Chapter 2
Nicholas had barely left the office when Linda, the woman who had sent him for coffee earlier, approached Fiona’s desk. Her arms were crossed, and her expression was one of disdain and anger. “What’s that stupid Nicholas trying to do?” Linda sneered, her voice dripping with contempt. “Is he trying to flirt with you? With that face? Don't you see how ugly he looks? Disgusting!” She made a dramatic show of wrinkling her nose, as though the mere thought of Nicholas was offensive. Fiona’s face flushed red. She and Nicholas had been in a secret relationship for two years, a fact they had both agreed to keep the relationship hidden. Fiona owed her position at Sky Corporation all thanks to Nicholas , but lately, she had begun to feel embarrassed by their relationship. Nicholas’s lowly status and the way he was treated by their colleagues made her question whether he was still worthy of her. “Do you really think I’d stoop so low as to date someone like Nicholas?” Fiona snapped, her voice sharp and defensive. “He’s beneath me. I would never be with someone so unfortunate.” “I thought as much!” Linda smirked, satisfied with Fiona’s response, and returned to her desk. Fiona, however, felt a pang of guilt. She had betrayed Nicholas , not just with her words but with her thoughts. As the workday ended, Nicholas noticed Fiona was still at her desk. A small smile crept onto his face as he approached her. “Hey, Lisa,” he said softly, wrapping an arm around her waist. “Ready to go home?” Fiona stiffened and pushed him away, her eyes blazing with anger. “Why did you smile at me earlier?” she hissed. “We agreed to keep this a secret! Do you want everyone to know about us? Is that what you want?” Nicholas was taken aback by her sudden outburst. He had never seen Fiona this angry before. “I..I’m sorry,” he stammered, trying to apologize, but she cut him off. “Just leave! Go home!” she snapped. “I still have work to do.” Nicholas hesitated, hurt and confused, but he respected her wishes and left the office. As he walked away, his phone buzzed. It was a message from Linda, demanding that he return to the office to write an important email she had forgotten to send. Her tone was arrogant, almost threatening, and Nicholas felt a surge of anger. He had endured months of bullying, but this was too much. Clenching his fists, he cursed under his breath. He wanted to ignore the message, but he knew the consequences if he did. Reluctantly, he turned back and headed back to the office. When he arrived, Fiona was no longer at her desk. Nicholas assumed she had gone to the restroom. He didn't give it much thought as he concentrated on why he is here. He sat at Linda’s desk and began typing the email, but his concentration was broken by a strange noise coming from the supervisor’s office. He wondered what was going in the supervisor's office that could be producing such noise. Curiosity got the better of him, and he moved closer to the door. The sound grew louder, more distinct, and Nicholas felt a chill run down his spine. His heart pounded as he realized what he was hearing. “No… it can’t be,” he muttered, his hands trembling. Sweat beaded on his forehead as he inched closer to the door. The sounds were unmistakable now—moans, gasps, and the loud creaking of furniture. His stomach churned as the truth dawned on him. With a surge of anger and disbelief, Nicholas flung the door open. The scene before him shattered his world.

A slow, sinister smile spread across his face as an idea began to form in his mind. “Don’t worry,” he said, his voice calm and calculating. “I have a plan. If we play our cards right, Nicholas will be the one who regrets ever crossing us.” Fiona’s eyes widened as the supervisor leaned in and whispered his plan into her ear. Her initial fear was replaced by a sly smile as she nodded in agreement. “It’s perfect,” she said, her voice fille

But before he could finish, the bank clerk, without even looking up from her desk, snapped at him harshly, “Hey! How can you be so rude and impolite? Join the queue like everyone else!” The words hit him like a slap. He blinked and looked around, only now noticing the long line of people waiting to be served. Murmurs began to spread through the line, and he could feel the eyes on him—some curious, others filled with disdain. “I’m sorry,” he said softly, almost a
