I thought the night could not get worse. After the banquet, I dragged myself home, my shoulders aching, my head heavy.

My stomach was a tight knot of shame. Every laugh, every gentle gossip from the hall replayed in my mind, telling me I was a nobody. A joke.

I let out a gentle sigh the moment I walked in feeling all tired and worried out.

The house was quiet when I entered.

The light was on, everything seemed perfect, but then the air smelled… different. Sweet, sharp perfume lingered, the kind I didn’t recognize as mine. My heart thumped, and my gaze swept the sitting room fast. But there was nothing—nothing that could explain it.

Maybe I was imagining things. Maybe she had just sprayed it earlier. I set my keys on the table, trying to calm myself. But then I heard it.

A masculine voice gently coming from upstairs.

Our bedroom.

My stomach sank. I froze. My legs felt heavy. My hands trembled, but I forced myself to move. Each step toward the bedroom made my heart pound harder. I wanted to run, to scream, to disappear. But I couldn’t. I had to know.

I stopped at the slightly open door. I shouldn’t have looked. I knew I shouldn’t. But my eyes betrayed me.

And then I saw it.

Linda. My wife. My own wife. In bed. With another man. Not just flirting. Not just a kiss. Everything was there, I could smell the freshness of their intimacy right there in my own bed.

I froze. My mouth went dry. My chest burned. My knees weak. My hands shook. I could barely breathe. I wanted to cry. I wanted to scream. I wanted to vanish.

I stepped back quietly, brushing the carpet. The creak was enough to make the man notice. He smirked. Linda looked up and saw me.

Her face didn’t show guilt. Not even a flicker. Just amusement. Pure, calculated amusement.

“Well, Daniel,” she said, her voice cold as ice, “I didn’t expect you home so soon. You should have waited a big longer at the party. Probably clear the empty chairs or the dishes. You know, something to keep you busy."

I couldn’t speak. My throat was tight. My words trapped. I wanted to shout, to demand why, to make her feel a fraction of my pain. But I couldn’t.

I could only stare at her in pain and hatred.

“You’re… you’re—” I tried, but the words wouldn't just come out.

“You’re nothing, Daniel,” she said, smiling. “You always were. Everyone knows it. Don’t pretend otherwise.”

The words hit me like a hammer. I felt my stomach twist. The man in the bed smirked, looking at me like I was invisible, like I didn’t exist.

I wanted to stay. I wanted to confront her. I wanted to tear her apart with my words. But I couldn’t. Not yet. Not now. Not when I felt so betrayed, so small.

But then, his next words startled me. It felt almost like I didn't hear him right.

“So… the contract,” the man whispered. “It’ll be yours if you just… marry me. Forget about him.”

My stomach dropped. My legs shook. I couldn’t believe my ears. Forget about me? Forget about us?

Linda laughed softly. “Of course. He’s… weak. Worthless. I’m tired of pretending. This is my chance to secure everything. The company, the deal… it’s finally mine. And you… you’re the key. Just a little more… and it’s done.”

I wanted to scream. I wanted to storm in and ruin them both. But I couldn’t. My body refused to obey. My mind refused to process.

I pressed myself against the wall, hiding, listening. Every word cut deeper than any slap. My wife, my vows, my love—reduced to a contract and a bargain.

The man laughed softly. “You’re smart, you know. Most women wouldn’t have done this so boldly. You’ll get everything.”

Linda’s voice was soft but full of venom. “He was never the man of the house anyways. He was just a man I had to put up with because I needed to free myself from thinking about you after our break up. Now that you are back, I see no reason why I should keep him."

I wanted to kill them both. I wanted to disappear. I wanted the floor to swallow me whole.

I shut my eyes trying to surpress my anger.

The man got up from the bed and laughed. " He was never going to take my spot anyways. The R&B contract will be yours the moment you say the word. I can give your family the life you deserve." he said with a smirk as he gazed bored into me.

" Only if you leave the wretched looking good for nothing man." he add.

It was then I felt like stabbing him and I probably did stabbed him a million times in my heart.

" Are you going to keep standing there or you are going to draw me a warm bath?" Linda snapped at me.

I sniffled.

Call me names. Call me stupid. But the truth was that, I loved my wife. I rushed into the bathroom and immediately set the bathroom for usage.

I could hear their laughter coming from our bedroom but it didn't matter.

I loved her enough to do all of this.

But then, I walked back to see her standng with a brown envelope in her hands.

" What is this?" I asked, my gaze going straight to her hand.

" The ticket to your freedom and out of my life." she replied

The room felt tense.

I looked at her and she smirked.

" Don't act dumb. I want a divorce." Linda said walking past me.

