Chapter 1
1: The Fall Of A Vehement Warlord (The Sins Of The Father)
“The sins of the father will haunt his family! Execute him!”
The Field Marshal’s voice echoed with fury, signaling the order for immediate execution. A sharp thud drove through Colonel Achilles Hector’s body as icy water splashed over his face. He had been having the same unforgettable nightmare— the tragic event that occurred two days ago kept replaying in his sleep. His father was found guilty of assassinating the Minister of Defense, and was hanged for it– an unforgivable national crime! [A first-degree murder! Was he innocent?] Achilles gasped in shock as he arose from a rough nap, splashed water still dripping from his face. Owen, the assistant military base commandant, taunted. “Hey! Wake up son of a murderer!” The mocking gestures intensified. Achilles glanced around and saw soldiers who were once his subordinates, now abusing him after his father was sentenced to death for murder. All the respect he had earned in the Liverpool Accord Military as a reputable Colonel diminished into thin air like it was never deserved. Achilles was nicknamed The Vehement WarLord— a high rank ‘God of War’ title coined through blood and vigor on the battlefield due to how fiercely and swiftly he fought. He had led Britain to numerous memorable victories with the aid of his combat expertise. Legend has it that the Vehement WarLord’s razor-eyes were so sharp as an eagle that he could sight a foe as far as 3500 meters. This advantage enabled him to move like the wind, invincible but right before their eyes. “Nitwit! How dare you sleep after what Anthony Hector did!? Thank Heavens he's been executed!” One of the private military personnel barked, obviously lower in rank. Late Brigadier Anthony Hector was Achilles's biological father and had been his muse in joining the military at age 16 after he lost his mother at a tender age. Achilles clocked 32 a few weeks back which marked his 16th year serving the British military. How would they tell him that his father, who exuded a high level of discipline and integrity, would gun down his own best friend? [For what exactly? At what price?] Achilles never believed that and maintained that his late father was framed! Owen, wearing a mean demeanor, announced, “Soldiers! On your feet, march to the Liverpool Mansfield parade ground! The General Commander has some words to share on the council’s decision about Achilles's fate!” Achilles breathed nervously but refused to show his concerns or any sign of weakness as he remained composed. Four soldiers quickly had a grip on him and pushed him forward. “Move it son of a murderer!” He stared at them and sighed inwardly; those were men who once looked up to him, soldiers that he trained and fought beside in various peacekeeping wars across several conflicting countries— now they treat him like trash. Julius Edmond, the no nonsense General Commander, stood with a straightened face— without hesitation, he cocked his weapon and shot two firearms in the air, which indicated the kick-start of the awaited judgment. After the walk of shame with co-soldiers embarking on endless taunting— they pushed him to the parade floor. Ironically, Liverpool Accord Military Base was once his second home, but it has now become an abode of prison, torture, and misery. The General Commander spat, “Achilles Hector!” “Your father, Late Brigadier Anthony Hector, was found guilty of a national crime— assassinating the Minister of Defense. The sin of the father shall descend on the offspring!” “Henceforth, with an immediate effect, you have been dishonorably discharged— stripped of all rank and privileges and barred from owning or using firearms.” While adhering to the heart-wrenching judgment, his heart was so heavy with dread that raw pain thrust against his chest. General Commander continued with a merciless tone, “You shall no longer be addressed as Colonel Achilles Hector, AKA— the Vehement WarLord (God of War)” “Hector's family name, once known for affluence, wealth, and vigor, would henceforth be labeled in endless shame, penury, and stigma.” “The Son of Murderer that’s what you'd always be called!” He pronounced and shot another round of firearms, which indicated the council’s judgment had been passed. Amid the glare of disgust all around him, he boldly spoke, knowing all he had was just himself, and no one would speak for him if he didn't. “General Commander, with all due respect, this is so unfair! My father was innocent!” His blunt words had everyone's eyes darting at him in fury. His co-soldiers muttered in disdain, “What the hell did that fool just spew?” Achilles, refusing to be intimidated, continued, “I have dedicated half of my age to the military; we have fought alongside and restored peace in several warring countries.” “My father served this country for over forty years. He was patriotic and promoted to the rank of a Brigadier and yet none of you gave him the benefit of the doubt and were too quick to believe a camera footage that could be fabricated–” “Shut your crap!” Col. Michael Julian, the son of the assassinated Minister of Defense, interjected, his pupils reddish. “Like Father, Like Son; a snake will surely birth something long.” “Save us these sanctimonious words, we can't be swayed by them!” “The security footage passed through various inspections and scanning tests, and all came in affirmative that it was your murderous father who pulled the trigger and had my father gunned down!” He sneered, flashing Achilles a dead glare, triggering more tension and suspense in the military parade ground.Expand

