It felt like a vision, but it was not. It was something more.

“Adrian… my brother… I need you…”

Adrian could hear Macy's voice inside his head. She was a C-class telepath who has never had to use her powers that much before.

For her to channel that much magik, she was in danger!

“Macy? Where are you!” Adrian asked.

“Adrian… it hurts… so bad… help me… please…” the same eerie voice came in again

“Macy!”

“Help me!!!”

And then, Adrian suddenly snapped back to reality.

He was still standing in front of the courthouse. His heart raced inside his chest as adrenaline flooded his system.

His sister was in danger! And he knew where to find her.

Aunt Vee's house.

Without sparing a second, Adrian zoomed off to the residence. It was just a stone throw away from the courthouse. In no time, he stood before the wooden house with shrivelling flowers around the main residence.

Adrian knocked twice.

While he struggled in the palace, his sister Macy was living with the wicked woman.

Adrian knew that Macy's life wasn't an easy one with Aunt Vee, especially with her terminal illness.

She had a disease that caused intermittent pain in her body.

Adrian had looked for a cure but couldn't find one. He spent everything on it, still, nothing.

But when he has saved enough, he wanted to take her out of there and travel to another Kingdom with Ciara to find a better life for all of them.

That was until everything went to shit with Ciara.

But Adrian couldn't wait anymore. He had to take her away from the harsh treatments she was undergoing in the house.

“Help me!” Macy screamed from within the house. The shrill voice sent a wave of anger through Adrian's body. What was happening to her?

Adrian punched the door and it flew open with a blast.

Stepping inside, Adrian saw the horrible sight!

Macy was pinned down by two men, getting tied up. Aunt Vee stood beside them, watching the drama with her arms crossed across her breast.

Everyone froze as the explosion caused a momentary distraction. Aunt Vee's eyes fell on Adrian.

“Adrian? What the fuck are you doing here? Why aren't you back in the palace doing your miserable job?” Aunt Vee spat at Adrian.

“Get your fucking hands off her!” Adrian growled, clenching his fists.

He dashed at the men holding Macy down and threw them off her. The men crashed into the tables and walls and Aunt Vee jerked back in shock.

How did Adrian become so strong?

Adrian crouched before his sister, and removed the gag they had placed on her mouth. Her eyes, filled with tears, gazed upon him.

“Adrian… my brother…” she sobbed and hugged him tightly.

Adrian's heart broke.

She was looking thinner than the last time he saw her. While he focused all of his attention on his useless ex-wife, he had neglected his beloved sister.

“This will never happen again,” Adrian swore to himself.

Smack!

Aunt Vee slapped Adrian on his shoulder. His eyes flashed at her and she jerked back in fear.

But she refused to admit it.

“How dare you come into this house to cause trouble? Have you lost your fucking mind?” Aunt Vee yelled at Adrian who stood up.

“What the hell were you trying to do to Macy?” Adrian asked her, but Aunt Vee rolled her eyes.

“All she does in this house is eat and cry for your return. So I wanted to make her more useful by making her work in Eagle's Bar!”

Adrian froze.

“Eagles Bar? That's a fucking brothel! You wanted to turn my sister into a whore?” Adrian fumed, the energy inside him pulsating with each heart beat.

“Oh cut it! That would make her useful at least. Look at her. She's so frail and useless. She can't even do housework.”

“Her illness makes her a liability. At least she doesn't require any special talent to wet a man's cock!” Aunt Vee spilled again.

Adrian felt like punching her, but restrained himself for old times sake.

“I'm taking her out of here,” he said to her and she laughed at him.

“Are you fucking serious right now? Look at you, Adrian. You have nothing! You're a useless servant in the Grand Palace. They don't even pay you enough to do shit. If it wasn't for your in-laws, you would be living in the streets!” Aunt Vee's voice was cold.

“Oh, is that what they told you?” He asked her with a smirk.

That house was surviving off his salary.

Of course they would lie to keep their face!

“Yes! So don't even do anything stupid and leave Macy with me. In a few years, she would be a professional whore and can help your miserable life!”

“Shut your fucking mouth, Aunt Vee!”

Adrian yelled at her. Aunt Vee gasped.

“How disrespectful! I should have turned you down the day you brought her sick ass to me!” Aunt Vee yelled at Adrian.

Adrian ignored her. He crouched before his sister. “Can you walk?” He asked her.

Macy winced in pain and shaked her head.

Adrian nodded. “I'll carry you,” he said to her.

But when he turned his head around, three other men stood beside Aunt Vee, all holding clubs and knives.

Aunt Vee's eyes flashed with anger as she observed the pair.

“If you wanna get her out of here, you must pay me for all the trouble she has caused!” Aunt Vee yelled at Adrian.

“Do not make this harder than it already is,” Adrian said to Aunt Vee who pointed her finger at him.

“Useless boy! Either you pay up for all she has consumed in this house, or I will kill you both!” She threatened him further

Adrian cracked his neck. But while he stood, Macy held his hand.

“Adrian… it's okay. Just leave me behind. These men are dangerous. They will hurt you. Just go. I'll accept my fate,” she sobbed.

Adrian gave her hand a gentle squeeze.

