Adrian watched as Ciara marched toward him under the blazing sun. Her face was twisted into a frown and her hands clenched into a fist.

Even when angry, Ciara's beautiful face was a wonder to behold. But her body wasn't so great. She had a flat chest with small shoulders.

Adrian's eyes roamed to her protruding stomach, the child she had used to cajole him. A thousand memories filled his mind, but that was in the past now.

Ciara quickly approached him and attempted to slap him, but Adrian caught her hand midair!

Ciara gasped in shock.

“How dare you lay your hand on me! Let me go!” Ciara yelled at Adrian and tried dragging her hand out of his grip, but he held on longer than a second

His eyes burned through her. Ciara could tell there was something different about Adrian, but she couldn't put her finger on it.

“Let go!” She forcefully dragged her hand out of his grip and lost her balance.

With a cry, Ciara fell on the sands

“Do you want to kill the baby? What the fuck has gotten into you?” She cursed at him as she stood up.

“ I never thought you'd stoop so low, Adrian. My father has been nothing but good to you. Even though you are a Nonmagical, he gave his blessing for us to be wed. And you dare beat him up!”

Ciara screamed at Adrian again.

“I will not forgive this easily, Adrian. I demand that you go before my father, fall on your knees and beg him for mercy!” She yelled.

Adrian just stood there, watching her throw the tantrums. Realizing she was embarrassing herself, Ciara crossed her arms.

“Don't you have anything to say for yourself?” She snapped at him.

A long silence followed before Adrian voiced out.

“I want a divorce,”

Ciara froze.

“W- what? What nonsense are you spilling? Have you lost your fucking mind?” She yelled at him.

“We shall head to the Judge's Quarters right now to finalize the divorce,” Adrian gently added.

Ciara threw her arms in the air. A cold sweat broke over body. Adrian asking for a divorce was not part of her plans!

“I'll pretend you didn't just say something so foolish. Come back home and we shall talk about this-”

“Do not pacify me! I know the baby is not mine! I know you don't love me. This marriage was your attempt to save yourself from embarrassment and you played me to do it. But now, I am done!”

Adrian's words sent a ripple of shock through Ciara's body. This was her most guarded secret. Only her family and the prince knew and neither of them would be stupid enough to reveal it.

How did Adrian know?

“Is this how low you stoop? False accusations? I will not take this lightly!” She tried to save her face. She didn't know how he found out but she couldn't let Adrian win!

“This is not up for a debate, Ciara. Either you agree to the divorce, or I shall tell the judges you cheated on me. I don't think Prince Henry will be happy about that,

Ciara’s knees weakened on the spot!

Did he know? Should she press on to know how much he knows?

Her eyes focused on the once timid man she called her husband. He was different. Like a completely different man entirely.

And something told her not to mess with him.

“Fine! I will grant your stupid divorce. But when the streets become cold and hunger sets in, do not expect me to take you back!” She snapped at him.

Adrian kept a pokerface.

“Meet me at the Judge's court by mid-day,” he stated casually and walked away.

By the time Adrian got to the courthouse, Ciara was already there, waiting, with a worried look on her face

“You still have the chance to stop this stupidity. This is my final act of mercy!” She said to him while they walked into the local office.

But Adrian did not reply to her. Ciara tried to hide her nervousness but she was losing the fight

In the seconds that followed, the divorce scroll was drafted, both parties signed on their corners of the scroll and the scroll was then torn into two, one handed to each of them.

And just like that, the marriage was over.

“You will regret this, Adrian. And when that time comes, you will beg me to take you back but I will not!” Those were Ciara's final words before she walked out of the courthouse.

She got inside her chariot and rode off.

Adrian stood there, freedom in his hand. It was time to set his sight on bigger things. His days of dealing with Ciara's nonsense were over.

But while the chariot rode through the streets, Ciara took out a little box from her purse. It gave off a faint yellow glow before she opened it.

“Leutenant Percival. It is me, Ciara,” she whispered into the box.

It took a moment before a ragged voice responded from within the box.

“Ciara. You sound as lovely as the first dawn. To what do I owe this pleasure?”

Ciara stared deep into space. Anger flooded her heart as her wounded pride flashed before her eyes.

Percival was a very ruthless lieutenant. Everyone in the district knew him. No one wanted to be in his bad book.

Ever.

“I wish to report an assault. And I have the culprit's name. His name is Adrian Bloodson!”

