Chapter 1

"Zara." Aaron widened his eyes perfectly. "What are you doing?"

Aaron was shocked to see his wife, Zara Campbell, kissing with another man right before his eyes. He had just sold the cupboard he had made at the behest of his mother-in-law.

Aaron's chest rumbled with anger and pain. The temperature all over his body heated up at the look on the face of the woman, who looked casual at his shocked arrival. How could Zara's expression look relaxed in front of Aaron after hugging another man?

However, the woman instead looked at Aaron with a condescending look. "Can't you see? I was kissing Jhony."

"Why are you kissing him? Are you out of your mind to do that? You're my wife, Zara." Aaron's tone was soft. He looked at Jhony with hatred. "And you, are a shameless man. Hugging a married woman."

Hearing that, Jhony only responded with a satisfied grin. On purpose, Jhony even wrapped his arms around Zara's waist to provoke Aaron's anger.

"Outrageous." He clenched his hands at his sides while still being calm, not showing how much he hated seeing that.

"Why, don't you like it?" Zara asked Aaron in a sarcastic tone of voice. Zara looked at Jhony with a loving gaze. "He's a kind and dignified man." Her gaze turned back to Aaron. "Not like you."

Jhony raised his eyebrows, feeling proud of Zara's compliment. Jhony looked at Aaron with a satisfied look. "Of course. I'm better at everything than this uneducated man."

Aaron looked sharply at Jhony. "Dignified man?" His gaze shifted to look at Zara. "You're wrong, Zara. He's not a dignified man for touching another man's wife."

Jhony's jaw hardened. His eyes glared at Aaron. "A lowlife like you dares to mock me. I almost laughed at that remark of yours, lowlife. Because you're the one with no dignity. You are much poorer than your wife and have nothing."

Aaron smiled slightly in response to Jhony's insult. "But that attitude of yours reflects how low your self-esteem is for kissing someone else's wife."

Jhony's eyes widened. Of course, Aaron's words just now provoked Jhony's anger. He was about to walk away with his hands clenched into fists, but Zara stopped him in his tracks as she stroked Jhony's broad chest. Zara stroked Jhony's cheek to make them look at each other. "I can take care of this and keep Aaron quiet. I couldn't bear to keep it this long for so long."

Aaron's jaw hardened. He turned his gaze in another direction. He was sick of seeing Zara being kind and gentle to Jhony right before his eyes. Those were things Zara had never done to him during their marriage.

Zara released her hug from Jhony, then folded her arms in front of her chest. "What Jhony said is true. You are an undignified man. You have no wealth and no education. I dislike you so much because you can't give me anything. Fortunately, I'll be divorcing you soon."

Aaron widened his eyes. He walked over to Zara with an incredulous look after his legs had become immobilized, rooted to the spot. "What do you mean, why do you suddenly want a divorce?"

She rolled her eyes, blatantly showing her displeased face to Aaron. "Ever since we got married, I've wanted to separate from you, Aaron. And I really can't stand being your wife for the past six months. The reason I married you was also because my grandfather insisted." She walked slowly, watching Aaron with a condescending gaze. "I wonder why my grandfather married me off to an uneducated man like you. A poor man who my grandfather brought home from nowhere."

Eight years ago, Mr. Campbell brought Aaron to the Campbell family home residence after Aaron saved him from a traffic accident due to the gas tank of the car he was riding in leaking, causing a fire due to the friction of the tires to the asphalt which almost trapped Mr. Campbell in a huge explosion with his car. Luckily, Aaron immediately helped Mr. Campbell escape the vehicle when thick smoke and flames surrounded it. Since then, Aaron has been living there, and Mr. Campbell married Aaron to Zara 6 months ago in return.

Jhony ruffled his loins with his chin raised haughtily. "It's obvious that he's not the man for you, Zara. His identity is unclear."

Zara returned to snuggling in Jhony's arms while looking at Aaron with a baleful gaze. "Yes, you're right, but now it doesn't matter anymore. Since my grandfather is gone, I can divorce a useless man like him and marry you, Jhony. A man who is clearly dignified and can certainly make me happy."

Jhony smiled happily at that. Jhony Smith was the heir to the Smith family. He owned several high-rise buildings in Mahataran City. It had proven how rich he was, which made Zara fall in love. The thing that Aaron, as her husband for the past 6 months, did not have, even though they never slept in the same room.

