiter. But that would be fixed soon. And that is why you are here.” Gary stood up slowly. His tears were gone. His face had gone cold. “You!
