Joan felt as if the ground should open up and swallow him this moment.

He couldn’t believe that he could be so easily exposed.

The police, already convinced of his guilt, handcuffed him and led him out of the house.

Joan’s eyes darted around, seeking sympathy, but all he found were scowls, disgust, and disdain.

Elaine, standing off to the side, felt the weight of her mistakes crash down on her.

Her cheeks were wet from tears as she watched Joan being taken away. She had labeled Antonio wrongly, accused him without basis, and now the truth was glaringly clear.

Guilt that had been building for days hit her chest.

She wanted to run after Antonio, to beg for forgiveness, and to explain, but fear that he wouldn’t forgive her kept her frozen for a few painful seconds.

“Antonio… I’m sorry,” she whispered, her voice breaking.

The words felt weak, drowned out by the grief and chaos filling the house.

Alder, meanwhile, stayed unmoved.

His face was hard and his eyes cold.

He had never sho

The silence in the room was fractured the moment Antonio’s voice rang out.The words hit like a hammer. Robert Adams, mid-rage and chest heaving, spun toward the door. His eyes widened with shock flashing across his face. For a moment, he looked less like the feared devil of the underworld and more like a man who had just seen a ghost.“Antonio?” Robert rasped in disbelief. His fists tightened at his sides as he blinked rapidly, as if his mind couldn’t process how Antonio had appeared here, at this very moment. How did Antonio know Elaine was here? Robert had been meticulous. Careful. The plan had been simple—take advantage of Elaine, do what he intended, and savor his victory before Antonio would come into the picture. The thought of Antonio showing up this early never crossed his mind. Rage twisted his face as he realized fate had betrayed him.Elaine, trembling on the bed, lifted her tear-streaked face. Her breath caught. “Antonio?” Her voice cracked with disbelief and he

Harry couldn’t stomach it. He knew what Robert intended to do, and he couldn’t bear to watch. Dropping the phone onto the polished oak table as if it burned his fingers, Harry bolted out of the room.Behind him, the heavy air thickened with something vile. Robert Adams stood at the center of the room like a predator circling prey. His shirt was already halfway undone and his belt loosened. His eyes locked on Elaine. She sat trembling on the edge of the bed, her hands clutching the sheets and her lips quivering as words of pleading tumbled from her mouth.“P-please, Mr Adams. Don’t do this. I beg you,” Elaine stammered.Robert smirked, tilting his head as if savoring the moment. “Begging makes it sweeter,” he sneered, stepping closer. “You should have thought about this before that stupid ex-husband of yours crossed me!"Jackson, Robert’s loyal right-hand man, leaned casually against the wall with his arms folded. He wasn’t as brutish as Robert, but the malice in his gaze was ju

Antonio sat rigid after the call ended. The words from Elaine had come like a thunderclap—she was in danger, trapped somewhere in a hotel at the outskirts of the city. The urgency in her tone, even through the broken connection, had immediately set off alarms in his mind. Every fiber of his being screamed that this wasn’t a casual threat; this was real, imminent, and deadly.Antonio picked up his phone and dialed his two most trusted men, Marco and Dante. “Listen carefully,” he said. “Trace The Cool Palace hotel immediately. My ex-wife, Elaine’s life is on the line. I don’t care what it takes—find the exact coordinates, and then secure a route. We leave now. No excuses. No delays.”There was a pause on the other end, then Marco’s steady voice responded, “Understood, Boss. We’re on it.” Dante echoed the same, and Antonio ended the call. His mind was already calculating. The Cool Palace was notorious—a luxurious façade with layers of security for privacy, but also a place that coul

Elaine’s heart raced as Robert ordered the men to carry her into the closest room. The men obeyed, forcing her through the dimly lit hallways of the hotel. Her hands were tightly bound behind her back, with the sound of her heels clicking against the polished floor. The men moved with precision, giving away no hint of emotion. Elaine’s mind was a whirlwind of fear and anger. She couldn’t understand how a simple dinner with Jackson had spiraled into this nightmare, nor could she grasp the depths of Robert Adams’ cruelty.“Where are you taking me?!” Elaine screamed, struggling against their grips. Her voice echoed through the empty hallways, yet no one came to help. She felt a knot of panic tighten in her stomach as the realization hit her—this was a carefully orchestrated trap. Every detail, every step, had been meticulously planned by Robert and Jackson. One of the men, the closest to her, glared at her and barked, “Quiet! Your mouth will get you hurt!”Elaine flinched but refu

The meeting at Green Deal Solutions had gone far better than Elaine expected. After discussing company strategies, finances, and the recent influx of funds that had restored her company’s operations, Jackson leaned back in his chair with an unreadable expression. “Elaine,” he said smoothly, “why don’t we continue this conversation over dinner? A more relaxed setting, away from the office.”Elaine hesitated briefly. Something about Jackson had always been unpredictable, but she reminded herself that they had shared a long history, and that this dinner could be strictly professional. “Alright,” she said cautiously. “Dinner is fine.”Jackson smiled, the sort of charming smile that had once made her heart flutter years ago. “Excellent. Let’s go.”They left Green Deal Solutions and drove for a long while, deeper into the outskirts of Gelrith City. The restaurant Jackson had chosen was far from the city’s bustle, a place that promised privacy and discretion. As they entered the grand

The following morning at Green Deal Solutions, Elaine stopped at her desk, reviewing the newly-arrived financial statements. Her eyes scanned every line, making sure the company’s account balances reconciled, and that there were no discrepancies. The relief was tangible. For the first time in weeks, she could breathe.Just as she was about to lean back and allow herself a moment of rest, her phone buzzed on the desk. She picked it up and frowned at the screen. The caller was an unknown number. She hesitated for a fraction of a second before pressing the answer button.“Hello?” she said cautiously.“Elaine,” a deep, familiar voice came from the other end.Elaine’s pulse quickened. “Jackson?” she asked, recognizing the voice instantly.“Yes, it’s me,” Jackson replied smoothly. “Did your mother inform you about my… intentions?”Elaine nodded, though he couldn’t see it. “Yes, she did. And I wanted to thank you, Jackson… for your help with Bellagio Group. The funds… they’ve been tra
