The number hung in the air like a thunderclap.

One. Trillion. Dollars.

For a heartbeat, the entire hall froze. No one moved. No one dared to breathe.

Then the entire hall erupted into chaos.

Voices clashed over one another.

“Did he just say a trillion?”

If he were just trying to show off wealth, he could have bid for the other items, and he would definitely win.

Why was this one so special to him?

Alfredo’s hand, still raised in the remnants of his last bid, trembled before he lowered it slowly.

His heart thundered in his own ears.

He couldn’t believe what he’d heard.

One trillion?

He would have to sell everything... his estates, his fleet of cars, half the art in his vaults, even gut his company to its bones… and it still wouldn’t be enough.

Sophia descended the grand staircase with her bag slung over one shoulder. Before stepping out, she paused in the foyer where Sarah was sipping tea at the dining table.“Mom,” Sophia said sharply, “warn your daughter to stay out of my room.”Sarah’s brows knit, and her eyes flicked to Elena, who was calmly eating breakfast. The glare Sarah sent her was sharp enough to cut glass, but she didn’t speak a word.Elena simply lowered her gaze to her plate, chewing slowly as though nothing had happened. Then, without missing a beat, she looked back up at Sophia.“Have a nice day,” she said with a faint smile. “And don’t forget the package… please, handle it with care.”“I won’t,” Sophia muttered, adjusting her bag. Moments later, her car rolled out of the Aldridge estate gates.Later that eveningSophia’s GPS pinged the location Sarah had given her. The sun had already dipped low, casting long shadows across the road. She slowed her car as the building came into view.It was a new building

Behind the heavy velvet curtain, Elena’s sharp eyes followed every movement, every word exchanged between her mother and sister. She had been there since the moment Sophia stepped into the house, silent as a shadow. She was there even when Malvin visited. Her lips pressed into a thin line.A “favor”? A “package”? The sugary way her mother spoke. She had heard enough to know something was off. And she already overheard Malvin’s conversation with her mother moments agoElena was the eyes and ears of this house.Nothing happened here without her knowing. Now, she retreated from the window and shut her bedroom door behind her.Her feet paced the length of her room, her mind turning over the pieces.A surprise for Sophia.Planned by Malvin. Her gut twisted. She did not trust him one bit. She’d been watching him for weeks now — the way he charmed, manipulated, played the perfect victim. And that moment in the hospital…She remembered it vividly. It was late at night. She was supposed to wa

  • CHAPTER 133- Breaking the Ice

She had been standing there for five minutes watching her type and retype a message to Adrian. She could not help but frown, she thought she would have forgotten about him by now, and focus on the son-in-law she wanted for her- Malvin.“Mom!” Sophia exhaled sharply, pressing a hand to her chest. “You scared me.”Sarah smiled faintly, leaning on the open window frame. “I was watching you from upstairs. You’ve been sitting here for over twenty minutes, just… staring.”Sophia’s brows furrowed. “I was just… thinking.” She quickly grabbed her bag from the passenger seat and stepped out of the car, brushing past the topic before her mother could probe deeper. She hoped her mother was not standing there for too long and had not seen her typing and retyping a message like a girl trying so hard to get the attention of her crush. They walked side by side toward the tall double doors of the Aldridge mansion.Inside, Sophia slipped off her heels with a quiet sigh and called out, “Can I get someth

  • CHAPTER 132- The Surprise Plan

Sarah smiled warmly, still admiring the gold jewelry in her hands.“Of course, Malvin. Anything,” she said, her tone dripping with trust.Malvin took a slow step forward, leaning on the silver-handled cane. “I… have a little surprise planned for Sophia,” he began, the corners of his lips curling just enough to suggest that it was a romantic surprise. But his intentions were dark.“I’ve just finished furnishing my new villa outside the city. I thought… a candlelit dinner would be the perfect way to thank her for everything she’s done for me since the… incident.”Sarah’s eyes lit up instantly. “Oh, that sounds wonderful!”He chuckled modestly, lowering his gaze as though he was embarrassed. “But… I don’t want to ruin the surprise by telling her myself. I was hoping you could… gently persuade her to come. You don’t need to tell her about the dinner. Just… come up with something believable so she’ll be there. When she arrives, I’ll surprise her.”Sarah nodded without hesitation. “Conside

His parents had helped him set up the whole operation.Malvin smirked as he paced around. He had not used his legs in days because of his act.“Yesss… I told you. Sophia sees me differently now. Her mother practically adores me.”Henry’s tone dropped, every word deliberate. “Then make sure you take as much as you can from them. Don’t waste this chance, son.”Cecilia stepped closer, her voice low and urgent. “And once you marry into their family, you must penetrate their business. You know how our family company is failing. If you don’t do something, we’ll be bankrupt in weeks.”Malvin straightened his back, looking between his parents with calm assurance. “Relax. I’m going to do exactly that. Once I’m in, their wealth is ours. Their business… ours. I’ll bleed them without them even realizing it.”Malvin was still convinced that he had Rowan's full trust. But Malvin didn’t care.Sarah completely believed in him.And that was all he needed. That afternoon, he arrived at the Aldrige esta

Then you accuse him of poisoning my Grandfather. And now…” her hands clenched at her sides, “now you’re accusing him of pretending after he took a bullet trying to save my life?”Saying it aloud made Adrian realize how crazy it sounded. But it was the truth. Her breath hitched, but she didn’t stop. “I refused to see it before, but jealousy has clouded your senses, Adrian.