“I won't let anything happen to you,” he said to Macy before he turned his attention to the men

Move. Or you will suffer!”

    92. Princess Sue left not long after dropping the bombshell. Adrian stood there for a long time, staring at the door like it might open again. Like she might come back so they could speak some more on what the hell she was talking about. He ran a hand through his hair and let out a sigh. "Someone pretending to be her. What does that even mean?” He muttered as he went back into his chambers. "Who the hell can do something like that?" He stopped by the window, looking out at the dark courtyard below. Assuming the princess was right, there was only one other question he had left. “How long has this been happening? How the fuck am I supposed to help her with something I can't even see?" He started to pace about. "Think, Adrian.Everything is connected." Nothing came to mind and he went back onto the bed, staring at the ceiling. "Great." He said into the silence. It wasn’t long before sleep enveloped him.- When Adrian opened his eyes, he wasn’t in his room anymore. T

92.Adrian’s expression hardened almost immediately. He didn’t laugh. He didn’t dismiss her. That alone made Sue pause.“You believe me?” she asked quietly.“I believe that you believe it,” Adrian said carefully, his mind already racing ahead. “And I believe something is very wrong in this palace.”That wasn’t comfort. Not really. But it was enough.Sue exhaled shakily, her grip tightening around his hand. “I’m not imagining this, Adrian. I know how it sounds, I do. But things… things are slipping.”“Slipping how?”She hesitated, searching for the right words.“Conversations I don’t remember having,” she said finally. “Servants claiming I gave orders I never gave. My guards… reacting before I even speak, like they already know what I’m going to say.”Adrian’s jaw clenched. That wasn’t just paranoia. That was pattern.“Anyone else notice?” he asked.“No,” she said quickly. “Or if they do, they’re pretending not to. And that’s what scares me the most.”Silence stretched between them.

    91. Adrian was in the middle of genuinely losing his shit when he heard a knock at the door. He hoped ignoring it would make it go away. He needed time to think, there was so much going on in such a short time. Everything felt like it was closing in on him, in between Zalaria's notes, Ciara, this Lady G, and problems from the prince watching him like a hawk, he was going mad. The knock came again and Adrian stormed to the door, opening it. “WHAT?” He exclaimed. “Woah! What has gotten into you?” She hissed. His anger soothed immediately he saw who he was. "Your highness." Princess Sue slipped inside quickly before anyone could notice. "Close it." She hissed. He did. They stood there for a second, just looking at each other, then she stepped forward and hugged him tight. Adrian blinked in surprise but didn't hesitate to wrapped his arms around her gently. "Hey..." He said gently. "What's wrong? I’m sorry for yelling, I just “It’s nothing." She said into hi

  • Chapter 90

    90. At the centre of the throne room sat Prince Henry. "They're here, Your Highness." A guard announced. Henry nodded, posing further with his chest out. "Let them in." The doors opener and well dressed, calm, and very observant looking people walked in. Their eyes didn't miss anything. A man with a beard walked to stand in front of the king. "Prince Henry." He greeted with a small bow. "We appreciate your audience." Henry gave a thin smile. "You're welcome. My father would have preferred to meet you himself, but as you've likely heard..." "The king's condition, yes." The man finished for Henry. "We have heard." "How is he?" A woman asked. "Recovering. He is stable." Henry said stiffly. That was not a lie, but it wasn't the full truth either. The king hadn't woken up since, but it would be stupid to reveal that to anyone, especially outsiders. The visitors exchanged looks, but none of them pushed any further. "That is good to hear.” The older man said sm

  • Chapter 89

    89. Adrian got out of his room and took a look around. To his relief, people weren't exactly pointing at him or saying irritating things as much. That didn't mean anything had gotten better, technically, it just meant people were talking somewhere else. Which was still okay. He hadn't been giving them a reaction so they should go somewhere else. He adjusted his sleeve slightly as he walked, having taken to wearing longer sleeves now. The marks and their glow were barely visible under the clothes unless one looked closely. The healers had said it was "stabilising" for what he was working with. "What's my status now?" [SYSTEM STATUS: STABLE.] Adrian nodded. He walked a bit and turned a corner when he slammed straight into someone. "Watch it!" He said calmly, holding her up before taking a respectful step back. The woman he bumped into barely moved. She just looked at him, then slowly rolled her eyes. "Maybe you should watch where you're going, blind bar." She replied

  • Chapter 88

    88. "Adrian, look at this!" Princess Sue said, holding something that looked like an envelope. Adrian raised a brow as he let her into his chambers. "What's the matter?" "Zalaria is gone!" She exclaimed. "Just like that, it's so..." "She left?" Adrian frowned. "How? Why? We haven't even worked out the details of all that has been happening!" Princess Sue stood near his window with her arms folded, looking more annoyed than surprised. "She didn't inform anyone properly. Nobody among my servants knew when she left, and she didn't even care to tell me either." "That's not suspicious at all, very normal behaviour." Adrian said sarcastically. "She's an alchemist!" Princess Sue defended her. "And so?" "She's never normal. Alchemists are very strange people." Adrian nodded. "Fair point." There was a pause and Princess Sue waved the envelope in her hand in Adrian's face. "She did leave something behind, though." Adrian raised a brow. "What did sh
