Chapter 1
CHP 001 — HUMILIATED
Nicholas Bellingham was drenched in sweat, his clothes clinging to his body as he sprinted down the bustling street. His wristwatch showed he had only ten minutes left to reach the office. If he failed, he would face yet another scolding from his supervisor.
The thought alone fueled his pace, his heart pounding not just from the physical exertion but from the mounting pressure of his daily struggles. As he approached the front of the Sky Corporation building, he paused, gasping for air, his chest heaving. He wiped the sweat from his brow and exhaled deeply, trying to steady himself before stepping inside. But just as he reached for the gate, a sharp voice stopped him in his tracks. “Hey, Nick, the pauper! Are you just arriving now?” The voice belonged to a woman, one of his colleagues. She glanced at her wristwatch, her lips curling into a smirk. “Well, it doesn’t matter if you’re late or not. Get me a cup of coffee from down the street,” she commanded, her tone dripping with disdain. Nicholas froze, his eyes dropping to the money she shoved into his hand. This was nothing new. He was used to being treated like this—ordered around, belittled, and mocked. In Sky Corporation, Nicholas held a minor position, one that his colleagues deemed insignificant. To them, he was little more than an errand boy, a punching bag for their frustrations. He stared at the cash, his jaw tightening. “I’m just getting to work,” he muttered, his voice barely audible. “I need to register my attendance before the time runs out.” The woman’s expression hardened, her eyes narrowing. “Do you intend to refuse me, Nicholas ?” she snapped, her voice rising. “I don’t care how you do it, but I want my coffee on my desk in twenty minutes. Don’t test me.” Nicholas clenched his fists, his frustration bubbling beneath the surface. “Please,” he pleaded, “let me just sign in first. I’ll get your coffee right after.” Her laughter was cold and mocking. “You foolish boy,” she sneered. “I won’t tolerate disrespect from you. Remember your place. You have twenty minutes.” With that, she tossed the money at him and strode into the building, leaving him standing there, humiliated and seething. Nicholas muttered a curse under his breath, his hands trembling with anger. But he had no choice. He couldn’t afford to lose this job. Sky Corporation was one of the most prestigious companies in the city, and despite the torment he endured, he needed to stay employed. Swallowing his pride, he turned and ran toward the café. Fifteen minutes later, he returned, sweat pouring down his face, a cup of coffee in hand. He approached the woman’s desk and placed it before her. “Here’s your coffee,” he said, his voice strained but polite. She glanced at the cup, then at him, a smirk playing on her lips. “What took you so long? You’re always so slow and lazy,” she taunted. Nicholas bit his tongue, forcing himself to remain silent. But before he could retreat, a booming voice echoed across the office, sending a chill down his spine. “Nicholas Bellingham !” It was his supervisor, his face red with anger. “This is the fifth time you’ve been late this month. Do you have any explanation for this unacceptable behavior?” Nicholas ’s heart sank. He stammered, “I… I’m sorry, sir. I arrived early, but I was sent to get coffee before I could even sign in.” He gestured toward the woman, hoping she would corroborate his story. She totally ignored him and stared idsdainfully at him. He clenched his fist tightly, hot blood running through his vein. The supervisor’s expression darkened. “Enough excuses, Nicholas ! There’s no justification for your tardiness. You’ll face a fifty percent pay cut this month. That’s final.” Nicholas ’s stomach churned. He glanced at the woman, his eyes filled with a mix of anger and helplessness. She simply shrugged, her smirk never fading. “But, sir—” Nicholas began, his voice trembling. “Silence!” the supervisor barked. “You’re lucky you still have a job. Now, go get a tray and serve everyone a glass of chilled water. And don’t be lazy about it!” Nicholas nodded, his shoulders slumping in defeat. He had no choice but to comply. He walked towards the kitchen and fetched the tray and began serving water to his colleagues, he felt the weight of their judgmental stares. He was an outcast, a target for their ridicule and disdain. Every day was a battle, a struggle to maintain his dignity in the face of relentless mistreatment. When he reached Fiona’s desk, she accepted the glass with a faint smile. “Thanks, Nicholas ,” she said softly, her tone surprisingly kind. Nicholas nodded, his lips forming a faint smile in return. It was a small gesture, but in that moment, it meant the world to him. He finished his task and retreated to the kitchen.Expand

Chapter 32 He groaned as consciousness slowly returned, his head throbbing with a dull, persistent ache. Blinking against the intrusive light, he tried to make sense of his surroundings. The bed beneath him was unfamiliar—soft, with floral sheets that smelled faintly of lavender. His breath hitched as the events of the previous night flickered in his memory—fragmented, unclear. . The woman he had loved, the person he had trusted more than anyone, had betrayed him in the worst possible way. As he walked away, he felt a surge of anger and determination. He would make them pay for what they had done. ~~~ Meanwhile, back in the office, Fiona and the supervisor were left in stunned silence. The weight of Nicholas ’s threat hung heavily in the air. Fiona turned to the supervisor, her face pale with fear. “What are we going to do? He’s going to report us. We’ll lose everything.” The supervisor, however, seemed unfazed. A slow, sinister smile spread across his face as an idea began to form in his mind. “Don’t worry,” he said, his voice calm and calculating. “I have a plan. If we play our cards right, Nicholas will be the one who regrets ever crossing us.” Fiona’s eyes widened as the supervisor leaned in and whispered his plan into her ear. Her initial fear was replaced by a sly smile as she nodded in agreement. “It’s perfect,” she said, her voice fille
