The next day, Ansel stood angrily in his wife's office.

She had been ignoring him for hours and now he finally got the chance to speak with her after threatening those silly guards that tried to stop him from entering earlier.

Slamming his fist on her table angrily, he leaned forward and stared at her with a look filled with disgust.

"What is the meaning of all the rubbish you spilled yesterday? Do you have any idea how much it can affect me?"

Clara already knew the reason why he was here, her gaze fell on the telephone, ready to call in security if need be.

But first, she decided that she would put him in his place.

"Don't forget that you are in my office. I can throw you out into the streets where you belong." She paused and then continued. "Didn't you ask for a divorce? I did you a favor by making it public and you should be thanking me instead."

Ansel scoffed at her reply, refusing to believe that this was the woman he had fallen in love with.

This couldn't be his woman, she was now a changed person and if so then his feelings had changed also.

He realized that there would be no point in arguing words with her. She wasn't worth any more of his time and so he turned to leave.

"I got so tired of breathing the same air as you, it was so disgusting to be seen with you. You should also be blamed for ruining my happiness!" Lana yelled as he walked away, she hadn't expected him to be so calm even after all she had done to me.

"In just a few hours, we will be divorced and you won't have to breathe the same air as me. The divorce documents are almost ready." Ansel said coldly and then opened the door to leave. He had already made an appointment to sign the divorce documents in the court and they would contact Clara sooner or later.

On his way, he heard whispers from passersby, even the workers who worked for Clara joined to make fun of him.

"That's the chronic cheat. I wonder how she was able to keep up with him."

"What a shameless man"

Two ladies discussed as he passed by and Ansel shot them a menacing glare. They both scurried away, afraid and scared that he would harm them also.

Just as he left the company, his phone vibrated and he placed his hand into his pocket to bring out the phone in order to know who the caller was.

His forehead creased as he saw the caller ID.

Uther was the one who was calling, his grandfather's butler and his long time friend.

Ansel picked up the phone, already knowing what Uther had to say.

"Young master Ansel, when will you come home to take your grandfather's responsibility? It's been over a year and I think it's time to do the needful." Uther's voice came on at the other end.

His voice was still as vibrant as though he was a youth but the truth was that he was in his sixties.

Ansel had never liked the feeling of having an arranged marriage, he wanted to marry who he truly loved but it seemed as though that was never going to happen.

It was one of the reasons he made a promise to his grandfather that if he couldn't find true love, he would marry whoever his grandfather wanted and inherit the property and claim his full rights.

Maybe that would be happening sooner than he wanted.

Clara shamelessly betrayed him and took his love for granted.

Ansel laughed bitterly for a while before saying. "I'm ready Uther, I'm currently in front of Amelond hotel, meet him at the roadside, I'll be waiting for you."

"Young master, I can see you already."

"What? Have you been tracking me?" Ansel spat, he soon saw a blue Lamborghini Aventador which parked in front of him.

Shocked, the car door opened automatically and he got into the car.

Uther was overjoyed to see the young master again, the last time they met was over a year.

"Greetings young master." He bowed his head politely as a sign of respect and Ansel leaned back on the seat.

The black card Uther was holding caught his attention and he stared at it intently.

"It was frozen, wasn't it?"

“Yes, it used to be frozen, Young master. Please accept your reactivated Black card," Uther said courteously, handing it to Ansel. "Your father, understanding your intention to come back, has reinstated your access to your funds. All that was withheld has been fully returned to you."

Ansel knew what the black card was, it contained unlimited money and he could spend as he wished.

When making the bet with his grandfather, he asked him to freeze it until he found his one true love and the other option was to unfreeze it whenever he was ready to return back home.

"Thank you Uther"

Ansel went out of the car before Uther could even say a word. He didn't have any more time to waste and so he contacted Aaron, his loyal assistant.

"I need recent surveillance videos from the parking lot near Clara's house. "

"Okay young master, I'll send it immediately."

Ansel ended the call, he was on his way to the court and this video could be a game changer.

Beep!

Just as he arrived at the entrance of the court, he heard a beeping noise from his phone and he smiled inwardly.

He tapped on the video and watched with pure disdain.

The video was of what happened in the garage, showing the clear immoral act of Clara and her ugly lover.

Ansel dialed Aaron's number and the latter picked immediately.

"Release this at my command, do you understand?"

"Yes Sir"

When the call ended, Ansel's heart was filled with joy.

With this video as evidence, he could make his wife taste the bitterness of a ruined reputation.

Ansel plastered a cold smile on his face, he strode confidently into the courtroom, taking large strides.

  • "Have you forgotten the past so soon?"

"Father-in-law Luther," the older man’s voice cracked. He stood a few feet away with his shoulders slouched, looking smaller than anyone had ever seen him. "I wish... I wish I could bring her back, I really do. But I can’t. I know that now. It's all my fault and i apologize for my past mistakes." His eyes darted from grandfather Luther to Ansel. The property that rightfully belonged to his mother was finally his again. He could still hear the judge’s voice echoing in his head in a calm but authoritative tone, “The court rules in favor of Ansel Luther, granting him full ownership of the property.”His lawyer had done exactly what Ansel had hired him for. No surprises there. With a lawyer of his caliber, victories like this were highly expected. But the image that stuck with Ansel the most was his stepmother’s face as the verdict was announced. The morning sun passed through the tall windows of the courthouse, casting long shadows across the polished floor.Ansel stepped through the door, his polished shoes clicking softly as he walked down the aisle toward the front of the courtroom. He had chosen his outfit carefully, a tailored suit, crisp white shirt, and a dark tie that made him look every bit the man he had grown to become. As soon as he entered, heads turned, including those of his father and stepmother, who were seated across the room. His stepmother's brows furrowed when she saw him, her lips pursing in disapproval. Ansel didn’t acknowledge them. Instead, he walked toward the plaintiff’s seat with a faint smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. The kind of smirk that said he had been waiting for this moment. His father, seated a few rows behind the defense table, leaned over to whisper something to his wife. He noticed how his stepmother hissed under her breath, clearly displeased.‘They think I spent my last
