Adrian watched as Ciara marched toward him under the blazing sun. Her face was twisted into a frown and her hands clenched into a fist.
Even when angry, Ciara's beautiful face was a wonder to behold. But her body wasn't so great. She had a flat chest with small shoulders. Adrian's eyes roamed to her protruding stomach, the child she had used to cajole him. A thousand memories filled his mind, but that was in the past now. Ciara quickly approached him and attempted to slap him, but Adrian caught her hand midair! Ciara gasped in shock. “How dare you lay your hand on me! Let me go!” Ciara yelled at Adrian and tried dragging her hand out of his grip, but he held on longer than a second His eyes burned through her. Ciara could tell there was something different about Adrian, but she couldn't put her finger on it. “Let go!” She forcefully dragged her hand out of his grip and lost her balance. With a cry, Ciara fell on the sands “Do you want to kill the baby? What the fuck has gotten into you?” She cursed at him as she stood up. “ I never thought you'd stoop so low, Adrian. My father has been nothing but good to you. Even though you are a Nonmagical, he gave his blessing for us to be wed. And you dare beat him up!” Ciara screamed at Adrian again. “I will not forgive this easily, Adrian. I demand that you go before my father, fall on your knees and beg him for mercy!” She yelled. Adrian just stood there, watching her throw the tantrums. Realizing she was embarrassing herself, Ciara crossed her arms. “Don't you have anything to say for yourself?” She snapped at him. A long silence followed before Adrian voiced out. “I want a divorce,” Ciara froze. “W- what? What nonsense are you spilling? Have you lost your fucking mind?” She yelled at him. “We shall head to the Judge's Quarters right now to finalize the divorce,” Adrian gently added. Ciara threw her arms in the air. A cold sweat broke over body. Adrian asking for a divorce was not part of her plans! “I'll pretend you didn't just say something so foolish. Come back home and we shall talk about this-” “Do not pacify me! I know the baby is not mine! I know you don't love me. This marriage was your attempt to save yourself from embarrassment and you played me to do it. But now, I am done!” Adrian's words sent a ripple of shock through Ciara's body. This was her most guarded secret. Only her family and the prince knew and neither of them would be stupid enough to reveal it. How did Adrian know? “Is this how low you stoop? False accusations? I will not take this lightly!” She tried to save her face. She didn't know how he found out but she couldn't let Adrian win! “This is not up for a debate, Ciara. Either you agree to the divorce, or I shall tell the judges you cheated on me. I don't think Prince Henry will be happy about that, Ciara’s knees weakened on the spot! Did he know? Should she press on to know how much he knows? Her eyes focused on the once timid man she called her husband. He was different. Like a completely different man entirely. And something told her not to mess with him. “Fine! I will grant your stupid divorce. But when the streets become cold and hunger sets in, do not expect me to take you back!” She snapped at him. Adrian kept a pokerface. “Meet me at the Judge's court by mid-day,” he stated casually and walked away. By the time Adrian got to the courthouse, Ciara was already there, waiting, with a worried look on her face “You still have the chance to stop this stupidity. This is my final act of mercy!” She said to him while they walked into the local office. But Adrian did not reply to her. Ciara tried to hide her nervousness but she was losing the fight In the seconds that followed, the divorce scroll was drafted, both parties signed on their corners of the scroll and the scroll was then torn into two, one handed to each of them. And just like that, the marriage was over. “You will regret this, Adrian. And when that time comes, you will beg me to take you back but I will not!” Those were Ciara's final words before she walked out of the courthouse. She got inside her chariot and rode off. Adrian stood there, freedom in his hand. It was time to set his sight on bigger things. His days of dealing with Ciara's nonsense were over. But while the chariot rode through the streets, Ciara took out a little box from her purse. It gave off a faint yellow glow before she opened it. “Leutenant Percival. It is me, Ciara,” she whispered into the box. It took a moment before a ragged voice responded from within the box. “Ciara. You sound as lovely as the first dawn. To what do I owe this pleasure?” Ciara stared deep into space. Anger flooded her heart as her wounded pride flashed before her eyes. Percival was a very ruthless lieutenant. Everyone in the district knew him. No one wanted to be in his bad book. Ever. “I wish to report an assault. And I have the culprit's name. His name is Adrian Bloodson!” Ciara spilled with venom. It took a minute before the same ragged voice responded again, this time, dread settling with the words “Tell me everything…”Latest Chapter