Ciara spilled with venom.

It took a minute before the same ragged voice responded again, this time, dread settling with the words

“Tell me everything…”

    150. The cheering inside City Hall refused to die as different rebels walked up to him to congratulate him. Henry wanted the floor to open up and swallow him whole. “Alright, alright, shut up!” He said to the next one who came. Nobody listened and someone threw a blanket at him. Kael nearly fell over laughing. “I’ve never seen anyone look so embarrassed after kissing a beautiful woman.” “I hate every single one of you.” “No you don’t.” “You’re right.” Henry sighed. “Unfortunately.” Mira had sat up again, looking equally embarrassed. “They’re acting like we got married.” “Give them time.” Kael said. “Someone will probably organise a wedding by dinner.” “KAEL!” The former knight laughed even harder. Henry sat beside Mira’s bed. “You should rest.” “You should rest too.” “I wasn’t nearly crushed by a building.” “Yes, but I know you carried a lot of people back here today.” “I’m strong.” Henry said, and Mira burst into laughter. “That’s off

    149. Henry hated that scream immediately. When he got to Mira’s site, she was nowhere to be found, but he could hear loud screaming from someone. The kind of scream people made when they thought they were about to die. "Shit." He dropped the blanket he was carrying and turned around. Kael picked up the blanket and ran beside him. "You can’t just run when you hear a scream." "I can’t find Mira!” Henry exclaimed, still running. The scream came again, but this time it sounded weaker. Henry was sick to his stomach. Mira. Please don't let it be Mira. He begged in his mind. It couldn’t be her, not after everything she had already done to help people! The giant tower still stood in the distance like a giant middle finger aimed at the entire kingdom. “FUCK YOU!” Henry spat at it as he ran through the wreckage. Kael followed behind. "Slow down!" "I can’t afford to!" Henry said, throwing himself over obstacles and jumping like a kangaroo before he slid beneath a lar

  • Chapter 148

    148. Henry was in the middle of losing an argument with Kael in the major city mall. There was a supply run and he had volunteered to be part of it, but as they stocked up, they argued. "I'm telling you, that's a terrible idea." "It's a brilliant idea." Kael replied. "No, it's terrible." "Brilliant!" Mira walked past both of them carrying medical supplies. "You're both idiots. Be quick so we can leave." "See?" Henry pointed at her. "She agrees with me." "No." Mira replied without stopping. "I think you're both idiots." Kael laughed. The rebellion base had become surprisingly lively over the last few days. There were more people in the "family". So that meant more training, more planning, and more arguments. For the first time in months, things almost felt normal for Henry, save for attacks. He had become more used to the environment. Henry sat on a wooden crate and looked at Kael. "So you're seriously saying we should put explosives under a bridge?"

    147. "Selene, answer me!” Selene wasn’t looking at Adrian, her eyes were on the stone instead. What the hell would she say to him? Selene didn't know, so she didn’t respond. She stared at the ball for a second before quickly closing her fingers around it. “Selene." Still nothing. She shoved the ball into her pocket and looked away. "We need to get the children out first, Adrian. Everything else is secondary." Her voice sounded strained. Adrian nodded and slowly got to his feet. His throat still hurt from where the warden had nearly crushed it. He looked at Selene, and shook his head. He had so many questions that were practically exploding inside his head. What kind of magic was that? Why had she lied about being able to do magic? What else had she lied about? How many other things was she hiding? He shook his head. No, he needed to concentrate on the kids. Most of them looked terrified. Adrian swallowed his questions. "Right, the children.” Selene looked

  • Chapter 145

    145. The stolen palace records were spread across the large table in his study. Adrian went through them with a frown on his face. "This makes absolutely no sense." Selene sat opposite him, reading through another pile of papers. Adrian frowned as he went through some documents. The handwriting was so bad he had to struggle to understand what was going on in them. "What does that line say?" He said, showing Selene a page. She squinted. "Deserving prisoners" A few days had passed since they stole the documents from a palace archive. Most of it was boring, all about taxes and mundane reports, supplies, there was a report about a man arrested for punching a goat. Adrian finished up with that batch and opened the next one. DEVELOPMENT FOR SUPPLY AND POWER, the top read. This was the most intriguing one so far, he told Selene who shrugged. “That sounds like they’re talking about power to use for machines.” “I don’t know.” Adrian said as he took out the cover. T
