I stared at my phone, the screen glowing like it held my fate in its small, rectangular grip. My body was heated up, I was not sure if it was from the fear of uncertainty or the fact that she was going today no to my proposal.

I have gotten used to ladies rejecting me like I was some piece of garbage.

But things should be different now. I was a bit richer than I was before.

But first, I needed to make the ladies see another new side to me. Sometimes I planned on rectifying shortly if Sandra

The system might be on my side and give me whatever money I wanted but I know I was still vulnerable. I need to learn how to throw a few punches or hire some of the kids who can do them for me. I was scared but trying to run was just going to make it more difficult. Jeremiah loves a good sport and I was not going to give him that satisfaction. Cassie’s grip on my thigh went rigid, then she pulled her hand away quickly as though my skin had turned to fire. “Shit,” she whispered, panic flashing in her eyes. “I didn’t know he was here—” I snapped my head toward her, narrowing my eyes. “Didn’t know or didn’t care? Weren't you going to show me one or two? Why were you really here if you are going to bounce the moment you see him?” Her mouth opened, but no words came out. Her silence was louder than any excuse she could have thrown at me. Jeremiah stopped a few feet away, his presence suffocating the air around us. His jaw was locked tight, and the veins on his neck pulsed like the

Trust me, things were finally going our way. My mother had just offset some of our loans and finally some breathing space. The money she got from her daily sales was saved up. Initially,Martha had thought the money was going to be poured into my education but little did she know that I was handling them. I bought new books, paid my bills and even paid for the next trip to New Zealand. It was everything that I always wished for. To leave the country and your other country. But of course, Sandra was still on my case. She still wanted to know why I lied to my mother about the money. She was not the only one though. I could see the look on their faces. The whispering behind my backs. “ Do you think his father is some kind of a business Mongol?” “ What is his surname again?” “ Where is he getting all that money?” “ I bet he stole them?” I was loving the fact that I was gaining all the attention. They were slowly forgetting about him. Jeremiah. And they were focusing m

I was happy that she was standing at the door just when I needed her but at the same time, I cannot dare to bring myself as to why she was at my door. “ Who is that?” My mother shouted from the living room. I didn't reply, I just stared at her face wondering what she was doing at my door step. “ Are you going to invite me in or are you just going to keep staring at my face like you have seen a ghost?” “ My bad. Sorry. Come in.” I moved slightly away from the door brushing my messy hair backwards. My heart thumped with a lot of thoughts crossing my mind. Has she been following me? Or was she here for some pay back? Well, on the bright side, I didn't do anything to make her want to hate me or kick my ass. I knew I was a jerk but it was in a romantic way. “ You have a lovely house, Pontius.” she smiled, looking back to catch my nervous face. “ You live here alone?” “ No, he doesn't. He stays with his mom.” My mother's voice cut her shut. “ Oh, I am sorry. My name is

The last thing on my mind was my mother being paranoid. I knew she wouldn't believe anything I told her. I mean, who would believe that a mysterious system bestowed me wit money on every quest that I tried to accomplish. Well, on the good part most of my quest was about taking down Jeremiah. I still don't know what to tell her. We have alot of debts to offset. Maybe the system was trying to help me out of this mess or maybe I haven't just realised what the system wanted with me. I looked at the pictures, the videos and my head began to boot immediately. I have seen Sandra drove that exotic car. Maybe I can pin all of this on her?“ She helped out.” My lips parted and the word flew out unknowingly. “ Who? Who are you talking about?” My mother eyebrows arched. I don't want her worrying about me. “ Sandra. She is my new girlfriend. She helped with everything you are seeing on there, mum.” My gaze bored into her. Did she believe me? Not sure yet. “ Are you sure about this, Pontius

Funny when you think you are alone and boom, somebody shows how to save the day. I was still in shock. That moment when you think you are down, no helper, no girlfriend, nothing but there is something in your life giving you joy. Sandra was not my girlfriend. At least, not yet. Cassie and Layla had taught me the hard way. I can't fall for a lady even if I want to. It was best for us to benefit ourselves. You scratch my back and I scratch yours. I know a lady like Sandra wanted more. Attention, cravings and most importantly being truthful. I stared at the card in my hand and smiled. I was like that before. I was truthful to Layla and even Cassie but they used it against me. I was not going to make that same mistake again. I tucked the card into my pocket with the key I had just won dangling between my neck. For some weird reason, most of the kids wanted to be my friends. It was quite funny, most of them laughed at me and even talked behind my back. But everything change

I could feel all eyes literally staring at me. Am I in trouble? “ Is he in trouble?” One of the bystanders stared at me. His hand gently draped over the shoulders of his girlfriend. “ Are you Pontius?” He asked gently, his hand pocket inside the black pants he was wearing. “ Yes. That is my name.” I replied, my eyes fully pressed on him. “ Well, this is for you.” The man simply brought out a black card and handed it over to me. At first, I felt scared to collect it. I don't know who he was and trust me, I don't care. I have never expected any help from anyone aside from the mysterious system. My eyes darted towards Jeremy who wanted me to fall at all cost and of course, there are my ex's who wanted to see me crash and burn too. “ Is that a black card?” “That is impossible! Only the elite use it.” “ Who's Pontius? Is he some rich man’s kid?” “ What does his father do?” “ Do they own a company or something?” I myself was not sure why the heck is going on?”