Achilles: The Warlord Emperor 367: City Countdown
The city did not celebrate yet.Even after the broadcast ended, even after El Serpiente was restrained and dragged out of the studio, Cartagena remained tense, like a body holding its breath after narrowly avoiding death. Sirens echoed from distant streets. Helicopters cut across the night sky. People stood on balconies, phones in hand, whispering, pointing, afraid to believe it was truly over.Achilles stood in the studio corridor, Gabrielle wrapped in a protective vest beside him. He checked her face carefully, his hands gentle but precise, as if she were another fragile device that needed careful handling. She was shaken, but steady.“I’m okay,” she said softly before he could ask: “I really am.”He nodded once, accepting it. He knew better than to smother her strength. Still, he kept her close.Margaret’s voice came through the comms, sharp and urgent: “Don’t relax yet. We’re not done.”Achilles straightened: “Report.”“The explosives we neutralized were not the full network,” Mar

The studio lights burned hot.El Serpiente’s voice flowed smoothly across the broadcast, calm and rehearsed, the kind of calm that frightened people because it sounded reasonable. Millions watched across Colombia and beyond, unaware of the quiet war unfolding behind the cameras.Achilles stood just outside the studio doors, his presence hidden but absolute. He did not rush. He did not panic. He listened.“Foreign generals,” El Serpiente said: “operate above your laws. They bring violence and then call it peace. Tonight, you will see the truth.”Behind him, Gabrielle sat bound but unbroken, her posture straight, her eyes steady. Achilles caught her gaze through the glass for a brief second. She did not cry. She did not plead. She trusted him. That trust settled into Achilles’ chest really deep.Margaret’s voice came through the comms, controlled but tight: “Explosive signatures confirmed. Twelve locations so far. Transport hubs, plazas, waterfront markets. Civilian density is extreme.”

Cartagena breathed differently at night. The city glittered along the coast, lights reflecting off the Caribbean like nothing beneath them was wrong. Music drifted from bars. Traffic rolled on. Lovers walked hand in hand. To the outside world, it was calm.To Achilles, it was a battlefield wearing a smile. He stood inside a dim operations room commandeered from a compromised municipal building, eyes fixed on a live city map. Red markers pulsed across districts where cartel influence was strongest. Blue markers showed civilian density. Yellow flagged political interference.Too many yellows.“They’re shielding him,” Achilles said quietly.Margaret nodded from the screen beside him, her face sharp with concentration. “Three council members, two senior police commanders, and one federal liaison are actively delaying warrants. Paperwork traps. Jurisdiction loops.”“Bought or threatened,” Rachael added: “Possibly both.”Achilles leaned back slightly, folding his arms: “He wouldn’t hide in

Achilles: The Warlord Emperor 364: The Collapse
The tunnel hummed faintly as Achilles advanced. Not from machines. From tension. The kind that settled into stone before it broke. He slowed his pace, every sense open. The walls here were newer, poured concrete reinforced with steel ribs. Purpose-built. This was not a hiding place. It was a kill corridor.Margaret’s voice stayed low in his ear: “Babe, charge signatures are everywhere. They’ve staggered them. Sequential collapse.”“They don’t want to seal me in,” Achilles said: “They want to crush me.”“Yes,” she replied: “And the trigger is manual.”Achilles smiled without humor: “Then someone’s close.”He stopped mid-step and knelt, pressing two fingers against the floor. The vibration was faint but rhythmic. A heartbeat that wasn’t his.“They’re waiting for confirmation,” he said: “Visual or audio.”He reached into his pack and pulled out a compact, palm-sized, matte black drone. He sent it forward, hugging the ceiling, its feed flashing across his wrist display. The tunnel opened

Achilles: The Warlord Emperor 363: Tunnel Warfare
The lift screeched to a halt below the mountain, jolting Achilles and the steel cage hard enough to rattle teeth. He stepped out first, weapon raised, scanning the dark. The air down here was colder, heavier. Old stone. Old blood. This was not part of the public fortress. This was something older, hidden long before El Serpiente took power.“Surface secured,” Brig. Rachael’s voice came through the comm: “But we’ve lost heat signatures underground. They sealed the upper access points.”Achilles set Gabrielle behind a rock outcrop and keyed his mic: “They didn’t seal everything. They’re drawing us in.”Margaret’s voice joined, steady but tight: “Babe, I’m back in partial systems. This underground network isn’t on any official map. It’s military grade. Whoever built this expected war.”Achilles already knew. He knelt and pressed his palm to the stone floor. Fresh vibration. Recent movement. Not fleeing. Organizing.“They want tunnel fighting,” he said: “Close quarters. No air support. No

Achilles: The Warlord Emperor 362: Mountain Siege
The helicopter blades faded into the distance, leaving behind a sharp silence. Achilles lay flat against the cold stone, chest steady, breath slow. Below him were concrete walls. Steel watchtowers. Narrow paths carved into rock. It was built to keep people out. Or to trap them inside.A round struck the rock inches from his head.Achilles did not flinch. He shifted his weight, inch by inch, until his body lined up with a shallow ridge. Another shot rang out, this one aimed where he had been moments earlier. He marked the angle in his mind. High ground. East tower. Single shooter. Patient. Confident.Too confident.“Sniper on the east tower,” Achilles said quietly into his comm: “He’s waiting for movement. Don’t give it to him.”Brig. Rachael’s voice came back low and calm: “Visual confirmed. Two more heat signatures on the west ridge. They’re boxed in, warlord.”Achilles’ eyes moved without his head turning. He studied shadows, not shapes. The way light bent around steel. The way the
