“He committed bribery and embezzlement. So I got him arrested.” Lana responded proudly.

Donald was getting annoyed by her gestures. “How's that possible, Mr. Norman would never do—”

“Well maybe he's just been pretending, hiding in the shadows. A hypocrite and a liar!” Lana interrupted Donald from completing his speech.

Donald had been tolerating her disrespect because she was Norman's fiancee, but with what he was hearing he had no reason to remain nice anymore. “Mr. Norman is a good man, he'll never do such a thing!”

Grand heavens was worth a billion dollars, and yet Norman bluntly refused 90% of the shares. How can such a man accept a bribe?

Lana boiled in rage, she hated the way Donald was defending Norman. “You think you know him better than I do?” She gestured, her fingers pointing at Donald's chest. “He's my ex, and if I say he's a criminal then he is. He's a corrupt pest!” She exclaimed.

“You're getting too arrogant. And I'm afraid, your meals are no longer complimentary, you'll pay for every single thing you consume. That includes the emerald room’s charges.”

“What? Your management said it was free.” Lana argued.

“I said that because I owe Mr. Norman a favor for saving my daughter. But since you all don't know the value of such a kind man, there's no reason to show any kindness to you.” Donald's expression darkened.

“Mr. Donald but—”

Lucas tried to speak but Donald gestured with his palm up. “This is my hotel, and I make the rules here. You're paying for everything.”

Lana and her father exchanged uneasy glances. They both knew the meals here were outrageously expensive, but spending thirty minutes in the Emerald Room, billed at $50,000 per minute, had taken things to an entirely new level.

Donald wasted no time. He summoned the chefs, bartender, and room manager to tally the bill.

“One and a half million dollars!” they announced.

Lana and Lucas gasped audibly. The amount was far beyond anything they had anticipated.

“I’m waiting for my money,” Donald said coldly, his arms crossed. “Pay now, or I’ll call the police.”

Lana’s heart sank.  She glanced at her father, her eyes pleading. Lucas nodded discreetly, and she immediately understood.

Both of them turned to Henry.

Lana’s lips curved into a sweet smile as she gently patted his chest. “Sweetie, this little amount is nothing for someone like you, right? You’re from the Havord family! You could probably buy this entire hotel if you wanted to.”

Henry clenched his fists internally. “Do they think I’m made of money?” he thought bitterly.

Though he came from the prestigious Havord family, his monthly allowance was his only reliable source of income. His elder brother was the heir who enjoyed all the perks, while Henry was left with little more than the family name to his credit.

But he understood the implications of offending someone like Donald.

Donald wasn’t just a wealthy businessman—he was connected to forces far greater than most could imagine. Even the Havords would think twice before crossing him. For Henry, who had just arrived and was carefully laying the groundwork for his ambitions, making an enemy of Donald would be disastrous.

“Alright,” he said tersely, pulling out his card. He swiped it with a sense of resignation.

The receipt printed: $1,500,000 deducted.

Henry’s jaw tightened as he stuffed the receipt into his pocket. His heart ached at the expense, but he maintained his composure.

“Thank you so much, sweetie!” Lana beamed, kissing his cheek.

Henry smiled faintly, his mind racing. He had lost a significant amount of money tonight, but once he successfully became the acting Mayor, he'd make sure he recovered all his money and more.

“Let’s go now,” he said, eager to leave before any further complications arose.

The gentle flicker of the flames seemed to pulse with a life of its own, casting eerie shadows on the walls around me. My brows furrowed in confusion as I took in my surroundings, my mind foggy and disoriented. "Where am I?" I asked and tried to adjust my eyes to the darkness. I didn't even know what else to say at this point. I tried to adjust my eyes to the lighting, and that's when I noticed the people sitting around me, their faces illuminated by the soft glow of the candles."Who are you?"