Aaron's heart ached even more at Zara's words. His feelings were torn deeper. He felt an excruciating heartbreak to be betrayed by the woman he loved. "Why would you do this to me?"

Aaron had always helped Zara and been kind to Zara, even feeling no problem being treated badly by Rozie, his mother-in-law. Aaron always tried to do everything for Zara.

Aaron looked at Zara with a messy look on his face. "I've never even done anything bad to you because I love you, Zara."

Hearing that, Zara laughed. "You're still asking why? It's obvious that you have no wealth and no education. I'm so sick of the useless things you do every day. I want us to get a divorce."

Aaron was speechless. Every word from Zara's mouth was like an ember that hurt his heart worse and deeper. Although they never slept together, Aaron loved Zara sincerely with all his heart. Even though the woman's attitude was rude and did not reflect a wife's behavior, Aaron never made a fuss about it. Aaron was truly sincere to Zara. Now, he felt his whole body limp as if the earth was no longer willing to be his foothold.

"Never mind, no need to talk too much." She opened the car door and took out a blue folder from there. "I need you to sign these divorce papers because to me, Jhony is now my husband."

Zara stretched out her hand, handing the folder containing the divorce papers to Aaron, which made Aaron silent, watching Zara.

"Hurry up and sign it!" Jhony ordered harshly.

Jhony's loud voice made Aaron's mother-in-law leave the house. Rozie frowned as she slowly approached Zara. "What's all the commotion about?"

Zara looked at Rozie momentarily, then raised the folder in her hand. "I asked him to sign the divorce papers, but he's just being petrified. It sucks."

Hearing that her daughter wanted to divorce Aaron made Rozie’s face turned bright. Of course, she had been looking forward to this for a long time because ever since Mr. Campbell had married Zara and Aaron, she had been the one who disagreed with it the most.

Rozie folded her hands in front of her chest with a big smile, looking at Aaron sarcastically. "It's good that it's like that. I totally agree with it, Zara. That way, our family won't be shamed by many people anymore because of this uneducated man."

"Yes, Mother. I also can't stand people's taunts and insults about him." Zara was reminded of the taunts she often received from her friends because of Aaron. She got even more annoyed remembering that. "This useless and worthless uneducated man can only bring shame and tarnish the good name of our family."

Rozie smirked. She lifted her chin haughtily. "What are you waiting for? Come on, sign the divorce papers quickly. I don't want to see your face here anymore."

Aaron's heart ached even more after seeing Zara hugging another man and the harsh words from Zara and his mother-in-law. His pride was getting trampled on. All the good things Aaron had done were never considered by them. He could no longer keep anything from his 6-month marriage with Zara.

"Alright, I'll sign it." Aaron immediately picked up the folder of divorce papers and signed quickly.

The three people smiled happily. Zara immediately took back the divorce papers that Aaron had signed. She even made sure again that Aaron signed in the right area. Zara's smile grew even bigger because she could marry Jhony immediately with this.

"Are you satisfied?" asked Aaron, his face flushed with anger when he saw Zara smiling contentedly.

"Yes, of course." Zara closed the folder with a grin. "This is what I've wanted for a long time."

Aaron stepped on his feet, about to enter the house to retrieve his belongings that were still in the house. However, Rozie blocked Aaron's steps by spreading both hands.

"Where are you going? You can't come in!" Rozie raised her chin with an angry face. "Why would a penniless man like you come into the house? Do you want to steal here?"

His blood boiled, remembering all the mistreatment from the woman who had always looked down on him. Aaron noticed the haughty face of the woman who used to be his mother-in-law. His voice became heavy, holding back anger. "Fine, I won't go in."

Aaron turned his body to leave immediately. But having just taken a few steps, Rozie quickly held Aaron's hand. "Hey, where's the money from selling the closet?"

Aaron immediately dismissed Rozie's hand with a cold glare. "You don’t deserve the money i earned with hard work.”

"You're so ignorant! You've been hitchhiking all this time and that money isn't even enough! Give it to me!" Rozie's eyes sharpened as she shouted.

"That's my closet." Aaron walked away and ignored Rozie's shouting voice.

Aaron walked slowly on the sidewalk with a wrinkled and disheveled face. He no longer had a place to live. With a broken heart and a chaotic mind, Aaron rubbed his face roughly. He looked down with a heavy head, and then his gaze was drawn to the object on the finger of his left hand.

Aaron exhaled, looking at the ring with the circular symbol. He touched the ring and rubbed it lightly. "It's a good thing I never took it off."
