Chapter 1 - Casted way

“Get out of my house Andrew and never step foot here till you die!!"

A man with silver hair, stylishly slicking backward barked at a young man, his voice like a roaring thunder, cut through the spattering rain drop outside.

Thud!!

Heavily, Andrew, the 19 years old guy, dressed in old and withered clothes fell on his knee.

A single glance at him is enough to know he's very poor despite growing up in a wealthy family. Everyone in the family detest him for no reason. No single penny is spent on him unless he works for it– a meager amount.

That morning, after the arduous task in the house– washing everyone's clothes, cleaning the whole apartment, cooking and other work in spite of the fact that they have maids who could do the tasks, his father, Zane Dante called him to the living room in the presence of the whole family.

Andrew had thought he'd throw him $50 as usual, the money he's expected to spend for a whole month but his father shocked him with his outburst!

“What have I done father!??” Don't chase me away dad! I'm your son!” Andrew cried out on his knee, his voice laced with pain and desperation.

“Son?” Zayne dante chuckled, shaking his head.

“Henceforth, you cease to be my son! I can't father a useless thing like you and call him son. Just leave!” He Said, his tone firm and conclusive.

Before he could walk away, Andrew quickly reached for his leg, gripping it tightly.

“No dad!! Please!! I promise to make you proud!! I'll do the home chores harder and I'll collect no dime!! I'll fend for myself!” Andrew blurted, his frustrations at the edge. Tears clouded his eyeball, threatening to spill.

Andrew thought the reason his father wanted to cast him out of the family was because he hasn't been doing the house chores to his satisfaction. The man only hates him for no reason.

His own son!

“Let go of me!!” Zayne baked at him. At that moment, thunder rumbled across the sky, syncing with his harsh voice.

Andrew was relentless. He held his leg firmly, refusing to let go. His resistance spiked her father's anger the more which prompted him to kick him in the face.

His skin cut open, just below his left eye and blood slipped out from the fresh cut streaming to his cheeks. It looks like he was crying blood but he cared less about the pain he was feeling. He gripped his father's leg more tightly, pleading with him frantically.

“Mum please!! Help me beg dad!” Andrew cried out to his mother, Sophia Dante who stood at a side, refusing to intervene.

The extent of her hatred for him would make anyone wonder if she's actually her mother. The expression was hard and uninviting.

At her right is Jack, the first child. He's arrogant and rude. He hates Andrew and had always wished for a day like this. He grinned satisfactorily, seeing how helpless and hopeless Andre crawled on the floor.

Emily, the second child, calm and beautiful grumbled silently at a corner, feeling remorseful for Andrew.

She's the only one who likes Andrew. Most times, she snuck food into his room to help him from starving. Sophia, their mother won't take won't take it lightly with him if he caught him eating in the house!

“You’re wasting my food!” She had always said.

Emily risked it all, registering Andrew on an online university because their father had refused to allow him further his education after high school saying it'll be a waste of resources.

Andrew has no phone so he always attends the online classes using her phone in secret.

Dennis, the third child stood alone at a corner with a grin tugging on his lips. He's arrogant and heartless like his elder brother.

Andrew is the last child, the failure of the family!

“Take a look at your siblings.” He pointed at them.

“They’re doing well but you...”He waved his finger at him disdainfully. “You’re empty!”

Hearing their father praise them, Jack and Dennis smiled, their head swelling with admiration and their heart puffed with pride.

Emily couldn't take the humiliation Andrew was facing anymore. She grumbled out her dissatisfaction.

The family is responsible for his failure because they never cared about him.

“Dad, why do you all hate Andrew?! Why are you all treating him like he's less of a human when he's also your son too! You're accusing him of failing which you're everyone here is responsible for! It's unfair!!” She blurted out, solidly supporting Andrew.

“Will you just shut up!!” Her mother snapped, glaring at her. “Are you replying to your father for the sake of this worthless thing!!?”

“He’s not worthl..”

Emily was relentless in expressing her displeasure when her father yelled at her, cutting her off.

“Quiet!! Hold our tongue before it leads you in trouble because I won't hesitate to cast you out with him if I ever hear you speak!!” He glared at her for some moment before looking down at Andrew on the floor, his gaze callous and hard.

His forehead tightened with a deep frown. “This place is now forbidden for you! Leave now!!” He forcefully snapped his leg away from his grip and walked away.

“No dad!!! Andrew cried in a loud voice, the tears finally spilling from his eyes. Mixing with the blood. A pang of pain struck his heart as if a long sharp blade had just slit through his heart.

“Beat the hell out of him if he doesn't leave in the next 5 mins. Don't have mercy on him.” Zayne dante instructed two guards standing at the door before walking inside.

The guards nodded and approached Andrew. They're huge, welding a scary baton which they hit lightly on their palm as if threatening Andrew to stand up and leave otherwise things will get very messy for him.

“Just leave! Huff!” Jack said disdainfully, twisting his face in inclination.

Andrew struggled to his feet. The weight of his body had become heavier than his feet, an evidence of pain and heartbreak.

He looked from Jack to his mother then to Dennis. They all stared at him in disgust. Lastly, he looked at Emily to see tears rolling from her eyes.

He swallowed hard and grabbed his bag on the floor then hung it behind. He walked out, into the dark and rainy night.