  • DEAL WITH THE DEVIL

Janet’s head snapped toward me so fast that strands of hair fell across her face.“Deal?” she repeated, her voice low and dangerous. “You made a deal with him without even asking me?”I did not answer immediately.Because the truth was simple. If I started thinking too much, I would realize I had just shaken hands with the kind of man I was not supposed to trust.Almond smiled slowly and stretched out his hand. “Wise choice, boy.”I stared at his palm for a second before taking it.The moment our hands touched, something cold ran through me.Not fear.Warning.Laura looked up from the laptop and laughed softly. “Congratulations. We are officially working with snakes.”Janet folded her arms. “Speak for yourself.”Almond ignored the tension and turned toward Laura. “How long?”“Give me ten minutes.”“You have five.”Laura rolled her eyes and continued typing. The room returned to silence except for the rapid tapping of keys.I walked toward Janet. She stepped back.“You’re angry.”“I’m

  • DANIEL THE GREAT!

I looked at Almost and back at Laura. I was not really sure if telling them what I knew was the right thing to do. "How did you know I was here?" I asked, staring at him."This house has a tracer. The moment you got here, I was alerted." Almost replied Janet stared at Laura, who seems to be more interested in me. "When did you find out your blood heals?" she asked I didn't feel like answering her question. Laura had betrayed my trust in her, so talking to her felt awkward. "Why do you care?" Janet answered back immediately with a feisty tone. "Don't you think we are allies for a second?" Laura laughed. "You really think a man like Daniel is meant for someone like you?" Laura said back. The room felt tense. "He is my husband. We are bound legally," Janet fired back. I immediately walked into the midst of them. "Back off, Laura. The only reason you are here is because I have no other place to crash. What we have going on is a simple understanding. You scratch our backs, and we

  • THE BLOOD SAGA

Almond’s question hung in the air like a blade suspended by a thread. “And whose blood is this?” For a split second, no one moved. Janet reacted first. She let out a sharp breath, too quick, too forced, and stepped forward before I could say anything. “It’s nothing,” she said, waving her hand dismissively. “I cut myself earlier. Broken glass.” Almond didn’t look convinced. His eyes dropped back to the floor, tracing the scattered crimson droplets. Then slowly, deliberately, he crouched down. Two fingers brushed against the stain, rubbing it thoughtfully. I felt my pulse spike. Too much blood. Way too much for a “small cut.” “Broken glass?” he repeated quietly. Janet crossed her arms, forcing a shrug. “Yeah. From the kitchen. I cleaned most of it already.” “Most,” Almond echoed. Laura shifted near the doorway, her gaze flicking between all of us. She wasn’t speaking, but she was watching. I stepped forward, inserting myself between Almond and the rest of the

  • JANET SCARED

Janet and I froze where we stood, our eyes fixed on the aquarium. The little golden fish darted wildly through the water as if nothing had happened. It swam in frantic circles, bumping into the glass before suddenly going still near the bottom. Its tiny body twitched once... then it slowly rose again and glided upward.Alive.Truly alive.Janet turned to me so sharply the chair behind her nearly tipped over."What the hell are you?" she whispered.I wish I had an answer. My palm still bled from the cut. Blood dripped onto the floor in soft red taps. Yet I barely felt the pain anymore. The wound was already closing. Flesh knitting itself together before our eyes.Janet stumbled backward."No..." she muttered. "No, no, no..."She grabbed my wrist and raised my hand to the light. The cut that had been deep enough to expose skin beneath was now nothing more than a thin pink line. Her fingers trembled."You heal too?""I don't know.""You brought me back. "You brought a fish back. And now

  • A HEALING BLOOD

Things haven't been the same ever since I woke up back to life. I could tell Janet was going to figure it out anytime soon, but then, I have to understand what I am. The only way to do that was the book. I have to get it back from Dac. I had to find it, but I didn't risk letting him know I was alive. I knew that by now. Janet, on the other hand, was freaking out. She walked into my room, her body inclining against the door. "What is your plan, Dan? We can stay in hiding. "This is now two weeks of silence and doing nothing," she said with brows arched. I raised my head slowly and stared at her. "You need to understand that Dac is after me. I don't think I would be safe anymore than I am right now, Janet. I need to figure out what I really am." Janet smiled, her feet echoing as she walked closer towards me. "You are not just anyone, Dan. You are from a powerful bloodline, and you need to stop treating yourself like an imposter. Dac and Almond should be scared of you and not the o

  • The trap

Gerald’s breath hitched the moment the gun touched the polished surface of the table. The soft click of metal against marble sounded louder than it should have—like a final verdict. No one moved. No one dared to.Linda’s fingers tightened around her mother’s arm until her knuckles turned white. Penelope winced slightly but didn’t pull away. Her eyes were fixed on the weapon, then slowly lifted to Dac’s face—searching, pleading, trying to find the man she once believed her daughter had married. The man who single-handedly helped when Daniel was breathing down on their neck real hard. But the man standing before them now… felt like a stranger.Dac leaned back slightly, his expression calm, almost amused, as though he were watching a performance instead of orchestrating one.“Well?” he said, his voice smooth. “I believe it’s your turn to explain, Gerald.”Gerald swallowed hard. His mind raced, scrambling for something—anything—that could pull them out of this situation without bloodshe
