A useless son-in-law

While walking through the flea market, Marc was distracted for a moment by the things they were selling in the stalls. He was looking for a birthday gift.

"Marc, is that you?" asked one of the men.

Marc recognized them immediately as the henchmen of his original family. "Yes, it's me," he replied, not wanting to go into details.

"We have orders to bring you back to the family," the man said earnestly.

Marc sighed, knowing this conversation wasn't going to be easy. "I'm sorry, but I already told them I don't want to go back," Marc replied.

"We understand, but the family needs you now more than ever," the man insisted.

"I'm not coming back, I'm sorry," Marc said, as he walked away from the group.

As he walked away, he heard the men talking among themselves, "I guess we'll have to convince him another way," one of them whispered.

Lost in thought. He remembered clearly his former life in the Alonso family, the contemptuous looks from his grandfather and the constant comparison with his older brother.

The day he left he looked around, feeling the room closing in on him. All the eyes of his family were on him, full of contempt and disappointment. He had failed again, and this time his father was determined to punish him.

"Don't you understand what it means to be an Aloson?" his grandfather shouted at him. "You have everything you've been given and you're not capable of doing anything with it."

Marc felt his heart pound. But he had had enough. The time had come to do something for himself, to take control of his life.

"I totally understand," Marc said quietly, lifting his head to look his father in the eye. "And I think the time has come for me to do something with it."

His grandfather stared at him, puzzled. "What do you mean?" he asked.

"I mean I'm leaving," Marc said, "I can't go on living under your shadow, under my brother's shadow."

There was a moment of silence, as everyone absorbed his words. Then his father burst out in anger.

"How dare you?" he shouted. "How dare you abandon everything we've given you, everything we've done for you?"

"I'd rather live with nothing than live in this gilded cage," he said. "I'd rather be free, make my own decisions and fight for what I want. And if that means losing everything I have, then so be it."

He turned and walked away, knowing he would never be welcome in his family's home again. But he also knew it was the first step toward his own happiness, toward the life he wanted to live.

Marc was walking through the streets of the city, when an older man stopped him. Marc was surprised to recognize the man this was the grandfather the beautiful Melinda Hamilton, but he didn't understand why the old man was looking for him.

"What does he want?" asked Marc, confused.

"I know who you are Marc," the old man replied. "You are the second son of the Alonso family, cast out many years ago. But you still have Alonso family blood running through your veins, and you can still claim your place at the top."

Marc was puzzled - how did this old man know all about his past and his family? And why was he interested in helping him now?

"But I'm not part of that family anymore," Marc said, "I left a long time ago, and I have nothing to do with them."

"Maybe not now," said the old man, "but there's still a chance to redeem yourself and restore your family name. Melinda, she's a strong and intelligent woman,"

"But... why me?" asked Marc.

"Because you are the only one who can do it," replied the old man. "Because you have the strength and wisdom you need to lead. And because you have the courage to make tough decisions and do what's best for your family."

Marc, looked the old man in the eye and saw the determination and faith in his gaze.

"Okay," Marc said, "I'll do it. For my family and for Melinda."

The old man smiled. "That's what I wanted to hear. Come with me, I'll introduce you to Melinda. And together, we will restore our families' prestige."

Marc followed the old man, still a little confused and worried about what the future held. But he also felt a spark of hope and excitement. Maybe, just maybe, he might find his place in the world after all.

Melinda Hamilton, was sitting in her room, staring out the window with a frustrated expression on her face. She couldn't believe her grandfather had married her off to someone like Marc What was she thinking? Marc walked into the room and sat down on the bed beside her, knowing he had to face the situation head on. "Melinda, I know this isn't what you expected, but you have to understand that I had no choice in this. I was found by your grandfather and he asked me to marry you."

"And what about all the privileges and wealth I would have as the wife of the leader of the Hamilton family?" Melinda complained. "Why did he have to pick you, a loser he found on the street?"

Marc sighed. "I understand how you feel, but I promise I'll do my best to be a good husband and earn your trust. I don't want you to see me as a stranger or a hindrance in your life."

Melinda looked at him with disdain, but after a few moments of silence, she finally spoke. "All right, Marc. I'll give you a chance. But don't expect everything to be easy between us."

Will Melinda accept Marc a man she considers a loser? Will Marc, once again enter a family with the same hostile behaviors he resigned from some time ago? Will the Alonso family manag