42. The war alarm rang so loud it shook the buildings. Within minutes, the palace had changed into something else. The servants moved around wildly, and guards shouted orders at each other . Soldiers moved fast into the courtyard, fastening their armour and grabbing shields before standing in formation. Mages stood in rows, hands glowing faintly, ready. Everyone wondered what was going on as there had been no prior preparations for war. But the king told them to be steadfast. An hour passed by of them just waiting. Adrian stood beside the king on the high balcony overlooking the grounds. The king folded his arms and turned to Adrian. "Well, Sir Bloodson, I see no army. Do you?” The visiting dignitary behind them looked pale. "I should not have stayed the night.” The man muttered. "This is madness, I have to go home, my wife must be back from her visits too." Adrian kept his eyes on the horizon. "They're coming." The king exhaled. "My entire court is on edge becaus

41. Adrian couldn’t sleep. He had been able to get a few nights of rest after giving his condolences to the family of the dead… Ciara, but for some reason, this night was different. He sighed, forcing himself to go back to sleep, and that was when he heard a powerful voice in his head. “Wake up, Adrian!” Adrian sat upright in his bed with sweat running down his back. He looked around ti confirm that he was alone and sighed. "Who is there?” Adrian asked aloud. “Let me get some sleep!” “This is the powerful and mighty dragon, Adrian! You are running out of time!” Adrian felt a splitting headache come on, followed by a series of quick moving scenes. It was almost like he was in a trance, but he was awake and well. All the things he saw were extremely violent. He saw a battlefield where the sky was black with smoke and the air smelled like the mingling of blood and ash and fire. He turn r around to see a soldier run past him with half his face gone. Another one was crawli

40. Henry did not give Ciara's father any time to change his mind. Not like anything could even happen if he did. He had set his eyes on him even before he even offered to be the sacrifice. The old man barely had the door closed behind him before Henry grabbed his arm. "Move!” Henry said coldly. Ciara's father looked back once at his house. His wife was still on the floor, crying. "Please…” The old man said. "Be gentle with her, take care of them." “Yeah, whatever.” Was all Henry said. "Your highness?” Ciara’s father said, struggling to breathe as he got into the carriage. "Do you swear that my daughter will live if I die?" Henry didn't even look at him. "Yes, why are you asking? Cold feet already? Too afraid to trade the fate of your daughter?” Ciara’s father shook his head. “None of those, I just want to be sure. I’m about to die.” When they got to the palace, Prince Henry ignored everyone greeting him and went straight up to his father’s chambers. "Announ

39. Henry did not stop walking until the court doors were far behind him. His chest was tight and his hands were still shaking. Just one slip up was all it would have taken to ruin his reputation. "Stupid woman!” He cursed under his breath. He pushed open the door to the private lounge bar at the palace and grabbed the first bottle he saw. He didn't even bother with a cup. He drank straight from it. The burn hit his throat and he welcomed it. “Sir, are you…?” The bartender asked but then left immediately Henry shot him a withering glare. "How the hell did it get this messy?" He whispered to himself. He knew it. He shouldn’t have gotten involved with Ciara, but he just couldn’t resist her charms when she came on to him. He took another large swig and then slammed the bottle down on the table so hard that there was a small crack at the bottom. "I should've never touched that dumb bitch." But he knew that was a lie. He had wanted Ciara even before she came on to him.

38. It didn’t take long to summon the court again. The members were still gossiping from the last trial when the royal bells rang and messengers were sent out to give the members of the court their urgent invitations. They all rushed in, wondering what could possibly make the king summon them urgently. The most urgent meeting there was had a day’s notice and it was the last case of Sir Bloodson VS the kingdom. "This had better be good.” One of the ladies said, taking her seat. "It's that Bloodson again, I’m sure. Before him, we always had a week’s notice.” “Maybe he has another dramatic speech prepared to sway his majesty." The doors opened. The king walked in first with his guards and a serious look on his face, followed by Princess Sue who looked quite pleased, and then Prince Henry followed close behind. Adrian came in last, dressed in plain clean clothes this time, though the bruises on his face were still there. The murmuring grew louder and then the king raised

37. The guards were not pleased releasing Adrian, but they had no choice. Adrian could see it in their eyes that if it were up to them, the trial would have gone a lot differently. But right now, Adrian had bigger fish to fry. He fell to the ground the moment the chains were gone, unable to feel his limbs. But then he stood up, and then he walked out, now temporarily free. I need to tend to my wounds, he thought, rubbing the raw spots on his wrists. As he walked out, he heard an all-too familiar voice. "Murderer!” He turned to see Ciara glaring at him. “Did you really think you could twist the king's mind with your weakness? Pathetic." Adrian didn't even glance her way. He walked straight past her, ignoring her taunts. She was his enemy now, she had tried to have him executed. But why did she hate him so? Even after he left her to fool around with the prince as much as she wanted? He shook his head. He was having too many thoughts at once. What he needed now was a calm
