Chapter 2: Camp Underground (The World of Poor People)

Three Months Later.

It's been three months since the death of Narukha's parents. After the rescue from the System Warriors who were too late, he was taken to a refuge area.

The name of the refuge is Camp Underground. Where Narukha lives now.

Distant, seedy, and...cramped together.

"Hey you kid. Wake up! Wake up!"

Narukha was already awake. More precisely, he never really fell asleep. But he pretended to groan as if he had just woken up, turned around and saw a man with a little white beard and a shabby face.

Without making a sound, Narukha was motioned to sit down quickly. The man's gaze was wary around Narukha.

Narukha was confused, again pretending to blink.

"What is it?" asked Narukha after sitting on the edge of the divan without legs.

"You know what? I have a secret," whispered the man when Narukha was already sitting on the edge of the cot bed. "There will be soup for breakfast today, and maybe for the next three days."

News about food supplies again.

It wouldn't come as a surprise to Narukha that someone like this man would tell her secretly. Because in special evacuation areas for the poor, food distribution was very small.

The meager distribution of food made them all have to fight over food. First come first serve, that's the principle of living in this refugee camp. People who can't be sure won't eat for a day.

Also, it is possible not to eat for four days.

Narukha could call himself lucky to have someone like this old man. He always tells every time there is a steaming kitchen.

As for people who didn't have anyone like this old man, they wouldn't know if a food distribution was coming. As a result, they certainly can not eat.

In this refuge, whenever the food distribution comes, only certain people know. Too many humans are greedy and only want for them.

They let their closest, though dearest, die. They will cry over the death of a loved one, but will then become selfish people who take food for themselves.

"Come to the third hut on the north side," continued the man.

Narukha's guess was right.

"You're not coming there, sir?" asked Naruto.

The old man nodded his head. "I will come, but I must inform my chosen one first."

Narukha only said yes because she understood what the chosen person meant.

This man definitely wants to give news to some special people that there is a distribution of incoming food.

So, without saying anything, Narukha just nodded her head briefly. Then gave a signal for the old man to leave.

With limp steps, Narukha walked while looking around. In this refuge, there are six wooden huts that can accommodate about ten to fifteen people.

Unfortunately, Narukha found a hut where fifteen people could live.

Narukha had to hold himself back every time he heard groans of pain, sad cries, or witnessed a mother giving her child leftover pieces of bread. Maybe, the bread was just left over from two days ago and they haven't had any food distribution yet.

Narukha's heart ached with pain even though she had been witnessing a scene like this for three months. The people in the hut where they lived couldn't do anything when their family members were starving.

Now Narukha steps out of the hut. It feels like a breath of fresh air. It was so suffocating in the hut that there was only the sight of suffering.

"Too much death here."

The sound caught Narukha's attention. Narukha's steps slowly slowed down. He turned his head to look at the two System Warrior members.

"Ah, their life is really sad. Why do they have to survive?"

Now Narukha stopped walking. His entire attention was focused on the two System Warrior members not far from him.

For some reason, Narukha felt offended. The words said by a member of the System Warrior hurt her heart.

"That's what their fate has to be," said the shorter member of the System Warrior.

Narukha's brow furrowed. He didn't like hearing those words.

"Do you know how many people every day have to die in front of me?" The slightly taller System Warrior member replied.

Then the System Warrior member laughed crookedly. "Every day they are just waiting to die. It's so sad."

Narukha automatically clenched his fists. The veins appear. Narukha gritted her teeth as she got irritated.

Narukha thought of her parents. The death of his parents was caused by a System Warrior coming too late to the region of the poor. Now, these two System Warrior members were speaking disdain for something, but the cause was them?

"Lucky, I didn't get that kind of life."

Narukha's temper exploded. A rush of anger in his chest prompted Narukha to step quickly towards the two System Warrior members. They stood with their backs to him, didn't notice that Narukha was coming and suddenly....

BUGS!

"DAMN HUMAN!"

Narukha punched one of the taller members, then cursed.

The System Warrior members were surprised to get Narukha's punch. His body almost swayed, but soon caught his balance.

"Hey! What are you doing?!" The member raised his voice to Narukha.

Narukha's anger bubbling up in his chest made his fearless. He deliberately lifted his chin, challenging.

"You insult people's lives here, but you don't realize that System Warriors are the cause of our death?!" Naruto raised his voice again.

In front of Narukha, the member who was hit immediately approached. Standing in front of Narukha and gripping his collar.

Narukha's body automatically lifted slightly. But there was no fear in Narukha's eyes.

"Watch what you say. You have no idea who you're talking to?"

Narukha smiled crookedly. "You mean killers? A bunch of people who only serve the elite and are slaves to capitalism?" he quipped.

The grip of the System Warrior members tightened even more. The member growled, eyes blazing with rage.

"You don't deserve to talk like that," he said. "Have you just witnessed the death of someone close to you?"

Hearing that question, Narukha's smile slowly faded. Narukha's face suddenly became tense.

The System Warrior member could immediately guess that their guess was correct.

"Hah!" The member laughed in satisfaction. "It's true. You got mad because the people closest to you died, then took out their mistakes on us?"

Narukha pushed the System Warrior member's chest roughly and shook off his shirt collar's grip.

"Bastard man. You think any human wants to die? Death is not what they want, but you guys...."

Narukha raised his finger loudly. Narukha deliberately gave a challenge.

"You guys are only the servants of the elite and not oversee the areas of the poor like us!" Narukha continued.

The two System Warrior members in front of Narukha looked innocent.

"Not our fault, Snot-nosed Boy!" replied the shorter member. "Do you really think you could do a good job in our position?"

"At least I won't let people die, then insult their death!" Narukha's tone implied anger.

"You talk too much!"

Just as the higher member System Warriors were about to approach and throw their fists, another four System Warriors came. There were several adult male residents who pulled Narukha's body away.

Everyone tries to separate Narukha and the System Warriors.

"You don't talk carelessly! Do you think you're perfect?!"

"Murderer!" Narukha did not hesitate to say swear words. "You, you, killers! We die here because we don't get food distribution! You killers!"

Narukha's emotional turmoil rose in just a short time. His breath was pumping fast. Narukha felt his chest being pressed by various feelings, between uselessness, regret, and anger.

"What can you do?! Its your loss, let them die!"

Then it wasn't just Narukha who was angry.

The words of a member of the System Warrior provoked the anger of the other residents.

When the commotion broke out, suddenly the sound of bullets was heard. It echoes so much that it silences the entire mouth that speaks noisily.

All eyes moved in one direction. A man wearing all black is holding a gun. One hand was held up in the air, while his gaze was sharp on everyone.

"Shouldn't you be looking for food to survive longer? Would fighting like this, with your thin bodies, make you survive longer?"

Narukha frowned. He ground his teeth.

Then his eyes shifted to Narukha.

"And you, Sniffer Boy, none of us are deserve to get blame."

Narukha's eyes remained fixed on the man. Not wanting to move in another direction, even though the man started walking towards her.

When he stood in front of Narukha, the man cupped Narukha's right cheek with one hand. The Unknown Man patted Narukha's cheeks very slowly like someone who wanted to wake him up.

"You have to be aware of your position here. Can you fight those monsters yourself?"
