72.

The room stayed silent after Henry's question. No one spoke about it or said anything. Even the healers looked away as they didn't want trouble.

Princess Sue stood there, staring at him like she didn't recognise the man in front of her.

"You're unbelievable. I always knew you were annoying but this is beyond evil." She hissed.

Henry raised a brow.

"Careful."

"No, you be careful!" She snapped. "This is not how a prince behaves."

"This is exactly how a king behaves, and that is

    144. "Hello old friend." He smiled. Henry stared at him like his soul had temporarily left his body. The courtyard had gone completely silent now. Even the injured rebels on the ground were trying to sit up properly to look at the man standing there. Kael. That man was the lost knight, the so-called dead hero who was now clearly alive.Henry shook his head slowly. "No." He pointed at Kael's face. "No, absolutely not. You died." Kael sighed as he slid the silver mask onto his belt. "People say that a lot when they see me." "Because you were declared dead!" Henry shouted. "There was a funeral!" "A very dramatic one too." Kael nodded. "I heard the flowers were beautiful." Several rebellion members exchanged confused looks, most of them confused. "Who the fuck is this?" Henry turned around instantly. "WHO THE FUCK IS THIS?" He repeated in disbelief. "That is Kael!" The woman blinked. "Okay?" Henry almost collapsed from frustration. "The Kael! The legend

    142. "What agreement?" Adrian asked again. Selene looked tense for the first time since they entered the underground prison. "It's nothing. I already told you not to listen to him!" She snapped. "That doesn't sound like nothing to him." The chained creature laughed loudly again, sounding a lot like somebody losing their mind vocally. "Oh, she lies beautifully." It grinned. "That was always her greatest talent, you know?" Selene glared at it. "Shut up." "You can't do anything to me, Lilivia. I own you." Adrian frowned and pulled her closer. "Okay, now I'm definitely not letting this go." Selene stepped away from him. "Adrian, we need to leave this place. We've seen what we wanted to see." "No. You have been lying to me since we met and I want the truth from you." "There's no time for all this." The creature suddenly let out a laugh. "You should listen to her. The time is nigh." Adrian looked back at it. "And why exactly would I take advice fr

    141. Adrian grunted as he went through a door. “I can’t believe that you talked me into doing this.” Selene folded her arms. “You already agreed to help me, no take backs.” "I agreed before I knew your request involved breaking into the fucking palace again." “Again?” Selene chuckled. “Adrian, who are you?” "I just need confirmation and I’m glad I got it." Selene said after a moment of silence. "Confirmation of what?" “That the rumours are true. You’re the kind to do anything to ensure that justice is served and wrongs are righted when possible.” Adrian ignored her. This woman was going to kill him from stress. Three hours ago, he had been trying to sleep. Now he was dressed like a palace guard and sneaking through dark corridors with a former criminal who had once worked for Lady G. Life was genuinely insulting. The inside of the palace looked much worse than before, and that was saying a lot since the palace was being restructured after the monsters attac

  • Chapter 140

    140. Adrian walked through the halls slowly with wet hair and a dark bathing robe hanging loosely around his body. He had cleaned the blood off himself finally, but somehow he still felt dirty. He took in a deep breath. It had been a while since he had time to himself to just breathe and take a soak in his own bathtub, then a nice, warm shower. He was never taking this simplicity of life for granted again. Adrian walked into the sitting room and saw Selene still sitting exactly where he had left her. She sat stiffly on the couch like somebody expecting an execution any second. Her silver hair fell over one shoulder and her eyes wandered around the room. She looked impressed despite herself. "You live here?" She finally asked, not looking up at Adrian. Adrian frowned. "No, I robbed the owner and decided to stay." Selene ignored the sarcasm. "This place is huge. I've never seen a mansion like this before." "Good for you." There was awkward silence again and Adrian si

    139. Henry woke up feeling like somebody had beaten him up with several heavy chairs repeatedly. He groaned and looked around. The ceiling above him looked unfamiliar. There was a dead lantern hanging from one corner and the room smelled strongly like medicine and herbs. “What is all this?” That’s when his memories punched him in the face. He remembered that the king had showed up and executed people, and then had guards try to kill him. That was the pain he was feeling. Henry sat up too quickly and immediately regretted every life decision that brought him there. "The fuck—" He felt the pain in his ribs and shoulder and struggled to remain sitting. He looked down and noticed bandages wrapped around his chest. There were tubes connected to his arm and a strange liquid dripped slowly from a hanging bottle beside the bed. “What the fuck is this?" He immediately started pulling everything off himself. The needle came out first, then the tube. "Absolutely not." T

  • Chapter 138

138 Henry woke up to somebody screaming nearby. He sat up quickly and immediately regretted it and his head was heavy and the pain in his side. "Fuck..." He groaned, grabbing his side. Everything hurt. His head, legs, chest... it was all painful. For a few seconds, he forgot where he was completely. Then the memories came rushing back all at once. He remembered the attack of the king, bringing down the monsters, and the fighting. Adrian and Macy! Henry looked around. He was lying beneath a torn blanket beside the wall of an abandoned shop. Several other people slept nearby on the cold floor looking dirty and exhausted. A little boy had been beside him earlier, but the boy was no where to be found now. Henry frowned. "Kid? Where are you?" No response. He stood up slowly, wincing from the pain. His royal clothes were filthy now and covered in blood. His, and that of some creatures he had injured. From what he could see of outside, the city looked horrible.
